I have a personal attachment with cows. Once one of our cows was lost. Probably she was taken by mischievous peoples, I don't know. But somehow she returned after a year. My mother did not recognize her, so she shooed her away. But she returned back many times, then I watched her eyes and immediately recognized her. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.

I grew up about 30 minutes from Isha in McMinnville, TN, USA. We raised cows and I had a very close relationship with one in particular, named Daisy. She was completely blond and often, when I would pass her on my walks, I would spend some time petting her and getting grass outside her reach for her to eat. While it was different than having a relationship with a human, it was just as valuable to me.

From an American stand point I never sat to consider the similar emotions between livestock like horses and cows. Horses are connected to their people even at a distance. They miss their people greatly. It shows with every visit. Also, we (as a general culture some people here do) but in general we/I/did not consider how the cows milk can keep a human alive and how inter connected we both are. … 🤯 It all makes sense. I knew to respect the fact that certain Indians found cows sacred but I was never explained why until now. Beautiful.

80 years ago I was born into a rural family that was indentured under the British Raj. I grew up among cows. My grandfather would bathe his cows on mornings, before milking any. As he milked the cow he would tell me ‘Beti, Cow is our mother. She gives us milk to make us strong. From the milk we make ghee for our pujas, we make kheer and Dahi too. We use the ‘gobar’ to clean our houses and we worship it in puja. We use the dry dung as firewood and whatever is left we use it in our gardens as fertiliser. How can we eat our Mother?’ That lesson has never left me

Romanticizing animal exploitation. It's possible the cow that you mentioned might have lived the best possible life for any domesticated cow, but you are breeding them and creating for
The very purpose of exploiting them. How many people would still treat their cows as part of their families and breed them FOR GENERATIONS if cows are of no economic value for us. If you treat them as a family member, but no one treats a member of their family by breeding them yearly, extracting milk from them

This clarity is what current generation is don't have. And it is not superstition why we worship cows. There is a science behind everything what we do this culture because it came out of awareness. Thank you sadhguru for all the wisdom you are sharing, in simple words thay even a child can easily understand

      My opinion...
If someone starts to read a book then they have to go page by page. Same way he is going.
None can cover whole book within few mins...
Cow is like chapter 1 then others do come.

Those who have spent time with native cows know how deep the bond can be. I cannot even believe a human can eat a helpless creature that bleeds, cries in pain and tries to escape. Most things about human beings are so unbelievable and heartless. People have become so unbelievably crude and certain religions make barbarians out of humans.

Thank you, Sadhguru for educating and reminding us about the future disasters we may face. I always wondered what makes soil to be called "soil" and not some sand or powdered rock or dust, I understand now. This inspires me to get into agriculture and enrich the soil with the organic content to produce nutritious enough food.
