Ethan, over the 6 burner stove, that is called a "pot filler." This is so the cook does not have to fill the pot at the sink and carry it to the stove. The pot can be placed on the stove and then fill it with water. This is helpful if it is a large stock pot.

This is actually very common, unfortunately. Borrowing money to fund life & business ventures, so liquid isn’t enough to protect them from a recession. Queen of Versailles is a great example. 2008 screwed a lot of people, even the ultra wealthy. Even if a majority of $ is in stocks, if push comes to shove & they need to cash out, the taxes can be a huge hit & not leave enough to accommodate the lifestyle they were used to. There’s so many reasons why this could happen, but ultimately its poor financial planning & not actually living within means.

Loved those skylights. Loved the herringbone wood floor. That kitchen was amazing - I would love to have space for a wine fridge. The master suite area was wild. The master bathroom was gorgeous. And I also really liked the black and mirror bathroom! The one room with all the mirrors and the TV, was probably some kind of dance practice room. There was also a ballet barre behind the TV.

So sad to see this much work and beauty go abandoned. Maybe 1% of the world can afford this home, so hopefully someone can get in before it gets loitered. Absolutely beautiful home! Such a shame it's been allowed to deteriorate the way it has, particularly downstairs where the indoor pool is. I bought a 9500 square foot Spanish-style home back in the mid 1990's in Tennessee. It also had a 2000 sq.ft "Florida Room" that consisted of a 40,000gallon indoor pool, hot tub, wet bar, & billiard area. Indoor pools are a real pain to maintain & always a chore to prevent them from causing water damage elsewhere if not constantly monitored & maintained! Surprised this place wasn't worse sitting empty with the water in the pool for a year & half!?!? Still, back in the day when I could've afforded the upkeep on such a large home, I wouldve loved this place!! Of course my large home was nowhere near $15million since it was in Tennessee, but this place you explored is like a dream home in my view. Thank you for the walk-through!! The faucet on the top of stove is a pot filler also known as a pasta arm or kettle faucet. It can be used to fill pots with water directly over the stove. House is amazing. How people leave houses like that to just sit there and waste it away. Unbelievable. Dog addiction is great for the tour. Love it!

The thing above the stove is called a "pot filler." It's hooked up to hot water so you can fill your pots with hot water when cooking items such as pasta, potatoes soups etc.

Great video! Just a few things to mention that might be helpful. The marble in the study looks like porphyry. Gorgeous. And the added ormolu is a nice touch. The item above the stove is a kettle faucet for filling pots with water so you don't have to carry them over from the sink. Versailles is pronounced like "ver-sigh." I'm shocked that the pool wasn't drained. With a full pool and no proper maintenance or air circulation, the mold will take over.

Think the rework way view at pool for watching kids or someone swimming while socializing and having a drink. Indoor pools that don’t get kept vented and cleaned always do the mold thing. Love the walk through! I will definitely have to have an elevator when I move into a place like this! Thanks for sharing.

Unless evil lurks within these walls, there should be no reason to destroy this house. Restoring and making it ones own should be the only way this houses future should be.

That long narrow room with the mirrored walls that freaked you out is a ballet studio. The bar mounted on the wall gives it away. The most unusual feature of this whole house are the amount of recessed can lights in the living areas that are mounted close to the walls. Done to highlight art work, fireplaces, wall and window coverings. Would have been quite dramatic at night.

Very beautiful house. This one definitely has great features, like the arch windows, crown molding, marble fireplaces and wood floors. Nice staircase too. You can tell that Quality materials were used building this place. That pool is going become a worse problem if not taken care of soon. Would love to have that fabulous Cream color sofa downstairs. What furniture was there looked high end.

Love this house. Beautiful details and I loved all the fireplaces. Disappointed about the pool mold though. I hope someone does something amazing with it soon. The mirrors off the pool were probably to allow the parents to watch the kids when they were swimming. I don’t find anything creepy in the house except for the mechanical room, ha ha. If you were wealthy this would totally be worth a clean up and refresh since they left everything really neat and tidy. The master is a statement in itself, and might be the only room I would reconfigure, but more in line with what seems like the storage is all over the place. Would be cool to know who designed this home. The flooring is amazing as well. So, we did not get much of a view of the land. The gardener in me hopes it is as beautiful with possibilities as well. 2 large dogs with a family and lots of family visiting to make memories.

I just love your videos Ethan!!!, keep up the awesome work ! I never comment on videos but really wanted to express my appreciation for what you do. I get your passion, respect, love for all these homes that are so sadly being torn down to build OTT tacky homes now that become outdated in a few years. The older homes, esp mid century ones which I adore, stood the test of time. Cool design, architecture. I grew up in a stunning area in GTA with mid century homes on gorgeous streets/ lots, but sadly all being torn down. I always wonder if you have done any where I grew up, but hard to know cause you rarely show the outside. How do you find these places ? How do you gain access ?? Thank you for documenting, recording and sharing all these treasures. I would be proud to have a son like you, you really are an old soul, as other followers have said !

The mirrored room down the bottom had a ballet bar maybe for the dancing girls of the family. The 2way mirror was probably to keep an eye on the kids without them knowing. Parents do things like that in huge houses. Not so creepy 😐 yes beautiful home I would fix mold problem I wouldn't change much and I'd live there happily Vickie Annakin Australia, Sydney n.s.w

This was an incredible house. I couldn’t even imagine growing up in something like this as a child. All those bathrooms. At one point we were 6 people in a 3 bed/1 bath house of maybe 1200 sf. Even now I don’t think I could ever become comfortable living in something like that although I’d like to give it a try, as long as someone else did the housework. Too much for me these days. It’s a shame about the pool area. Some of those pools are not meant to be empty for very long. The water actually keeps the sides from collapsing. They must have left the heater on in the pool to keep it from freezing and the humidity from that caused the mold. I suspect there is someone monitoring the pool chemicals or it wouldn’t be in that good of condition. They should have had exhaust fans going since the power is on. I think the shower within a shower was a steam shower. I stayed in a hotel once that had that in a huge shower. Great find and sad too.

Loved this house. The architecture and decorating was beautiful. The 2 way mirror was creepy, can't think of a reason to have that in a house. I think the room downstairs with with all the mirrors and tv was an exercise room, there was a ballet bar behind the tv. Add a kitchen to the master suite and it would be a nice apartment. The dog added a lot to the video, you could tell he was having as much fun as you! Great explore!
