Hey dudes! Hope you enjoy the video. I wanted to start with the basics but we'd like to follow it up with a more in-depth "Easygainer vs Hardgainer" because as I shot this episode I realized it would be cool to go back and forth from what worked for me (an easygainer) and what worked for Brandon (a hardgainer). Finally a clip for us Easy Gainers or Endomorphs. I was 198lbs after cutting from 220lbs but I gained it back and went to 235lbs. I'm now 229lbs. I realized I lost that weight too quickly due to excessive Cardio and underreating so I'm now finding a way to lose it slowly but more efficiently in the long run. Thank you for this Buff Dudes

I’m an #easygainer too. And with that i mean TERRIBLE genetics. I’ve been dieting for 10 years and finally starting to understand my body, but it’s tough. I was blessed with the bad fat genetics too . Took me a long time to come to terms with the fact I can only eat half of what everyone else does . Best exercise is to exercise restraint at the table ! The best thing I ever did was make my breakfast and lunch the same everyday. Choose 2 healthy low cal meals that you enjoy then you only need to think about dinner . Fight on brother 👍
Carnivore and intermittent fasting. Not fun and not for everyone but it works for me. When's there's only hamburger or chicken on the menu, you'll realize your not that hungry lol
Lost 65 lbs after my Dad died, gained a lot back during lockdowns, deep depression, back down again. Thanks for these videos, you guys are like my big brothers!
Love the message in this video! I think there's one more trick I would have included in an easy gainer video and that is fasting. Whether intermittent or 24 or 48-hour fasting. I feel like one mistake I made earlier in my life was fearing that if I didn't eat I would lose my muscle, so I would sometimes rather eat bad food than not eat at all. It's not a good idea. And if you're natural (and have decent development) you don't lose your muscle that easily. So if you have a busy schedule, just fast for a day. Don't eat at all, and the next day, if you can get back to your good diet, you can eat a little more. I find it works great when you have a busy schedule.
This is the first time I saw a video for us #EasyGainers . Not everyone relate to us and understand our pain and struggles. Thanks a million times for this fundamental information and boost of motivation. 💪🏼☯️♥️🤗 .

All of this is because of a busy work schedule and other personal stuff. I really hope I won't stop again this time and just continue. I really miss being fit.
I have watched a few Buff Dude videos the last few days. I will be 38 this year and am way out of shape, these videos have motivated me to better myself. Thank you Buff Dudes
These guys have been a motivation for years, for me and many others. I know there have been videos speaking about hardships and such before, but this video made me feel better about myself and my future. This was the motivation I needed to continue my pursuit of being a BUFF Dude!
Such good advice. I wish I had found this out two years ago when I started my journey. It's taken me that long to figure out a lot of what you are saying but it's good confirmation that I'm on the right track. I'm currenly on a backslide but this motivates me to stop and get back to it. Keep up the good work Buff Dudes!
I'm in the #EasyGainer club too and it was nice to hear your story because there were a few similarities to my own. After years of working IT jobs, bad eating habits, dealing with sciatica issues that started at 23 because of all the excessive sitting, 40 year old me got tired of not being able to see my equipment downstairs so I decided it was time to start getting into better shape and this channel has been a huge help during that journey. I started 2020 at 240 lbs and I managed to cut myself down to 210 lbs by the end of the summer with walking, healthier eating habits and building myself up to exercising 3 times a week though I have been giving myself too much guff lately because my weight has been creeping back up to the 220 lb mark and my original goal was to get down to an even 200. Your suggestion about ignoring the weight on the scale and looking in the mirror is how I'm going to treat that number from now on because quite frankly I am liking what I'm seeing and I have had friends comment on how much better I'm looking. I just need to put in some more work around being patient with myself while I keeping working towards the less belly fat, more muscles goal so I can be even leaner by the time I hit 41 in the fall. For now I'm just happy I can see downstairs again and that I haven't had any sciatica issues since I started this journey. Many thanks, The Rambly NPC
Thank you. Not only for the fun and instructive content. But also for speaking an easy to understand english, for me as a not native english speaker has been very easy to understand your talking. 😍
Consistency is KEY... one who trains for even just 10-15 minutes a day every day... will have better results than someone who trains hard for 6 months then takes 3-6 months off
Everyone’s a hard gainer when following somebody else’s diet and training program. It’s more of a miracle than a coincidence if you start eating and training like Mike O’hearn or some friend of yours and see any significant results. It’s all about trial and error to see what works for you and that takes time, patience and consistency.
OMG can you guys make a podcast? This is probably been requested by so many other people but I’m going to request it again for everyone. I would totally listen to this podcast all day every day. It doesn’t even have to be about health and fitness, listen to anything you guys talk about. With, of course, special guest appearances from the family :-)
This is what I needed, thank you.... It's so weird that people only make videos for hardgainers even though there are just as many easygainers out there
Thanks Hudson you guys are so great. I’m definitely an easy gainer. I put on pounds just looking at junk food. But your channel has helped me so so much in my fitness and my general life journey. You and Brandon should be so proud of yourselves, you both rock!
I am not sure how to phrase this shorter than, thank you! I’ve been as many people trying out different workout compositions/plans and different ways to eat. I’ve even had (which I think is very common today) the wrong goals set for me, trying to deff without first building up a good physique. Just unhealthy starving. However each time I fell out of it, feeling weak and unmotivated. Lately I’ve started working out and just focusing on having fun with the compound movements and eating loads of food. Just good home cooked food to fuel my body without measuring too much. Bottom line is I’ve never felt better, both physically and mentally. I feel like more people have to realize just the importance of those things you bring up in the video because it makes the world difference. Not looking at those Instagram pictures and listening to the influencers that tries to preach deffing. Thank you for being honest about this! 🙌🏻
I’m currently recovering from a bulged disc and fell off the wagon. I can’t wait to get back to the gym Ian’s restart my journey. Thank you for the excellent video!
Awesome video, great information to share! I'm an Mesomorph working alongside an Endomorph and we're on a journey together to get back to our ideal shapes (back to our 30s) now that we're both in the 40s range. Picked up the cookbook and working through some of your routines and we are both pleased with the results. Keep up the great work and motivating millions in their fitness journeys.
This video definitely was the pick me up that I needed for the week! It's so true how looking at a number can really be devastating and can lead you down a slippery slope. Just wanted to simply say thanks cause I enjoy your videos such as this one that do hit the key points in an honest fashion. Shows how you guys stay real with your following and are willing to be vulnerable to share your stories directly with people! Stay buff!
Could you chaps do a video addressing body recomposition? I'm currently trying to lose fat, but build/keep muscle. I think a decent video on it would be a good bit of content.
Great video, Hudson. This really speaks to me because I’m definitely an easy gainer. As I’ve gotten older I can’t do certain movements like deadlifts or squats anymore due to lower back issues. So I guess I’m just going to continue to adapt and work on what I can
@Hudson thanks for posting this. I've struggled with an eating disorder since grade school, Wishing i could be like the "thin girls." I'm 39 and in the best shape of my life, yet it still feels like I'm climbing a mountain some days. I really needed to see this. Thanks 😊
Thanks for this. I've been struggling lately with a lot of what you have talked about throughout this video. I keep telling myself that it's ok, but then I get irritated when I find myself creeping back over the 200lb mark. I've recently rejoined the gym world, and I can see the difference between what I have been doing at home and what I can do with weights. I've been watching your channel for a while and have always picked up great information and lots of laughs, but I think this is probably the best thing I've seen from any fitness channel. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your and your time with this video. Thank you.
Regressed the last 5 years, finally decided to get back on track. It's going ot suck, but I got to just get on with it. Thanks for the video, love your work.
Hello for Norway!. Thanks for the video and the awesome advice. Been watching your channel for 4 years now and I always enjoy watching your videos. I can really connect with all the things you talk about in this video as an "easy gainer". Been working out since 2015 and have been able to gain muscle but fat as well. Diet plays such a huge role in gaining muscle without all the excess calories that turn into body fat. So eating simple and clean contributes in a big way to achieving results. Thank you for the video and can't wait for more in the future ;)
Hell yeah on the "flashlight" brother. The TDEE + MyFitnessPal is literally the best combination of tools out there. MyFitnessPal is great for creating meals when you meal prep! Also, not focusing on the scale. I look WAY better at 250 lean than I did at 230 doughy lol, and it's a morale breaker if you let it. Great video!!!
Turned 30, broke an arm and leg in a motorcycle accident, and got an office job (after walking 8-10 miles a day for work previous) within a few months of one another. My body comp has completely flipped where the lean weight I used to be proud of is now made up of fat. This channel always gets me motivated to get my shit together when I let life changes get in the way of health and fitness
Easy gainer. I like that. I have a problem where a lot of carbs my body won't process so the mass tends to linger. I found a ketogenic or low carb diet even solved a lot of my health issues. I see a lot of body builders lean towards rice all the time but I discovered that you do not need carbs to build muscle. Once you are fat attuned your body will blast fat for energy just as efficiently as it would carbs.
"ITS GOING TO TAKE TIME" Its true people lets just enjoy our journey on fitness its not a competition its a process/progression time by time day by day year by year we are slowly getting our dream physique
This was a really good video. I am so happy Hudson was so real in this video. More people need to hear these things. He described life to a T! Hudson is winning at life. He is in shape, he has a BEAUTIFUL wife and great and HAPPY kids!
Great video again! With inspiration and motivation through all video's of you guys i've lost 13 kilograms of fat in 12 weeks and starting to gain visible muscle right now. Feel so much better and i'm starting to really get into shape. Love you guys 👊
I think what I'm enjoying the most about beginning my weight lifting journey is the increased amount of food I can eat! Im a female and I used to eat roughly 1200 cals a day and always felt tired with low energy because I was always trying to get a lower number on the scale and lose fat. Now as Im building muscle and fuelling the body properly I eat 1800-2000 cals a day and I feel so GOOD!! And even better the number on the scale has increased but my composition is changing and I look leaner + I finally have the energy to get stuff done. Counting macros is also a game changer!
This is exactly what I needed to hear right now. After a weeks vacation and then a week being ill, I've slipped off the wagon and needed a kick to motivate me. I know most of the answers but as an easy gainer, surprising how much of the wrong weight you can gain in 2 weeks 😢
I needed to hear the part about regression today. I'd also never really thought of myself an "easygainer" until I considered it may not just involve muscle gaining. Definitely always been an easygainer in the bad way my whole life. I didn't even start lifting or working out in any real capacity until my mid 30s. Without having any real foundation in physical activity, all my progress has been on a curve. So, needless to say I get VERY discouraged sometimes with my lack of progress. Buff Dudes videos have always been a means of getting me back on the right track.
I appreciate the hard work, dudes! I will make sure to share this short clip with everyone I know and love! Subscribing to your channel ( since 2012? ) was one the great decisions of my life, seriously! God Bless you and your lovely family!
That TDEE calculator is awesome! =) Gordon Ramsay uses a half pound of butter to make one serving of scrambled eggs & olive oil the size of the oil reserves of Iraq to cool a single portion of chicken w/sauce though... XD (I'm certain his stuff tastes absolutely amazing, but can't be good for you.) Absolutely love that you are one of those that people (including myself) hold up as a target for how we want to look Hudson, yet are also a regular person & aren't afraid to share the problems you've experienced. The insecurities, struggle for balance, injuries, failure, motivation problems, etc... it's easy to believe people who look like yourself don't suffer from those.
Thank you so much for talking about this! I remember being there at the beginning of my journey, looking through youtube and only finding information about hardgainers. It was really sad and I felt sort of alienated.
This year I've hit my biggest hurdle so far... I've developed a nasty varicose vein in my left leg and can't lift heavy with it or it'll get painful and worse... I'm waiting til after the summer to get it removed (surgery can't be done in hot weather)... but it's totally killed my motivation. Too much self-pity going on at the moment... need to get outta the rut! Thanks for always providing inspiration 💪💪
I’ve got a recurring back problem that messes up my training every so often- I find the trick is to train around the problem, rather than let it stop you. I started Pilates, only do pistol squats and deadlift with the trap bar, that’s helped me. Hopefully you can work out your own solution. Good luck.
@@joemacleod-iredale2888 thanks for the advice. I feel your frustration with the back issue... I've been suffering with Sciatica since April and lost some sensation in my right foot from it. Hope you make progress with your back issue soon. I've managed to do some some exercises to train around the leg vein problem, like benching with my legs elevated and stuff like that. As you might agree from your injury, I get frustrated not being able to go hell for leather on exercises, to the point of losing motivation of doing them at all! Maybe if I can do very lightweight exercises to failure it might work... I'm happy to look at this as a weight loss / cutting period in preparation for a bulk when I get my leg fixed... but for now gotta get the right approach physically and mentally!
@@nomad_lad I know the numb foot feeling that comes with sciatica and the Pilates suggestion from @Joe MacLeod-Iredale helped me work out my sciatica issues. I started with the Child's Pose and walking to stretch things out then waited until the pain was more on the tolerable side before moving up to lighter weights to failure. This has worked against me on occasion too but keeping a low and slow pace is what kept me from doing any more damage until I got thru it. Hope all goes well with the surgery.

At 48, its time for me to start working out. I never had to before because I had a fast metabolism and I looked like I was in shape. I havent worked out since 1993. We all start somewhere and ill be looking through your videos for two reasons: motivation and education I have a 3rd degree AC separation on my right shoulder and it will probably limit my ability, but im gonna try!

It's good to have someone point out how social media affects people's mentality and self image. It has happened to me exactly how Hudson described.
I think a decent video on it would be a good bit of content.
eat less train harder could also be the name of the video
Thank you.
Love this so much ,please do more on easy gainers
Finally someone talking about us, thank you very much.
Your channel has such an integral approach to health and body image. Great content!
Regressed the last 5 years, finally decided to get back on track.
It's going ot suck, but I got to just get on with it.
Thanks for the video, love your work.
Damn! This Buff Dude is a Prophet!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 thank you
EASY GAINER HERE! Thanks for this!
9:15 I really appreciate the failure talk. Many other fitness youtubers don't talk about it and how it happens to themselves as well.
"ITS GOING TO TAKE TIME"
Its true people lets just enjoy our journey on fitness its not a competition its a process/progression time by time day by day year by year we are slowly getting our dream physique
Love you guys and your positivity. And I love the mini skits you do in between the narration. Funny stuff. Thanks for the motivation
Awesome video. Nice motivation pump up. Just what I needed, thanks 😊
I appreciate the hard work, dudes! I will make sure to share this short clip with everyone I know and love! Subscribing to your channel ( since 2012? ) was one the great decisions of my life, seriously! God Bless you and your lovely family!
Buff Baby is well on his way to being a full fledged buff dude. Buff Dudes yeah!!!
Loved this video! So humble & honest. Keep it simple. I relate so well. Thank you. ~ love from South-Africa 🤝
Really great info for those of us who are hitting middle age and don't have the metabolism we used to.
That TDEE calculator is awesome! =)
Gordon Ramsay uses a half pound of butter to make one serving of scrambled eggs & olive oil the size of the oil reserves of Iraq to cool a single portion of chicken w/sauce though... XD (I'm certain his stuff tastes absolutely amazing, but can't be good for you.)
Absolutely love that you are one of those that people (including myself) hold up as a target for how we want to look Hudson, yet are also a regular person & aren't afraid to share the problems you've experienced. The insecurities, struggle for balance, injuries, failure, motivation problems, etc... it's easy to believe people who look like yourself don't suffer from those.
THANK YOU!!!! my biggest struggle is LOSING weight by far. I can easily put on size but trying to lose fat is a struggle.
A good excuse to skip leg day if you ask me.
Time to get a 315 bench, my dude
@@nomad_lad I know the numb foot feeling that comes with sciatica and the Pilates suggestion from @Joe MacLeod-Iredale helped me work out my sciatica issues. I started with the Child's Pose and walking to stretch things out then waited until the pain was more on the tolerable side before moving up to lighter weights to failure. This has worked against me on occasion too but keeping a low and slow pace is what kept me from doing any more damage until I got thru it. Hope all goes well with the surgery.
I’m currently on the Power stage of the Buff Dudes workout plan. This video was a great encourager to keep going and be proud of the progress I’ve made so far :) thank you dudes for all that you do, and remember, STAY BUFF!!!!
this video inspired me 😯. even the outro, stay buff 💪
Im a gym bro who had an amazing physique but after lockdowns I lost it all but this video is definitely helping me out find my way .... again !
Thanks for the video Hudson, it was just what i needed right now as I'm falling out of my good habits due to an extremely busy schedule... just what i needed to see today.
Finally a video that talks about what the fitness journey is really like. Too many videos focus on fast results with minimal effort. Leave it to the Buff Dudes to keep it real 💪
Awesome and very informal video buff dudes! Wish me luck guys to day is my chest and back day. My back is lagging so ill do weighted pulls and rows till failure.
Great video Hudson!
You guys have so much good real life info and advice on this channel. I just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do. You have helped me tremendously with your training videos and your recipes are by far the best “anabolic” recipes on UA-cam in my opinion. You guys should put out a buff dudes cook book. I’d buy the bell out of that.
You have inspired me to continue my push.
Thank you for the tips and motivation. I'm trying to get back @ it and this video let me know I'm on the right track. Stay Buff!
New subber. Thanks for this, it helps a lot and I'm looking for similar results and I love how you made it simple and straightforward
At 48, its time for me to start working out. I never had to before because I had a fast metabolism and I looked like I was in shape. I havent worked out since 1993. We all start somewhere and ill be looking through your videos for two reasons: motivation and education
I have a 3rd degree AC separation on my right shoulder and it will probably limit my ability, but im gonna try!
Buff dudes by far has put out incredible information that's easy to follow and it's working perfectly for me thanks guys
You guys been helping me out so much been loving the way I look! Thank you guys keep it up love the content!
Very good video!
I myself is trying to get in shape using the Mobility band workout plan!
Cheers!
Kevin
Honest and realistic messaging, as usual 👏🏾
Totally me bro... I put on weight so damn easy, but I have my diet in order and am hitting the gym now... So I hope to see results in a few months.
Really loved the video, my Buff Dudes! It makes my mind at ease to know that even the people that I aspire to be like, from time to time go through the same stuff as I do. It puts everything in perspective and lets me know that nothing is insurmountable. This is why I love your channel, guys. You´re the best
Finally someone who understands! 💪
Great video Hudson! Just what I needed to hear. I’m an easy gainer and I backslid after having surgery done. YATS FFUB
5:04 yep the perfect lighting for making yourself look less shredded.
I'm in my late 30's and have had little luck gaining without gaining too much fat. I think I am now in good shape but skinnier than I'd like. Not a terrible problem but I still want to improve. These tips will help.
I love you guys! You are very motivational.
