      I think having to consistently build a match finish around an opponent getting stuck on the top turnbuckle would be tricky (although it worked for the Muscle Buster, Joe had to lift his opponent up for it and it wasn't all the way to the top), but agreed it's a gorgeous move.

    • @Somnogenesis
      @Somnogenesis Рік тому +2

      My big problem with Seth's combo, as slick and cool-looking as it is, is that it completely no-sells the superplex.
      By all accounts it's legitimately the move with the biggest impact on _both_ participants (no matter whether you're giving a superplex or taking it, you're falling unprotected from a significant height and landing hard flat on your back), so it makes perfect sense that after any other instance of it both wrestlers will spend some time selling the move and looking winded. Yet that gets thrown out of the window by Rollins, who by popping straight back up from it to roll into the falcon arrow makes it look like he alone has an inexplicable immunity to the impact.

    Gotta nominate Randy Orton (and Bob Holly's) dropkicks- those are a work of art. Rock's float over ddt is interesting because he used early in his career, adopted a more "smash mouth" style when he became a star, then brought the float over ddt back when he slimmed down and tried a more athletic/technical style of wrestling later in his career. Also, Rock's spinebuster setup for the Rock Bottom is a beaut as well.

      Ziggler and the mentioned Orton do indeed have very well executed dropkick, but both suffer from being expected parts of their styles. They're so agile that it loses so of its wow factor.
      Bob Holly was always a brawler/grappler so the move stood out more. He was obviously plenty athletic to do it. It just wasn't in keeping really with the way he worked the rest of matches so it felt more like a big move as a result.
      A strong argument could be had that although Dolph and Randy have better execution, Bob performed the move better

    Runner up for sidewalk slam I'd put Kane. especially if the opponent was coming off the ropes. it didn't look as impactful as Nash but it was done so smooth like it was one fluid motion. idk where I'd place him but Scott Steiner had a scary looking belly to belly back in the day

      @georgemetcalf8763 Рік тому

      Yeah, the Steiners' suplexes always looked vicous. Not that Angle or Benoit couldn't hurt people, but somehow the Steiners' made the suplexes brutal without being technical.

    Christian's variation of the Reverse DDT is a favorite of mine.

    • @Somnogenesis
      @Somnogenesis Рік тому +1

      Yes! I always gave the move to my CAW version of myself in PlayStation games because I loved it so much. Because you're not lifting the opponent in any way, it's always seemed like one of the best moves for looking high-impact without the person giving it needing to be a powerhouse.
      Weirdly I don't think I've ever seen anyone else except Christian do it in 'real life', but it's a thing of beauty when sold correctly. For me, DDP in their WM18 match is the gold standard here, when Christian blocked a Diamond Cutter by holding onto the turnbuckle and transitioned it into the most gorgeous diving reverse DDT.

      It's a watered-down version of his original OVW finisher (when he was known as The Prototype), which was called the Protobomb - and which was then sort of halfway between a spinout powerbomb and spinout slam.
      When it was transitioned into just one of Cena's standard Five Moves of Doom sequence in WWE to lead into the FU/AA, it became more of a 'pure' slam. And weirdly it never actually gained a name, it was always just "that spinny slam thing Cena does to set up the Five Knuckle Shuffle" 🤣

    Triple H's spine buster is the best. The only one close in my mind was Ron Simmons and he just kind of acts like he doesn't want the other guy near him anymore and can't be bothered.🤣 Also Simon, knowing how much of a legend Triple H is to you, you should adopt your own versions of some of his moves for your wrestling matches. That would be great.
