The Waterfalls of South Mountains State Park (North Carolina)

Welcome back, adventurers! In this episode of Boots on the Trail we hike in North Carolina's largest state park: South Mountains. This was a short, but lovely winter hike to 2 of the park's waterfalls, Big Bear Falls and the awe-inspiring High Shoals Falls. Both of these falls have an upper section as well that is also worth the efforts to continue climbing up. Recent rains made for good water flow and some very slick stairs 😆. The trail to Big Bear Falls was recently constructed allowing visitors a good official access. Previous access was only via bushwack and social trails, so this was nice addition to the park.
