Fighting a 42+ pound Striped Bass late fall

- Went out looking for a keeper and ended up getting into a fight with a 42 pound Striped Bass.
Equipment - tsunami rod 10 foot 6inches , 4000 reel , 30# line , Mavic mini , GoPro 9 , glacier gloves , 1 oz diamond jig red -
Music - was never ready by Damna Beatz Cred spaces app -
Location - Long Island , NY
Great catch and always happy to see them big ones released to have them around next year .

The diawa bg is a tremendous value for short money
This was epic wow the adrenaline was kicking in watching
At 1:35 my heart dropped and I knew I was in for something big. What a way to start the day! Keep fishing! 🤙

Thanks a lot! Yah I know nothing of the west side when it comes to fishing but the north east defiantly has great striped bass fishing. Yah always got to be safe with fish when CPR.

Wow. A daytime 42” on a diamond jig in a back bay already stuffed with another fish. You don’t see that every day. What state is this and was this recent? Next time grab her by the mouth and swim her to get more oxygen moving over her gills. I know it’s tough with a beast like that. Good release otherwise.

why release and not eat ?
Too big to take home. Got to be bigger then 28” and smaller then 35”. This fish was 46”

27” to under 38” here in Jersey.
@@edge1289 the up to 28 at least lets you eat fish with less mercury though not as much a challenge
