In the late 1990's I had this album on cassette tape and at the end of the day I would wait until I was settled in on the bus and would play this song. That base line healed me. It was my "cold drink" after work. I had a very hard time growing up and Bad Religion was therapeutic. I still love this song.

I have loved this song since I was 11 years old and I still get fucking pumped listening to these bands. I couldnt live without them and leftover crack and the misfits and all of my other favorites I wish music was still like this. Deep rooted with meaning

Bad Religion does many songs about things in the world, mainly different religions, sometimes morals, and other things. Their lyrics do not revolve around a single subject which is why a like them.

I knew this song in 2012 and forgot about it until I saw a memory post on facebook I did with the lyrics to the chorus in it.. had to find it again. The number of times that happens to me I'm kind of glad I was a dweeb and used lyrics in my posts then cause its helped me find some nostalgia

I don't think the lyrics are about one thing, but rather that it is based around the theme of abuse.
First verse is clearly about drug abuse. The second verse is clearly about an abusive relationship. The outro is about religion - specifically the sadistic parts of the christian bible.
It's about HIV/AIDS
Clearly this band is against religion!
I've used it as a kink song. Fits that theme on a lot of levels.

As far as I've read the band was founded because their members didn't like the religious TV programmes all around the States. That's the reason why their name is Bad Religion. I don't know their songs to such a large extent but I guess they're quite critical of the religions as they are. Of course I'm not sure though. Maybe the whole song is not about being infected by religions but for me, this song means something like that. So it won't be my band...

It always seemed to me to be about some relations between man and woman, however it's not typical for Bad Religion. Yeah, and the last part doesn't suit to this topic, so maybe it's connected with religion.

It's about abuse, from the abuser's perspective. "Stop me before I do it again," "I love to strike you... you've learned your lesson," plus the entire last part describing the things he wants to do to the other person.
Just to be clear, it's a satire - I can't imagine a world in which Bad Religion would condone abuse.

Listenin' to them since 2002. Lol, in '03 I used to have a wife that was a crazy Navajo drunk. One day we were at work and she got jealous, so she took my Bad Religion cd outta the car, & placed the cd under my front tire when I wasn't looking. During break I went to move my car & cracked in half when I drove over it. It also cracked my Doom Generation sndtrck. I was sooo pissed, I got back in the car and hit the bitch with it right in the knees knocking her on her ass! Well next door to us there was a tree farm for Christmas trees and this guy who looked exactly like Santa saw me hit her with my car and there that Santa dude was with his mouth gaping open . And I was like, " Santa! Don't you dare call the fuckin' cops! Don't you dare fuckin' call the cops. Lol the salon across from us everyone saw me do it too. But back then I got into fights at least once a week, so knowing my rep, everyone was too scared to do anything. She deserved it anyway, 'cuz no one FUCKS with MY MUSIC. Lol ah good times. :-D
