I HAD NO IDEA Andrew was British until I recently watched Love Actually. But I knew about Lauren Cohan since she had a strong Brit accent in The Vampire Diaries.
Damn, British people know their accents! Before this, I was convinced that the Governor, Rick, and Maggie were definitely American. This just goes to show how wonderful of an actor/actress these cast members are! I can't remember the last time I've been sucked into a show like this. It's amazing.
Literally had the HARDEST time sitting here trying to think of where I have seen Lauren Cohen before, and now it hit me that it's supernatural. i guess i only just now realized it hearing her with her accent.
very true! I'm from Mississippi, no way to be more Southern & with a very high Southern drawl accent. Yee-Haw! haha. Rick Grimes/Lincoln southern accent is far more convincing than Maggie's character. But, they do a Great job! btw: I find it so dang funny that Andrew Lincoln's real last name is: 'Clutterbuck.' It means: SHIT-SHOVELER. Truth! lmao
I'll say this much, Lauren Cohan has an odd regular speaking accent. I think she's been living away from the UK for so long that she's actually started to naturalise, whereas Andrew sounds a lot more within his roots.
@@jamesduffy7549 Please! She sounds completely British, even in the show. In her interviews she's 200% British although her father is American and she was born and raised in the U.S.
@@jamesduffy7549 When you say foreign you mean American? To me she doesn't sound American at all.I watched her interview from the San Diego comic con this weekend and she sounded more British than ever. And sometimes this british accent is very intense.
Im from Alabama and I think its really great how on this show they don't overdo the drawl and twang in the southern accent the wat that most movies and tv shows usually do. Very good job guys :D
I've noticed the first few seasons 1-2 Andrew's natural accent sometimes slips up when he's emotional. Haven't seen it slip up at all in the seasons 3-current
I'm an American that lives in Georgia, the state where The Walking Dead is filmed and takes place (I've actually been to the place that doubled as the CDC in the show). I had no idea Andrew Lincoln (or, for that matter,Laura Cohan) were British. I originally thought Lincoln was an American from outside the South trying to do a Southern accent and doing well generally although it's a little inconsistent).
First saw Rick at Love Actually and that's how I knew he was Brit. But Lauren, the way her accent shifted from Southern to her natural accent was amazing. They're both amazing.
"My character is built on caffeine and tension, and that's the Aurora Coffee Shop in Atlanta. They wanted me to wear a T-shirt, but I didn't.... Why am I talking about this?" Gotta love Andrew :P
I was watching TV and he was interviewed, and I hadn't known he was British, so when he started talking, I freaked out. It is very good (and I'm from and living in the South right now.
I read somewhere that Lauren Cohan was American and didn't move to the UK until she was a teenager, but since she didn't mention being familiar with the way Americans talk, now I'm wondering if that's true or not.
Always cracks me up, people who gush over the good looks of TV stars when the reality is that if they were not on TV and you passed them on the street as regular people, you wouldn't think them anything special at all ... that's people for ya!
I already knew the Governor was British--recognized Morrissey in "The Next Doctor" in "Doctor Who" [ruled in that show, too; practically fangirled when I saw him in this one]--but Cohan I had no idea about. All three of these actors and actress are extremely talented, though, and have been/are definitely fit for the roles they have today.
Yeah, a pretty good job, although slightly inconsistent on the Southern part. For the record, most of us, myself included, don't have anything close to the stereotypical drawl that you here in Rick, Shane, and Maggie's accents. In fact, most of us sound more like Chandler Riggs (Carl), who is actually from Atlanta. The CDC on The Walking Dead is the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, a concert hall just outside of Atlanta.
I hear that. Which is why the only fast food I eat are the fries (chips). Real restaurants are where it's at. I live in New York City, so it's easy to find great places to eat out.
According to wiki she was born in Philadelphia. Then during her teens she moved to her mothers native country, which is in the UK. According to wiki her mother is Scottish and Laura split her time and work between London and LA. So basically I don't know :P
She's actually technically American, as she was born in Philadelphia. She moved to the United Kingdom in her teens, although she still has a British accent. :)
P.s if you like David Morrisey, get the film Stoned, about the life of Brian Jones of the Rolling stones. Not sure how it did in the U.S but its a quality film as is David.M's performance.
yeah, thats amazing that Andrew Lincoln is a Brit......he did such a perfect job on the American accent. I was shocked to find out he wasn't an American. He is a damn good actor
I always thought Laura was British honestly because she just looks British.. (I know stupid reason) but when I looked her up on IMDB it says she is from Pennsylvania?!
yeah, the Governor too, . Since I found out they are Brits I have been listening to their dialog very closely now....and still can't find any hint of their Brit accent. Absolutely perfect. I wonder if doing that accent for so long if they ever slip back into character when at home, it would probably drive their families crazy
yo. I knew right away that laura Cohan was brit, not because of her accent, but because of the shape of her mouth and the way she moved her mouth. as far as the other two go, (the governor and Rick) I knew they were faking an accent, only because the other americans in the show didn't have same type of accent. but when I found out they were brits i was shocked as hell.
WTF, Maggie is a Brit too? Them American accents are sick. I didn't even know Lincoln was English until I saw some behind the scenes clip. I was like oh shit lol.
Andrews American accent is good but the deep grimy voice he does on the show sometimes comes off weird and sounds like he's trying way too hard to sound serious and tense. but he's a great actor
I actually never knew Laura Cohen was British! She does her American accent very very well! I've noticed some slips in Rick's but it's more than less perfect!
You heard her herself she trained for hours every week to get the accent, she didn't magically have the accent anybody can do any accent they just have to learn it.
It's all English so it's the same as doing a regional thing I would assume. Plus we've all grown up watching American TV shows for the last 40 years which I would of thought helps.
i had no idea she was british too?!?!?!?! crazzzyyy ...and that one black guy on the last episode.....( from season 3 and beggining of season one) is too..
just think how hard it would be for a country/southern man(me) to talk with a english accent full time , I tried it its very hard plus acting out a whole long scene would take a lot of work
I think its because we realize the difference between the different american accents they are and can pick up on them, where as Americans think we all sound like harry potter etc.
Yeah, it is pretty good. I'm from the American Deep South, so it sounds legit. Of course, there's actually a variety of Southern dialects that differ from region to region, state to state, and among social classes. An upper class "genteel" type usually has a slower, smoother and more sophisticated drawl, for example. I wouldn't doubt that it is easy for him to do a good Southern American accent because the dialect holds strong ties with British dialects, particularly Scottish.
Her accent is 100% British. Even in the show she sounds British , in her interviews she sounds more English than Andrew who's completely English and he was born in London.
No, the Vikings "found" North America first. If we're talking about what is now USA, I believe Spanish ships explored the coastline before the British. There were many nations discovering the continent simultaneously, giving credit solely to the Brits would be wrong.
Andrew is such an amazing actor, I had absolutely no idea he was British, I thought he was from the south. I admire him as an actor, as for Lauren, I knew.
Wow i had no idea about the 2 brits either, they seem very American on the the show to me....same as with Damian Lewis, had no idea the all-American Band of Brothers guy was a brit til I saw him on Top Gear recently
I'm from Georgia and have heard some really horrible southern accents on TV and movies, but I was shocked the first time I heard him speak with a British accent on The Talking Dead. I had no idea he wasn't a local.
Were you also shocked that Vivien Leigh who played a Georgia girl was also British? Could you imagine any American actress in this role? Because I don't.
Andrew Lincoln walking into the coffee shop like..."I'd like some stuff...and thangs..." XD
I'd Like a CORAL shake and some thangs.
HAH
Kin ye git me one o’ them coldrinks? And maybe a Moon Pie? Thanks, darlin’.
Not today. Maybe not tomorrow...but I will kill this extra large Starbucks coffee.
Being a Georgia native, I think Andrew completely nails it without being "over the top". Excellent actor!
Everyone's accent is pretty good, except many Darrel's SOFEEEAAA!!
Nathan Farley its Daryl
O
Maggie and Rick are British?! This is blowing my goddamn mind. Hahaha
So is Morgan's actor, Lennie James ;)
D4NIELLA Yeah, the actor playing Morgan (Lennie James) is British as well.
Also the governor!
He went to my school ;)
I Knew rick was british but i didnt know maggie was
What is your name, Rick Grimes??
Uh, I'm, I'm Coral
My name is Coral
STOP IT RICK. MY MIND HAS ALREADY DEEMED YOU AS THE EPITOME OF A SOUTHERN MAN.
I know right
Carl was dead
I wish Andrew Lincoln would have answered in his Rick Grimes voice. I was waiting for it.
YOU DON'T GET WANT YOU WANT! BEETCHSH! THIS ABOUT CARL!

simplyaninsomniac It that what you say in bed? Not very sexy...
I LOVE BOTH OF HIS ACCENTS
theprimadancer101 Who's Carl, oh, you mean Coral.
I love how his southern accent is so harsh and brash and then in real life his accent is so soft and gentle it's really cool.
I don't care if it's a British or a Southern accent, Lauren Cohan is hot.
Faxxxxx bro shes mad fine
Andrew as well
that voice coming out of his face is so weird
tell me about it! when i think of andrew i think of how he talks on the walking dead not his British voice.
I know he is a lot more sexy with the accent by the way I'm a girl so I'm not gay
M1n3r 4 11f3 Nobody cares if you're gay or not...
Rasheedgames yep.....when someone comments something like that everyone else ends up saying GAYYYYYY
First-name Last-name I'm just thinking that if they think he's sexy it doesn't matter if they're gay or not. He's still attractive either way.
Laura gives a perfect coherent answer
then Andrew talks about a coffee shop

the way andrew touches his face reminds me of dylan o'brien
wow, it does.
Omg I hadn't noticed until I saw your comment but it really does !
taeterthot
And there both hot
poor david morrissey hes also british and he got left out of the conversation
He's scottish actually.
Rhys The Company Man hes an english actor that was born in liverpool and liverpool is in england. scotland is far up the uk
Abradolf Lincler he's Liverpudlian (from Liverpool, England)
Maybe cuz his accent was not Southern I think..
I WANTED HIM TO DIE SO BADLY
I think Andrew Lincoln would be good as the new Wolverine with how he had his berserk rage outbursts in TWD plus with the beard as well
He definitely does a good job! I was shocked to find out he was British.
Been looking for this forever. Thank you!
I only knew she was British from Supernatural...anybody?
yupppppp!
Sarah Frakes who?
LeanneGC101 Lauren Cohan
same :D
Sarah Frakes my friend Laura loves that show, but I have never watched it.
WHAT?! I DIDN'T KNOW THIS?!! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS??!!

Him and Jon Bernthal have the greatest Southern accents, both of them normally sound sooo much different
