@edonmusic What is VTPO? And i do love this intrument, from the age of 3 ive been comming to the Senate, the organ has now been well... 98% restored and working at the Senate, and the theater has also been going through some restorations. Things have changed.. and hopfully keep changing for the better with the DTOS. I have resumed going to the Senate every other weekend or more to run the organ and go through the stops to keep on top of things.
@JpoidMikeru i just googled that song.. and i have heard that song really great hymm I have heard that song performed specifically on this organ ... and because this organ has more Wurlitzer "Classical" voicing then "Theater" voicing it really works. Check out my other video where i dont completely butcher Amazing Grace. But like i said .. ive heard some one play Eternal Father Strong on this organ and for some reason i think it was Lance Luce, because hes organist at his church. Thanks.
@ashrayh its in Detroit at the Senate Theater. You have to become a member to play it, but thats just the easy part. If you are ever coming into detroit to see a concert (Personal message me for concert times. Let me know if you can make it and i will bring you in.
Not bad! So with no formal training, just how did you learn to configure registrations, etc? I'd love to play and intend to find a way at some point. I've become involved with the maintenance crew of the beautifully maintained 4/23 in Rochester - coincidentally, it is Opus 1951! - so I have limited access to it and another 3/16. Have no idea where to go to learn to play it. These are incredible instruments (and machines!) and I hope to find a way to keep interest advancing with them.
@flyurway i have very little teachings on electronic organ. thats it.. and the story goes... i wanted to play this song 20 years or more ago.. and got yelled at for improvising from what was written in the easy to read book (seen on the rack) so my dad told my teacher that day "YOU are comming with us to the Senate Theater in Detroit this sunday to attend a concert." she did and after the concert at this very organ. she said " I had no idea anything like this even existed" and quit her job.
Also... thats strange its using my full name now i have to rebuild my account... i am Marshall7302 lol The organ has almost completed its entire restoration ... so everything sounds so much better and fuller and NOT SO MANY DEAD NOTES... i cant wait to go back and play it ... i have Les Miserables sheet music im teaching my self so ... more videos to come
long time ago... this organ was in the Fisher Theater.. in the 60s i was installed in the Senate Theater which is where it still lives.. the 8th largest wurlitzer ever built... since this video was recorded... the theater has re-opened and the organ has undergone MAJOR rehabilitation. i have been a part of the organ crew for many years now and we are so proud of the results since this video was taken the organ was almost unplayable. I hope to practice enough to redeem myself and the organ in a new arrangement as well as upload new videos of the entire organ. Sorry it took so long to answer. but stay tuned.. im going to be starting videos this year of the inner workings and other unique things about this organ to get the word out that its one of the best original operating instruments built by wrulitzer running today.
Really cool !!!
