I love that NaNa said she was not ashamed to admit she had to learn how to hug and say " I Love you". This is still happening till this day. My family never did any of that. But when I start my family I will let them know every opportunity I have to share my love. Beautiful, thank you for this

My grandmothers shared her love with us and gave us nuggets of wisdom where all her grandchildren were together and she had 42 of her grandchildren her great-grandchildren I can't tell you how many she had them all I know that my grandmother had four generations and she gave all of us a piece of her her wisdom and her spunk it's one of them and my grandmother was a blunt person but funny with it and she love to dress and she was a seamstress back in the day she made all her kids clothes and her grandchildren close especially me I made it a point to go visit my family in the summer so my grandmother can make my school clothes and I'm proud to say she did it until I got out of high school I'm wise today because of my grandmother and my mom and my aunties and uncle one thing I miss about my grandmother her love in her wittiness and old reminisce she used to tell us how to use stuff we already had now and bragging on her because she didn't look her age I miss calling her asking her how to do stuff so the Millennium Generations if you have a grandmother or a great grandmother treasure them thank you Gabe and Nana for this Miss Vernell

It’s so amazing how you can watch someone on UA-cam and literally adore them. Adore the entire family! I’ve been watching the vlogs since you lived in Savannah before Ceej was born I remember the Odd vlogs with Nana when you would go back to Indie on weekends but I never forget when Nana, your mum and Gracie came to visit you when you were in the late stages of pregnancy with Ceej and it was new year and Nana was taking so long with sending her text and Chad was doing impressions of her, that’s when I really fell in love with Nana I laughed so so hard! Nana is beautiful inside and out, I don’t think she realises how much her wonderful personality touches the peeps that watch. I’ve been waiting for this for so long! Thank you Gabe and thank you Nana for sharing your story! I CANNOT wait for part two!

My grandmother and me had conversations like this all the time when she was alive. She partially raised me, as my mom worked two jobs to make sure we could live a good life. A lot of what na na explained gardens, chickens, hogs , pigs etc is how I was raised. So this is refreshing for me, it reminds me so much of my grandmother. God knows I miss her! I am in tears because everything NaeNa is saying is so true. My grandma is from TN and she was the same way was Grandma Peggy. Although through the years she softened up but, some of those old ways stuck in the way she raised her children. I was raised my grandma and it wasn't until I went to college and I began to tell my grandma I love her and embrace that the new tradition began. She seem so uncomfortable at first but overtime she became comfortable. I still try to talk to her about her upbringing but I think I was to much and she doesn't want to relive it. She is 86 now. She returned to TN and I am in California, but there's not a week or few days that goes by when I don't talk to my grandma.

This certainly helps explain a lot about a lot. And also knowing that our culture is not the only one that was like the way Nana describes her grandmother because I don't have a good relationship with my grandmother in the sense that the hugging and all of this extra stuff so now I constantly hug my daughter and make sure I tell her I love her and sometimes when I catch myself doing one more thing before tending to her I stop what I'm doing right away in put her first let her know that she's number one and that everything else can wait. Cuz all that wood that they chopped and all the errands and work and all that then they did yet serve the purpose but the hugs and the memories will last a lifetime

Slavery did a number on our people. My Grandmother who is from Guyana, South America has so many similarities in her story. The idea of not showing love, saying I Love you or even sharing hugs, something so simple. It really hit me hard when Nana said that. I literally had to teach my parents how to love me, hug me and say I love you because they didn't grow up that way either. Goes to show how these little things have lasting effects generation after generation. Read Willie Lynch to learn more about how the indoctrination of slaves still has lasting effects on its descendants.

We love you so much NahNah. Thank you for this video. My grandma passed about 2 years ago, she was in her 80s from Mississippi and moved to Los Angeles when she had my mom. I see so much of her in you. I learned to cook, sow and garden because of my grandparents. She had the same up bringing as you did, but it was 10 of them in a one room shack house on a farm. She lived with her oldest sister when she moved out until coming to CA. I loved hearing your story on how you became a hairdresser. My grandma became a seamstress and got a job in a sweat shop making wedding dresses for white people and later on would make the usher uniforms and choir robes for church. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. It's amazing to see how far we have come as a people and how far we have to go.

Hi Nana!!! I love you so much for just sharing yourself with us. Nana is from “Hop Town!” I was in Clarksville when I first start watching the channel. I didn’t realize that Chad and Gabrielle lived there then. Any way...I love this channel and I love the content! Be blessed you all because you are all blessed! 🌸🍃🌼🍃🌺🍃

Loved the story on how she combed the corn husk & braided the grass. My grandma was a farmer too & had a garden up until she pasted. Definitely the tomatoes were the best.
Loving the interview & the life lessons. Thanks Nana

Awesomely done ✅ Gabe 🙌🏾🙌🏾I’m so intrigued with the oral history of the elderly. She had the GOOD LIFE in the country ; I’m giving that to my family. I see her countenance light up 💡 when talking of the garden growing. I wish you and Chad would do a surprise raised table bed garden for her in her yard. Growing your own food is such a gift 🎁 and getting our hands in the earth is healthy for our body. Seems like her only hang up now with it is growing in ground and having to bend down. Pinterest some ideas on raised bed gardens and consider giving her back that life. ❤️❤️❤️

This took me back to childhood on my grandparents farm during the summers. My grandmother had a sweet spirit like Nana's and was a quiet woman but when she spoke her words I still hear. My grandparents have been gone for a while but the memories linger always. You are so blessed to have this special time of chatting with your wonderful Nana!! She is wise, kind, fun, beautiful lady and I am grateful you had this time and invited us into hear it. Her words of wisdom, be nice, trust God, tithing, save for your future, she is a jewel!! Praying God blesses increases Nana with every great and perfect gift God has stored up for her! ❤️❤️️💜💞🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

This was so sweet. My grandmother passed away when I was 8 years old. You all me laughing. She's a sweet lady. I'm so glad she learned to hug and tell her family she love them. A special lady.
