The Waltons is an American historical drama television series about a family in rural Virginia during the Great Depression and World War II. The television movie The Homecoming: A Christmas Story was broadcast on December 19, 1971. Based on its success, the CBS television network ordered one season of episodes based on the same characters and that became the television series The Waltons. The show aired from September 14, 1972 to June 4, 1981, lasting for nine seasons & 221 episodes.

I love watching The Waltons. Everything about that era where they lived, the scenery, the home, Ikes store.

If you liked the TV show ,I think you would like the movie that is based on Earl Hamners book it gives a little different perspective . The movie is called Spencer's Mountain,as is the title of Earls book . It starred Henry Fonda as the father, and the actor who played Dano on Hawaii Five - O as( Clay Boy-) changed to (John Boy) on T V. Wally Cox played the preacher, where John Ritter played the preacher on TV . The movie is quite a bit different from the TV show but I think you would enjoy it.

OK, so he misspoke somewhere... But what's your point, xsince he literally presented every one of the 7 kids in the video? Obviously he knew there were 7 since he included them all, even describing their characters.

I used to watch this as a child and used to envy their family life I never had.
I think they were meant to. We were being programmed. Are families really actually that. Another way to make you feel bad about yourself. We have free will say no. It’s up to you.

@@melaniemansfield3319 my parent never loved me, I was the black sheep and they treated me like a Cinderella. They starved me at times and there were times I was so hungry and managed to quickly eat an raw egg. You can choose your friends but not your family. I did contemplate suicide to escape from my sad life but thankfully too coward to do it. One day I finally snapped and walked away with my tutors help.

When I was kids I watch the the show I watch the show today there on everyday I have all the DVD I wish I have the blue dish there use on the set my mom and dad have a set just like it but our house was on fire and we lost the dish I wish I can get the dish

Just a note the Hamner family had 7 children ,but the program only showed 6 . The character of Jim- Bob represented the two James and Robert. I belive that Robert Hamner was the last member of the family to live in the original house. This house is still standing ,and has been refurbished by a fan whose generosity is keeping the legacy of the Waltons _ Hamners alive . The town of the Waltons is Skyller Virginia.Ike Godseys store burned down but it was replaced and is built on the same spot.

If you are a fan you should see the movie, Spencer's Mountain , based on Earl Hamners book of the same name . They definitely had 7 children; 4 boys and 3 girls. A huge mistake from someone who does no research. No credibility.

I have made huge changes in my life. First by losing 50 pounds and working on the next 20 through changing the way I eat, I never wore makeup, I quit smoking 4 years ago and I stay out of the sun as much as possible. 💜🙏

I never watched the show when originally on but have seen most of the episodes on MeTV. Well written and acted but the one thing that sticks out is that this was the 30's and 40's era and while most of the girls and locations look the part, the boys and men all have 1970's blown dry style haircuts.
Wasn't the 3rd child born to Olivia and John, actually Mary Ellen? There were actually 7 kids in the TV show. John Boy, Jason, Mary Ellen, Ben, Erin, Jim Bob and Elizabeth.

This was good. I still love The Waltons. I watched them until it left the air. I watched all the movie specials.I didn't like the way they completely forgot Ben and Cindy's son and killed off Virginia, or Ginny; Ben and Cindy's daughter. Then Cindy wasn't shown anymore when the other movies were made. They could have at least told us what happened to John Curtis and Jonesy, Mary Ellen's second husband. Or showed Ben and Cindy's newly adopted son or daughter.
I never liked nor cared for the episode whare they wrote Curtis Willard was instead alive and living in Florida. Tom Bower made the best Curtis Willard, and when they killed him off in Pearl Harbor, they should have kept it that way, and never brought in another actor to potray the part of Curtis Willard, just wasn't the same.
Tom Bowers age was way off!! He was in his late 30s and is now 84. A year older than Michael
In the series, never much liked Erin Walton, she's just way to flighty, kinda goofy, a tattle tale bulls tail is how she kinda strikes me.
