Do you typically leave the camper on the truck? We have a big 44ft toy hauler. Been trying to talk the hubby into one of these for off season or quick trip. We live in western NY and just hit our first harvest host this summer. Would love to be able to take it with us wherever we go!

@@Roughinit good morning and thanks for watching. I just got this a couple weeks ago and I can tell you it doesn’t matter for my F150 rather I leave it on there or take it off. I have done both over the last couple weeks. I drop it when I need to “claim” a campsite. I did add 2500 pound leaf springs to my truck a couple years ago. It barely squats my truck at all. I have a 30 foot tagalong that never leaves my property lol. I would say this is perfect for that quick weekend getaway. My wife and I are loving it.

What is your payload rating on the f150? I put my 620 on a f250. Just wondering how the f150 handles the load.

@@brandonv4900 Hello Brandon. Thanks for watching, and I’m glad you asked. The payload on this 2010 F150 is 1400 pounds from the factory and the camper has a dry weight of 1900 pounds. I’ve built the suspension up thanks to General Springs out of KC Missouri and Fabtech Suspension. I replaced my stock springs with 2500 pound springs and have no problem. I’m not talking about add-a-leafs. I wouldn’t put this on my 2010 without the mods I did though. I spent a lot of money on my suspension front and back. Struts, suspension lift and these springs. www.generalspringkc.com/2009-2014-f150-rear-heavy-duty-leaf-spring-5-4-1-leaves-2500-lbs-capacity/ The 5.4 was built by a company in NJ called Promar Precision Engines. It feels a lot stronger than the OEM I had. I don’t remember the name of the heavy duty brakes. The wheels are Black Rhino which are built for Offroad abuse and the Maxxis Razr At 37 tires are F rated 12 ply. I am replacing my 3:55 gears with 4:56 next. This truck is a beast and that camper has a nice center of gravity. I live in Illinois and have wind tested it a plenty. The newer F150s have payloads over 3000 pounds and NüCamp advertises these as built for half tons. We all have to look at our door jamb to see if our factory rating will carry whatever we put on it though. Built my truck to pull my 8800 pound Cherokee camper which it does fine. This truck camper doesn’t phase that truck one bit. I feel very secure when I’m driving it and the F150 size allows me to get into a little tighter spot. Thanks for watching!!

Nice set up. I’m pondering on getting a f150 (smoother ride when not hauling). Thanks for the setup tips 👍

@brandonv4900 I just found out that in 2024 Ford took away the heavy payload package. The highest now is 2400. The highest the payload was 3315 in 2023

Are you retired? I just did from the military. I bought a pull behind Colorado Dutchman, 24ft

@@ivorywilliams7190 Not yet. Buying this was one of my “checks” before I do though! lol. 24 foot is a good size for living/traveling in. I have a Cherokee 26BHS. I thought about buying some low to no property tax land and setting it up for a home base. Thank you for watching and congrats on your retirement!
