I hope to get there soon. Started in November and this channel was the main reason I’m now consistently shooting under 100. What a fun game when you play the course and don’t let the course play you!!! Stay within your skill set and hit shots you are comfortable with. My toolbox is slowly expanding and my consistency is improving. Trying to stay patient and know it will eventually happen.
Hey, not sure if you will see this comment. About two weeks ago Im struggling to break 100, I watched some of your break 100 & 90 videos. You mentioned that if I followed your guidelines I will break 90 like its nothing within 10 rounds. After 3 round, I shot an 82 yesterday without driver. Thanks Matty 💪 For anyone curious, biggest changes I've made is getting a GPS device. Range finder alone is not enough. 2. No ego shot, always plan for your comfort shot. Bogey is good score 3. Play your shot shape, do not go against it & plan where is a good miss with it
P.I.C. I sit here at the bar after my best round ever. Previous best was 79, new low is 74. I'm not joking, I've been playing 20 straight hours of GSK. Thank you, Playa. Thank you for teaching me to play MY game and fuck all the outside expectations and noise. You are truly unique and so is your guidance.
You have helped me better understand this game. I have been shooting low 90's consistently since watching your channel. How about hosting a golf tournament in Thailand for those of us who would come out there? Ill be in the Philippines playing the South Forbes course in Silang Cavite from Dec to February. I can make it there during that stay. Keep up the great work. You are really helping a lot of golfers better enjoy the game by better understanding how to score.
been watching your videos for months, and shot my best round ever last weekend. from regularly shooting 120+ to an 88, over the course of 6 months. can't thank you enough for these videos.
Because of you I have decided to transition. I am now a toe down chipper and finally feel like my true self. All those years of not practicing, feeling like a good golfer on the inside but leaving chips 20 feet short and then 3 putting. Not anymore! I am now putting from off the green, if I can’t putt I toe down chip, if I can’t do either I am in GIOTG mode. Not over thinking it.

Playa I shot 6 over in 9 holes yesterday and give you all the credit. It's my first year playing seriously after a 12 year hiatus and I've been watching your channel since I started up again in April. Keep doing what you're doing new players like me need to see this shit
I appreciate you Matty, due to injury I had to switch to left handed 3 months ago and after 2 months of watching your videos and reading Bob Rotella books I’ve had my last 7 games under 100 and the last 4 games at 94 and 91. Thanks a lot for what you do and how you help a lot of players, I just recommended several friends and my brother to your channel! Cheers
Just wanted to say I watched a couple of your ‘break 100 videos’ which changed my entire mindset. Yesterday I played my daughter’s boyfriend and he was intrigued as I quietly ‘plotted’ myself around the course with no big hits, etc. I scored 92 and had the most enjoyable round I’ve played in ages, hoping to try and break 90 by the end of the year … thanks so much dude … 😊
I took your advice and visited my pro last week. Finally I am able to hit the ball straight. And combined with your mental and course tips, I was able to play a 108. That was by far my best game as a beginner and I was really happy. Thank you Masta Playa! Next goal: Beating the 100!
Boyfriend! Broke 80 for the first time in over 10 years this week and used almost every method I have heard you teach. I took irons and woods off the tee when I wasn't 100% confidential, I used toe down chipping, I didn't get angry at myself for making double, I accepted bogey as a good score, I talked to myself out loud several times saying GIOTG! I wasn't focused on making long putts, but more focused on distancey control, I played to par 5's in three shots by breaking my second in halves rather than trying to hit the three wood or 5 wood. Everything you teach works IF you just put the ego away. I even followed your advice on writing the actual score down rather than writing +1, +2, or - and didn't talley everything up until the end. I knew I played well and though maybe I shot 82 or 83, but was shocked when I added everything up for a 77! Thank you so much for all your videos on course management rather than swing techniques. Stay hard gang banger!
I started golfing about 2 years ago and couldn’t break 100 to save my life, i’ve started watching your vids and just recently shot a 91! it was an easier course but thanks for making me feel like a boss :)
Matt, another video gem of yours. You change it up enough to not be boring, like I felt a green Martian was teaching me 😂. By the way last week I finally broke 90 with an 89. It was non-eventful playing, with no balls in the trees or water. Smooth, not trying to kill it swings and it was a day that almost everything went right. The next game I did a 100, but I figured all the mistakes I made which was 11 of them which had I not done that, it could of been an 89 again. I’ve come to the conclusion that some days you got it and other days you don’t. On the days you don’t you have to stick to the plan every hole and every shot. When people I play with notice how better I am becoming they want to know how I do it. I tell them they have to watch the Golf Sidekick to learn and be thoroughly entertained. Love your videos!!! ❤❤❤
Following your advice on toe-down chipping, avoiding the driver at narrow fairway points, and playing GIOTG ( getting on in three for par four, four on par fives) I knocked nine strokes off my 49 average for nine, and got a 40, with two birdies (sunk a 30 foot toe-down chip) and a par. Missed a 39 by two inches (left short on the last stroke). Thanks for the break 90 video.
confidential and confidence are completely different words and have very different meanings. I love this video and all your great tips, my brain just can't get past the confidential shot one.
Super instruction GS! Sometime, could you make a video of your 10 or 20 best tips for the “golf swing”(ex: titties toward the target). I think it would be helpful for us “non-pros.” I love your course management approaches. Keep up the great work!
Love your channel! Really helps me simplify golf. Question--what is the golf course mapping tool you are using (for instance the one shown in the first minute)?
I love how your face just keeps getting more and more green every hole lol 😂 - I am really working on your way of playing the game - I am loving it. Keep up the good work my dude
Baus Mattie, you’ve helped me reach a turning point in my game. I’ve been stuck in the mid to high 90’s over the last year. Yesterday I shot an 86 on my home course. Way of the Playa has a LOT to do with it. No triples, played the par 5’s even par, par 3’s were two over total, only one penalty stroke. Felt like a Baus. Low net for our club match at 64. Such a great feeling. Thanks for sharing your golf confidentiality with us. 👍🏻🏌🏻♂️
TLDR: Thank you so much for bringing me back to understanding how to score. I used to be a decent golfer. My swing has been out in the wilderness for about three years. I mean, it was so bad that I couldn't even break 100 anymore. Mentally, I just knew I was going to be over 100 and lose golf balls. I took every club out of my bag and then I added back the putter, LW(100yd club), SW, GW, PW, and 9i(150yd club, at the time because I was 3/4 swinging). Went out and immediately broke 100. Had a 94 or 95. Before the round I hit a few balls on the driving range. Snagged 5 OP balls from the basket, figuring I would need them. Finished the round with the same ball that I started the round with. I had made the game all about my swing and forgotten that the game is all about course management. I'm now going to add my 8 and 7i until I break 90, while also practicing my Driver and 3W. Just a nice, smooth swing with a long club to give myself an advantage off the tee on Par 5s and long par 4s. Golf is fun again, where it had been a frustrating mess. I'm quite confident I'll be back in the 80s in a couple months, and then break 80 by the end of the year. I watch your videos to re center myself on what I should be doing. Safe shots, play to Texas. A 200 yd shot means two LW shots to me now, not a 5 or 6i. If I go for the pin on a 200yd shot, I'm probably going to have to two putt, or I may miss the green. If I take two 100yd shots, I'm going to be close enough to the pin that I can one putt most of the time.
Hey there, I'm traveling to Thailand-Phuket in October.. I was wondering if you ever played any courses around there? Would love to rent some clubs and play a course there. ( Your traveling vlog a while back inspired me)
Loads more loft. Hybrids are more like irons. But you're missing the point with the 7W. You don't need to hit a 7W to score better, you take the most confidential club you have off of the tee. Matty uses the 7W because he can rely on it more than a driver. If you hit the 7H consistently then use it as your Tee Box club until you hit something longer more consistently
