🇮🇶 More Iraq Videos: • American in Iraq! 🇮🇶 I...
To create this Iraq series, I teamed up with my guides at Bil Weekend ( / bilweekend | bilweekend.com/) and my good friend and fellow travel filmmaker Tasos Karantakos ( / agreeksolo .
My time in the Iraqi Marshlands (also known as the Mesopotamian Marshlands) of southern Iraq continued in the city of Chibaish. This city is the gateway to the marshes, which are a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was truly the start of a beautiful Food Travel and Middle Eastern Food Experience.
CHIBAISH MARKET: Here, we saw butchers selling meat, fish, and poultry, as well as fresh fruits, vegetables, and pickles. I also bought three turbans for 26,000 dinar and tried some tasty mouth fresheners!
HOMEMADE LUNCH: Our guide’s family grilled some fish and duck for us, along with some red rice, basil, pickles, and crispy khubz tannour bread. Everything was phenomenal and flavorful, from the crispy duck to the tender masgouf. We finished with some Arabian coffee and Iraqi chai!

I like this episode very much! I'm glad we have folks like you David, that go out & show the lives of the everyday people! It's completely different from what we've been spoon fed in the past by media in the West! This is the other side of the political mumbojumbo - they are everyday people like everyone else! ❤️

Iraqi cuisine is one of the oldest in the world. Some tablets found in ancient Iraqi monuments that date back to the Babylonians show recipes for preparing food in temples during religious holydays. However, modern Iraqi food is mostly inspired by PErsian and Turkish cuisine, as the Ottoman empire had a big influence over that region. Happy food market tour! Cheers, Domenico.

Modern/medieval Iraqi cuisine Influenced mostly by arabic levantine artistic and court cuisine (as well as folk food insipred by that in turn) with its Innovations in later invented recipes, techniques and scienfitic/medical approach for health, and some have more ancient roots in local ancient civilization, and a few Influences from persian/indian and turkish, but still most of the food based on the unique regional iraqi cuisine. Also those iraqi foods and desserts are original regional iraqi (mainly central and southern) and not strongly Influenced by persian and turkish or other cuisine.

Ottoman empire didn't Influenced iraqi cuisine strongly. But there some Influences especially the fondness of grilled skewers.

Good morning David. Fantastic. Surf and turf baby. I love great grandpa. Love all the food. Healthy, fresh and appetizing. The heat and the hot sun contribute to the sweetness of the fruits in the region. The meat and fish market, well what can I say except that I can just imagine the smell: should have worn masks. I didn't like the fact that there were flies on the animal head though. They should have covered it up. It would have been 122 degrees Fahrenheit: HOT!!! That eating area is so beautifully built compared to it's immediate surroundings. Now I understand why I don't see women in the videos and I am glad to see how much respect you showed towards them by not filming them. I must say that Tasos seems to be enjoying his trip too. So another good one David. I keep repeating myself that the people of Iraq are really and truly a warm, hospitable and kind people. So let's see what's coming up in your next video. 🐟🐠🦆🇹🇹🇨🇦 Here's wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas holiday and a Happy New Year. Wishing you a very productive, successful and prosperous 2023 🙏😇🕊️🎄🥳🎉❤️🇹🇹🇨🇦

I think you didn't clean it you made it worse, Your hands has sweat and bacteria and dust you just smeared the fruit with it.
It's better to use your cleanest spot of your clothes to clean it
