Ahead of their debut release for 4AD (worldwide from June 8), Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti appeared
in session with a number of tracks from the forthcoming Before Today alongside recordings of the likes of 'Flashback' and 'Spires in the Snow' (incarnations of the latter dating back as far as 1999).
Recorded at Studio Plateaux on the Thameside island Platts Eyot, the session showcases the band's rich pop palette; a beguiling mix of glam rock, West Coast funk and Merseybeat harmonies with a newfound high-production sheen - a contrast to the corroded bedroom recordings that have fomented a fervent cult following over the past decade.
The outfit, now consist of reclusive pop surrealist Ariel Pink (vocals) alongside Tim Koh (bass/vocals), Kenny Gilmore (guitar/vocals) and Aaron Sperske (drums/vocals) - with Cole MGN (guitar) guesting in session.
'Menopause Man' also features on the album Before Today, out now.

Still bloody amazing after 9 years of watching this.
It's already 12 and counting!
how does this have so many dislikes? killer performance! ariel pink is so good!
Because they just dont understand
Ariel Pink said “I guess you guys aren’t ready for that. But your kids are going to love it.”
Sad comment.
This is the best version of this song. BEAUTIFUL & GREAT
Haters always gonna hate. This is a dope video.
What the fuck is wrong with his singing? This is brilliant.
At first I thought "I guess no one here listens to ariel pink...?" But then I remembered this is vevo.
so deep. for real. i mean this.
This song is my favorite Ariel song
What song !!!!! Marvelous !!!
real haunted graffiti fans speak out! enough of these awful comments lol
spacecartoon25 I believe its groovy as always from Ariel's band
There used to be at least three other songs from this session on UA-cam.......
So hypnotizing, glorious!
@Armagedn12 I really don't think he takes himself that seriously, i mean he's singing a song called menopause man! I love it how he obviously doesn't give a shit what you think. I like him better than rihanna lol
i feel secondhand embarrassment for you 9 years later
@@deengew another politically driven comment?
Omg! I still love it!!
These real old comments on this are just absolute cancer.
Yeah lol
i guess i need a new favorite band this one has 24 million hits
Amazing
Great all the way around
Beautiful lyrics!
love it too mkuch
fantastique!!!!!
Dla mnie dobra muzyka
I hope they are this good live when dey play in Dallas. X)
can someone tell me where the keyboard player got his sweater?
I like the chorus.
The fucked up part is that I just bought this CD , "Before Today", and the sound quality of this live studio session is better. I am not really disappointed in the CD, I just believe they could have mastered the EQ better. Great song though! Rock on you strange bastards!
Ariel usually records his stuff with low fidelity. I don't even think he spent much time mastering his records prior to before today.
something tells me you're new to ariel pink
Its kind of obvious he isn't going for a hi fidelity sound.
that was never the point, dude.
But then it wouldn't be haunted bro
-195??? You crazy...
The 9’year old comments kill me... Hahaha
❤️🌞
We win BIG! 🏆. ❤️u!
i really like the vocals lol
this is psichodelic or some shit like that ;) cool stuff in the end ;o
And no jokes about the snowman drummer?
Lyrics kinda dark / different but I love this song
I love this... it's like a catchy mix of Paul Leary and Jesus Lizard.
Is Mark Kozelek the menopause man?
picturing CAN-style hypno drums during the jam at the end
He reminds me of the Damned, pretty stellar

Lol it was just 21 dislikes and 21 likes i made 22nd like XD!
Wow, Bruce McCulloch looks great!
...not sure if trolling.
possibly the hurtest name in music history......
i would desribe ariel pinks music as thrift store
Anemone bobble stich.
@PapaHendryx yeah right... like if kurt cobain was a greeaaaaaat singer... you´ve got to be joking me
were they high
OK at the start i was thinking maybe this a new type of grunge but by the end i died this is my ghost coming back to haunt them
......
Menopause Jennifer Maniston🤣✝️
Too much Aaron Sperske in the monitors
Dude i believe that he was a woman. I'm still believing that. omg god
Train to Sweden
ahahahahaha! ! ! that was fun! so when does the actual music start?
when you jump off the chair
over all i would say not bad at all but not quite ready for mainstream yet
Who ya lookin' at, punk?
A gay version of the Doors?
yes.
Savage
i really dont know what to tell about this. am i supossed to talk about this in a good way or not?! no iiideaaaaa!!?!?! :/
The music is brilliant i absolutely love it, i agree though the singer isnt great:l
this song is a perfect example of the current state in our society in terms of gender. "break me, castrate me, make me gay" this line speaks volumes.
still better then Justin biber
haha 18 likes and 18 dislikes xp
haha 90 people are deaf and 90 other people arent XD
for anyone bitching about the dislike bar , you do realise your on vevo right ? , people come here after watching gaga and bieber or whatever the fuck his name is. It's hardly a barometer of critical opinion
So in my opinion, it's the doors clashing with the cure. Something that should not have been...
LOL! Seth Green would play him better in a Garage Band comedy! This is middle class teen angst at it's Deepity Worst!
WHAT IS THIS SIHT!?!
Sponsored by Sup-R-Cutz.
fuck the singer has a hard time singing, even barely moving
cut your hair :?
This dude has a huge head...
:hipsterkitty:
What's wrong with his singing?
no autotune??!
go listen to the radio whiners.
such a cool song to come out as transgender
Its ariel pink. His holder stuff is better.
OK.... I think this song isn't great BUT .. Yes there's a but ...i really like the verses i just highly dislike the choruses .. do this make any sense to any one else ??
No
Aakash Sky this comment was 9 years ago ...
man... the singer is so fucked up... XD
Kurt Cobain's back... and he forgot how to sing!
Kurt cobain as elvis. Tryin too hard
He was dropped from his label because of cancel culture. I can only imagine how the woke left will use his songs against him moving forward. This will probably be used to call him transphobic by the same people that used to love listening to it.
I am pretty sure this song is not pro trans (which is based)
@@Eraserheader because he's trans. tautological origami. u know he's all like "I was trans before it was cool" about tings. totally reactionary. a true punk in that sense? these things are neither good or bad. Art. I hope it keeps making music without needing to be hated but that's def his kink, I guess. song kicks ass either way.
I can't really hate on anyone elses musical expression given my own attempts. But maybe I'm not really as bad as dude.
he sounds like a drunk man singing karaoke.
WTF ! is this !!!! ????
@CeexFilthy Preaching to the choir man... dear lord is he terrible.
.. wow fucking horrible.
indeed you are
Hipster bands suck.
Awful ~!!!!
desparetly needs new vocals
Sounds like the music during the opening credits to some day time TV late, 80's movie. I don't understand why people are trying to bring back this sound. ... and the vocals are strange as well.
Good groove, they have potential but that vocalist needs training or something
your trying to hard... but for real
this was awesome until i heard the vocals
I saw these guys live when the opened for the Flaming Lips. They're pretty darn awful. Couldn't wait for them to get off the stage. The band isn't half bad, but the frontman is a freak show. Thinks he's really got it...
Joseph Poferl L
As a front man should. Hes a genius.
I feel like he thinks he's a lot deeper than he is, as well as not being that great of a singer... Pretty cool groove they've got going on, though.
I can appreciate the artistic value in the music, however, after having lived through the 80's when 4AD had a stellar line up of ground breaking artists. This is just not the same, what ever genre this is attaching itself to.
Creatively, I can see a direction yet it misses the mark for me. I think there is better, yet to come from these artists. There is a gloomy aspect to their music that reminds me of The Doors.
Who cares brother, who cares
Umm I went from a clip with Alison Krauss to this.. Like listening first to angels sing and then end up in a sad karaokeplace with some drunken guy slaughtering a song.. Bad singing kills good music. Serioulsy, stick to impersonating Curt Cobain and let people that can sing make life better for the rest of us.
