    Thank you for the update Joe. I ordered a 2016 GTS back in June of 2015. I took delivery of it in Germany and had it shipped back to the US in May 2016 after three months in Europe. Only difference is mine is a 7 speed manual. I do change my own oil as the $440 dealer cost consists of a $15 filter $40 in oil and less than 30 minutes of my time. I do appreciate those who have dealer records though. The NAs are now appreciating. Best to you!

    Joes channel is so enjoyable. Joe and Cody (Doctam3), are such great rolemodels - especially for young brothas like myself. I found Joe's channel during a rough time. I graduated from pharmacy school im 2018 and I was jobless well into 2019. Joes channel gave me a much needed getaway during the looming stress. I'm happy to say that i found a job mid 2019 and recently switched to another company within my field. Im loving the new gig. Talking cars, i love that you drive your vehicles Joe. I purchased and Alfa Romeo 4c spider as a gift for myself after such a hard time. I often think about keeping the miles low. You remind us of the importance of driving and enjoying the vehicles we have. Thank you for the presence that you have in my life. Your encouragement is grately appreciated.

      Wow, thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad I was able to help in even a very small way. I am very happy to hear that your job situation is progressing positively and productively. That's so awesome. Keep moving forward! Regarding cars, yes, these cars are engineered to be driven. I do take care of the 911, keeping it clean and serviced, so my wife and I can enjoy it, but I am not preserving it for some future owner. I am taking care of it so WE can enjoy it. And the best way to enjoy the 911 is to drive it! Enjoy your Alfa!!!

    Thanks for the update! The absurd cost of maintenance is one of my biggest concerns around owning a Porsche sports car. Those figures are hard to stomach unless you're in the top 5% of income earners.

    • @Joe_Hutchinson
      @Joe_Hutchinson  3 роки тому +2

      The cost at a dealer service department is expensive, no doubt about it. A private shop would be more reasonable. As some folks have said in the comments, I could do an oil and filter change on my own. But when it comes to changing brake pads and rotors and changing tires on my center lock wheels, I want a pro to do it.

    • @dlg5485
      @dlg5485 3 роки тому

      @@Joe_Hutchinson That makes sense. Also, so much of the value of these cars on the preowned market depends of the completeness of your dealer service records. Without a full dealer service record, many buyers won't offer a fair price for a used Porsche.

    • @Joe_Hutchinson
      @Joe_Hutchinson  3 роки тому

      @@dlg5485 Excellent point. In my case, the only team working on my car is the dealer service department where I bought the car from. Although I don't have any plans to sell, maybe it will pay off when I do.

      Here in Sweden a regular oil change is 14 000skr ~ 1400$ at the local Porsche center, and that’s is expensive

    I know service stamps are huge for resale value but $440 for oil and filters is robbery. These non turbo cars are not that hard to do basic service on if you want to give it a go. And for a 5 year old car it still look modern, I don’t think that design will ever look bad

    My rear brakes went long before the front brakes did on my 991.2 C2. A car without torque vectoring. I thought it was very strange as well. Still don’t know a why. On my 992 C2S the brakes seem to be holding up much better all around.

    Joe, now that it is just over 5 years old, have you had any issues with coolant leaks that I have read about on forums. Leaks from the water pump and joints, the latter is one I see at the plastic pipe at the cast aluminum thermostat housing?

    Thanks for the breakdown. I generally like mid-engined Italian cars more but you can't beat the maintenance cost compared and reliability on this compared to those. I would rather own a GTS/GT3 than a Gallardo or 430 in the same price range.

    • @Joe_Hutchinson
      @Joe_Hutchinson  3 роки тому +1

      My understanding is that the maintenance costs on the Italian sports cars is much greater as you have stated. The Italian cars you have mentioned are quite special though. I am sure they are a thrill to drive. But boy, a bigger financial commitment to own.

    It seems like 991.1 GTS have just stopped depreciating. In Canada, they are the same price as 2017 and 2018 GTS!

    Considering a 2015 in next couple days.. these years later, what's your advice? Was originally going to hold out for a 992 C2S, but recently came across this GTS and started looking into it and have become obsessed with the sound and looks.

    • @Joe_Hutchinson
      @Joe_Hutchinson  3 роки тому

      I am very happy with mine after 6 these years. If you are buying used, I would have the car inspected by a trusted independent Porsche shop. I bought this current 911 new, but the previous 911 I owned was used and I had a reputable independent Porsche shop conduct a pre-purchase inspection to make sure the car was good to go. It brought me peace of mind. Both 911s I have owned have been great. With the current 991, there was a fluke electronic system failure that occurred while the car was in the dealer's service center and they diagnosed and fixed it at no cost. I think a "control board" went bad. Service techs said that system failure was very rare and they'd only seen it once before at that service center. Other than that, the car just needs routine maintenance that you conduct on any other car. Change fluids annually etc. In the 6 years of ownership, I needed new rear brakes/pads twice and this spring I will need the front brakes/pads replaced for the second time. No real issues.

    Hi Joe, long time lurker. I’m in the market for a 992 911. Been eyeing the gts and gt3. How difficult was it to get a gts allocation?

    • @Joe_Hutchinson
      @Joe_Hutchinson  3 роки тому +1

      It has been my experience that it is not difficult to get a GTS allocation. The GTS is not a limited edition run. Having said that, the new version of the GTS isn't available quite yet. I do not believe Porsche has announced when it's coming yet. Porsche is rolling out the new GT3 so I figure the GTS will come later. Back in 2016, a buddy of mine ordered a GTS and specified the options he wanted without any difficulty. I assume it will be the same experience when the new GTS becomes available.

    Hey Joe, I am looking to sell my 991.2 for the naturally aspirated 991.1. Obviously I will lose the CarPlay. Does this car have bluetooth streaming?
