GRAMMY'S CHOCOLATE CAKE

- Welcome to our first video! Today we made grammy’s famous chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!
FULL RECIPE
Chocolate cake:
1 cup oil
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup warm water
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
Mix together oil, sugar, and eggs. Add cocoa powder and water, mix. Add flour, baking soda, salt, and milk. Mix until combined.
Pour into two 9" cake pans, bake at 350F for 35-40 minutes, until done.
Peanut butter frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup or 4 tbs butter
3/4 cup peanut butter
splash milk (add more as needed until creamy)
Combine all ingredients with hand mixer. Let cake cool before icing.

That is 100% so true, my grammy died when I was seven so I never got any of her recipes. Although obviously my mom makes amazing food, I'd still love to have her recipes

My great grandmother made her cookie recipe by not measuring. Thank goodness that someone took the time to write down the ingredients and figure out the amounts. So cherish the recipes that you can get from your granny

So fun to see a different side of Daniel the farmer and get acquainted with Sadie. New subscriber from So Cal. When I asked my grandma for some of her recipes she also didn’t have measurements. I don’t know how to wing it so her banana pudding and creamed corn are lost to me since she passed away. I never had anything “peanut butter” on a cake until I began visiting PA where they often made a Peanut Butter sheet cake so I had plenty for my full stay there. Your cake looked yummy.

My favorite cake is the Nothing Crumb Cake recipe that my mom got from the Kutztown Folk Festival around 1972 or 1973. I love a Boston Cream Pie. I love the Betty Crocker yellow cake recipe, just plain with nothing on it, or with sliced strawberries poured over it. I'm not big on icing. It is just too sweet. I've got a fabulous chocolate pound cake recipe, which I will make with a lemon or orange glaze. I've never been big on fancy. Glad to see you all doing this. Don't let Grammy's recipes be lost. I spent a very long time figuring out what my grandma did with her potato filling after she died. It took me years. I finally figured out she was basically using starting with the recipe in Preston Barba's PA Dutch cookbook, omitting the onions, adding parsley and flipping the proportions of potatoes and bread. I have no idea how my step grandmother was making her pig stomach. It was amazing, and I'll never taste that again. Don't make the same mistake I did, and not get those collected while you can.
You two making some of Grammy's recipes and also showing Grammy making her recipes for us. Will be an awesome way to keep her recipes and love for her family alive for generations to come.

Woohoo Grammy’s recipes! I’m excited for the rhubarb one next.
One of my fondest memories is of the rhubarb that my family harvested from our vegetable garden. We had a lot of it and it just kept growing year after year and expanding in size of the plot. We harvested it often and my mother found new ways to serve it. She made what she called rhubarb sauce She cut it up into bite size pieces and boiled it in sugar water until it had disintegrated into the appearance of apple sauce. It was tasty and not overly sweet. Thanks for refreshing my sweet memory of my mother, over sixty decades ago.

Making Grammys recipes will be great. Maybe also sprinkle in some of what you do In and around the farm store. How things are set up in the store and maybe a few quick clips of Grammy in action. If she will allow it.If you garden in the family garden or in your own at your home. Show us what you plant and just how you do things for your personal garden. If you have a unique hobby and are willing to share some of it. Little snippets of any,some or all of these mentioned make a good day in my life vlog. Just suggests. Enjoyed your first video.

How fun to see you two together! My mother-in-law is a fantastic cook and her recipes are legendary and a well kept secret. Whenever she gave out a recipe, she always withheld one ingredient that made the recipe perfect . Maybe Grammy's cake tastes better because she puts in a secret ingredient? 🤔 Maybe ask her if there's a secret ingredient😊
