Robin Trower's career is more than four decades long. Already in the early sixties he was considered one of the most virtuoso guitarists of the then flourishing London club scene. He achieved worldwide success a little later with Procol Harum. But it was only after Trower left Procol Harum in 1972 and performed under his own name that his bluesy-psychedelic playing became an unmistakable trademark. He was sometimes dubbed "the white Hendrix" - which he didn't care about from the heart. I loved James' vocals but also really liked Davey's as well: a huge disappointment for me is that Robin seems to ignore the catalogue of songs that Davey did in the late 80's and early 90's which have some of my favourites and that they didn't tour the UK during that time afaik. It's still so easy to remember, even now, how the unbelievably righteous sounds went round and round at a very loud volume and seriously blew everybody's minds! I've always thought that the original studio version of the "Bridge of Sighs" track should've been theme music for the 1st Conan movie. I mean, really...so many of those long-time, 3 or 4 hits bands with most still living members now having ridiculous looking overly long hair, all tatted up, wearing bi-focals, with skinny chicken legs, no ass, and a big fat belly! Sad... The desperation of some of those dudes to still feel relevant or to maybe just get a paycheck from having lived a life without acquiring some kind of marketable job skills along the way or making bad financial decisions over the years, etc., etc., etc., it's really kinda sad, in a way!
BillyJoe JimBob I remember those days...was in another world listening to Bridge Of Sighs... have seen Trower live several times...all in smaller settings...love his soulful playing... and as in Robins case it never leaves you...
BJJB - I still remember the first time I heard Bridge of Sighs on my parents Marantz stereo in 1974. I was in 10th grade in New Jersey, and I went out and got the album that day. I've seen him many times since then, in places as big as Shea Stadium and as small as the Roxy. One of the greats, and unfairly compared to Hendrix.
@BillyJoe JimBob, Tommy Bolin, Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton and so many more. I was in a similar situation when a friend played this album. The 70's were a great time. S.F. Ca. Bay Area Winterland was a great place for all the latest groups. I was lucky to have seen most. I really liked Ten Years After. Joe Walsh, Eric Clapton then. Seen Jeff Beck a year ago flawless performance.
JD! I saw RT back in the late 70's w/ James. The venue was very small. I remember the seats were padded and we literally melted into the music. Especially in those long slow riff's like Spellbound and Bridge of Sighs. Riff's that simply take you away. Kids today have no idea what real music is.

Gimme old school every time. Pay attention kiddies , this is the way it done. I saw Robin in 73 or 74 in Knoxville, TN. Doing Orange Sunshine. I thank God I made it this far. 🙏
Saw him in the 70's or 80's or both in Germany. No Sunshine...just good hash brownies! Which I think was a better choice. I liked Yes or Todd Rundgren with Sunshine. I like this...drug and music pairing! Throw out the wine!
Introduce my son-in-law to Robin Trower he never heard of him and I almost forgot how great he was. I "think" I saw him. Saw so much talent in late 60s 70s. Too bad I took it for granted.

WHAT a career this man has had...ive loved him since Procol Harum, in 68- a little before my time but i caught up quickly, and up to THIS remarkable performance and beyond. James Dewar was ALWAYS a BIG part of the appeal to me... among THE most soulful white singers in the history of rock music- right up there with Paul Rodgers, Steve Marriott, Greg Allman. ..and there are some others im forgetting i know... Greg Ridley was right up there too...AND he played bass excellent as well. and its HARD to play bass and sing. I've done it. Quite the compliment to Davey here that HE sounds EXACTLY like Mr.Dewar.. but its a compliment to James that Robin had to find an EXCELLENT bassist to take up the slack...James did TWO jobs and KILLED it for so many years. both men here are doing a FINE job.,I LOVE it...even the songs i hadnt heard before. I lost track after 'Long Misty Days' and 'In City Dreams' ' 'Please Tell Me' is as good as ANY of the old classics... I hope Robin is STILL playing somewhere....he would be close to 80 now i suppose. It is a great testament to HIS strength and integrity to continue in the world of rock music for 40 or 50 years....as SO many of his contemporaries have passed along the journey. Caught up in the traps of stardom....Robin somehow managed to avoid.... Good for HIM and God Bless-
Ed, Robin is 75, he's still playing, I saw him a couple of years ago in St. Paul MN, and he was on top of his game. He was hitting chords that I've never heard before. My buddy and I would look at each other and laugh in pleasant disbelief. I'm 65 and thought I've heard it all. No....but now I have. 🎸🎸🎸

Whew.....just hits me where I live. Listening intently, Robin never seems to hit a wrong note or miss the beat, ever. The fucker is what?, over 70? Insane...and Davey could sing the fucking phone book and it would make you fall in love with him. Props to the backup boys, of course too. Thank you for posting this...it's wonderful.
This was recorded 2005 when Davey was about 60 and on Robin's 60th birthday. I saw them maybe 10 weeks later at a heavingly packed small venue in London, finished the set with Daydream: I SWEAR I had an orgasm with a surge of endorphins at the end of the tune, SEN SA TIONAL in every sense of the word.
@@winnerkatt Friend, please would you be so kind as to pass on to Davey my very best wishes and thanks for the countess hours of pleasure his singing of the tunes whilst in Robin's sphere has brought me. I have always been disappointed that Robin doesn't seem to have shown due recognition of the brilliant talent of Davey in that a vast majority of the songs he was compelled to perform live were from a previous era. I met some of Davey's relatives at a gig here in England, can't quite recall where, and said as much to them. With thanks in advance, Tony👍👍👍

We listened to Procal Harum late 60's. Then "Bridge of Sighs" came out. I saw this incredible musician at Winterland in 1975 with the original Journey playing before him. It was such magic, being in the same room with this vibration, overwhelming. I saw Robin at this little club in a small shopping area at the bottom of Redwood Rd. in Oakland, "the Hill". It was like a dream- is that really Robin up there (!) Music is so powerful, it makes life a blessing. Robin Trower 🕉 the master.

Just years later i was thrilled to see the show in Bonn (years waiting if and when he would to come Europe). Happilly since 2005 he did come regurly to Holland. Greetings from Utrecht, Stan.
I loved Trower since my teen years. the 70's and long after those days, trusty Trower followers would always talk now and then about him, and the main word on the street was.." why don't more people know about Robin Trower man?, he is extraordinary." / Opportunities in Portland Or, I never missed one of his shows back in the 90's particularly when I was living there, and always a rare experience to see him play along with the somewhat small Venues he did, made it all the better. And he ain't lost a 'lick'

MET WITH ROBIN TROWER AND WORKED WITH HIM FOR TWO YEARS DURING THE BRIDGE OF SIGHS TOURS IN THE US... MOST LISTENED-TO BRIDGE OF SIGHS THE SONG FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.. AND BEFORE THEY KNEW WHO IT WAS PLAYING.. THEY WOULD SWEAR IT WAS A HENDRIX CREATION., ROBIN WAS AND IS FAIRLY UNIQUE IN SO MANY WAYS..
Can't get any better ❤
Robin still gets that smile on his face in appreciation for his music & his fans. He's just a beautiful man & talented musician.
99 club seattle blew me away! ears rang for a month after that show un forgettable.
Wow! That guitar tone!!
Davey and Robin. Reminds me of the old days. Missing you JD.!
JD! I saw RT back in the late 70's w/ James. The venue was very small. I remember the seats were padded and we literally melted into the music. Especially in those long slow riff's like Spellbound and Bridge of Sighs. Riff's that simply take you away. Kids today have no idea what real music is.
@@jackiestahl7827 Heavenly!

Trower fan since the Bridge of Sighs days, hello to all from Vancouver BC!
Always loved Robin Trower from Pottstown, PA💜
This is the first time I’ve watched Robin play guitar 🎸 😱😘
There is nothing else like it
He's my favorite❤
I think a S.R.V. / Robin Trower 🎸 concert would have been AWESOME 😎
Davey is the perfect compliment.Robin's playing sharp as ever.
In 2022, this deserves more views. This is June and it's it's very 🔥 hot in Chicago. I saw Robin Trower back in the 70's and 80's about 3 or 4 times. No guitar player matches him, every concert was great! Now it's 2022 and I still like listening 🎶 to his music.
Robin just gets better as the years go by
The UK's answer to Hendrix, the sound, the feeling, the soul of it all, f***ing ourstanding!
Das ist ein ganz grosser leìder kennt man ihn kaum LEIDER. Für mich unter die Top fünf.
Got such feeling, the guitar talks ,best last great emotion master..
I love this so damn much
Way underrated! Clean!!!!
One of my all-time favorites
Gimme old school every time.
Pay attention kiddies , this is the way it done. I saw Robin in 73 or 74 in Knoxville, TN. Doing Orange Sunshine.
I thank God I made it this far. 🙏
that Orange was pretty good back then huh ? I'm 66 now and ate enough of it in those years to float a battleship :-)) Cheers from Alabama
@@porkbelly0713 It's amazing we are still kickin. ✌
Saw him in the 70's or 80's or both in Germany. No Sunshine...just good hash brownies! Which I think was a better choice. I liked Yes or Todd Rundgren with Sunshine. I like this...drug and music pairing! Throw out the wine!
Lol saw him on four way window pain in the 70’s 61 and still listen to him a couple times a month. Don’t own anything but albums!
That means you heard James Dewar.....he was the heart of the band!
Always did love thisguys style an his sound. Thumbs up on this before I even watched it.
He deserves to be in the Rock Hall period. Sign the petition on Facebook....!!!!!
Introduce my son-in-law to Robin Trower he never heard of him and I almost forgot how great he was. I "think" I saw him. Saw so much talent in late 60s 70s. Too bad I took it for granted.
I saw Davey in the early '80s when he was with Ronnie Montose and Gamma. He sang his ass off! Awesome voice.
He is the best, very underestimated 👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
When Robin hangs a single note in the air it's so emotional it still brings on the tears. Daydream...
Trower is a legend and deserves hall of fame status.
LOL - not a chance , the pin heads who vote have no idea who he is . Great rockers like this are overlooked for rappers .
@@terryp9484 you are right music Is in the dumps. There are only a handful of artist now who even know what real talent is.

Fantastic performance. None better than Trower and he was on it this night.
Loved them back then and would pay good money to see them again.

Robin brings you in another world, his sound is magic......a real strat king
@@thorstenriedel3152 Moin!
Ja, volle Zustimmung. Außer, was Malmsteen angeht, sorry.

I saw Robin at the Aragon ballroom in Chicago back in 75 76 and 77 those were great shows back when bridge of sighs first came out we couldn't get enough of robin..back then ....and in 90 and 91 I saw him at the Park West in Chicago probably the best place to see Robin of all the big arena style concert Halls every seat was a good seat at the Park West.... those were great shows back then and he's still great today!!!
I have hit every show within 200 miles. Best guitarist ever!
The legend guitarrist Robin trower one more underrated blues man of the world and the vocalist davey pattison amazing god bless you congratulations from spain
That's not blues
Robin's been doing this for years, how come he doesn't get more recognition? It's a crying shame.
WHAT a career this man has had...ive loved him since Procol Harum, in 68-
a little before my time but i caught up quickly,
and up to THIS remarkable performance and beyond.
James Dewar was ALWAYS a BIG part of the appeal to me...
among THE most soulful white singers in the history of rock music-
right up there with Paul Rodgers, Steve Marriott, Greg Allman.
..and there are some others im forgetting i know...
I lost track after 'Long Misty Days' and 'In City Dreams'
'
'Please Tell Me' is as good as ANY of the old classics...
Good for HIM and God Bless-
Well said
Ya you forgot forgerty
@@MrTeronzio i dont really like him, lol
Ed, Robin is 75, he's still playing, I saw him a couple of years ago in St. Paul MN, and he was on top of his game. He was hitting chords that I've never heard before. My buddy and I would look at each other and laugh in pleasant disbelief. I'm 65 and thought I've heard it all. No....but now I have. 🎸🎸🎸
@@saginawdan awesome...i saw them a couple times in the seventies and early 80s...and id definitely go see him again if i get the chance...he is playing some different stuff here on two rolling stoned, at the end on the slow part...ive listened to this one ten times over the last couple months...its great
Whew.....just hits me where I live.
Davey Pattinson is one cool, classy, humble, guy too. I talk to him some times. Always great talking to him.
I'm 67 and remember him from my youth, still the baddest guitar 🎸 player ever. Many have tried that Strat but none mastered it. Blessings to him and may he stay strong 🙏❤❤❤

Just as a note, he tunes down a whole step and uses heavy gauge stings with a fairly high action. I'd like to know exactly what gage strings, but it's really just a curiosity.

Spending the afternoon with Robin. ❤ Great music I haven't heard in years! One thing these cell phones are good for..
Robin Trower has always been top shelf, even with Procal Harem 🦨💪
Robin Trower. One of the masters of the Strat.
I just had a flashback to the 80s. This is exactly what I saw at the Old Waldorf San Francisco. We were up close to Robin.Saw Robin at the Oakland Coliseum DOG. The guitar notes reverberating at the Coliseum. Awesome. Unforgettable experience. 😊❤ I was about to by Robin's DVD but found this here. Thanks for sharing.
Robin Trower one of the Greats!!
Probably second to MR JIMI SRV was no slacker i am shutting up now different styles so MANY greats a?
In college I would roll a joint smoke it and listen to his awesome guitar playing Aw those were some good times
It was like a dream- is that really Robin up there (!)
Music is so powerful, it makes life a blessing.
Robin Trower 🕉 the master.
Oh, you're so lucky you got to be at the Winterland 1975 concert!!! To watch him playng Daydream and The Fool And Me, would have been a dream come true. Well, the whole show, actually. But especially those two.
Davey sounds so good with robin!
Robin Trower and Davey Pattison one hell of a combination here. One word to describe this trio phenomenal.
Indeed , it's a phenomenal four piece "trio"!
You mean, quatuor ?
Check out the collaboration between Sir Pattison and Michael Shenker. Their version of too rolling stone kicked ass to the maxx from start to end.
the real Master of Fender guitars... Hero!!!
Undoubtedly, nothing but a future legend , that needs to be recognized, for His talent, guitar playing, very simple!
The best of the best.
I was there (from Holland) with my brother and a friend. That night Robin was Robin's birthday, 60 years YOUNG. I saw him first live as a support act for The Stones in 1976 in Holland, The Hague.
Now this, this is good music!!!! Whew...
Excellent....and he's grown into his face!😊
Trower and Gilmour, masters of tone and technique.
Luv seeing and hearing and feeling a true Master at work !
I've been listening to TROWER for 40+ years... with the passing of LESLIE WEST (23 December 2020)... that leaves next in line ROBIN TROWER as GREATEST GUITAR PLAYER ALIVE.
He's crazy good! What a performance here eh? WOW
I don’t think he looked down at his fretboard even once. Total mastery, solid feel.

DURING THE BRIDGE OF SIGHS TOUR IN THE UNITED STATES HE WOULD ALWAYS PLAY INDOORS TOO SMALL INTIMATE CROWDS WITH A FEW EXCEPTIONS. AND ALWAYS MADE THE OCCASION A GRAND PARTY OF EXPERIENCED MIND IN BENDERS..
