i love Jim Fox's reaction to the Martinez goal..........he did not seem like a professional announcer just then...and love the fact that he reacted more like a fan. great job guys for calling such an epic game, series, and playoffs. it was such a shame that you guys were not heard nationally (Bob and Jim).
I am actually crying right now. I am soo happy that bob and Jim not only got to see them win not once but twice!! I have chills all over my body! Love everything about this organization!! Go Kings Go!!
I feel very lucky to have heard Bob Miller, Chick Hearn, and the incomparable Vin Scully broadcast the Kings, Lakers, and Dodger games since the first day I ever started paying attention to each team.
Tell ya what, this is gonna sound weird but I'm a longtime Kings fan (30 years-started June 1984)...not so weird honestly, but when it's from someone who lives on the East Coast as I do in PA but grew up in New Jersey...was a lot harder to follow them then because there was no Internet yet because Al Gore hadn't invented it yet and I had to wait a day usually to find out the scores or watch ESPN back then... I remember guys like Rogie, Daryl, Marcel, Dave Taylor, Butch Goring (whom I also know from the Islanders as well), and Luc Robitaille, Wayne Gretzky, Bob Miller and now Rob Blake as well. People looked at me weird back then because I was wearing Kings gear in Jersey during the summers too..nuts I know, but I just loved them a ton then and still do today 30 years later...wearing my 2012 Stanley Cup Champions hat and my Kings third jersey from the early 2000s..gonna get it customized for my favorite player, Anze Kopitar! Drew Doughty is an absolute BEAST, plain and simple! This loud, proud East Coast Kings fan simply says this...GO KINGS GO! GO KINGS GO! GO KINGS GO! Was listening online to Nick and Daryl while watching the game on NBC muted...those memories will truly last a lifetime, boys...and as a longtime fan of the Crown, all I can say to you all is....THANK YOU...THANK YOU....THANK YOU!! :-) PS- Yeah, I know I follow the Flyers too and love them just the same but just not as much for my Kings too! Stunk for the longest time, endured it as a fan, always had faith and thankfully, said faith has been rewarded twice in the last 3 years with the toughest trophy to win in all of sports! THE STANLEY CUP! :-)
Not many fans have waited longer than Bob & Nick... I remember when they were "the new guys" calling the play by play after Roy Story left (who replaced "Jiggs" McDonald when he left to broadcast for the Islanders) ~ They were calling the play when Rogie Vachon played for the Kings... when Marcel Dionne, Dave Taylor & Charlie Simmer (Triple Crown Line) blazed the ice... when Taylor, Wayne Gretzky, Bernie Nicholls, Luc Robitaille, and Rob Blake were rookies ~ These guys have endured ALL the heartbreak of the many, many years the Kings have struggled on the ice & to gain respect in the NHL.... NOW, they share in the Pride & Joy, along with players & fans, of being TWO-TIME STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!!!
Wow. Just being able to see their reactions against 2012, night and day. It puts great context into what they said and their reactions. Also it took me a while after hearing both calls, they did say the same thing.
As much as i recognize how GREAT Bob Miller is, i love Nick Nickson's style and voice even more. Maybe because i also grew up listening to the Kings on the radio because i didn't have cable TV.
Bob Miller:"Kings Win The Cup! Martinez Getting The Rebound! The Kings Have Won The Stanley Cup!" Nick Nickson:"Alec Martinez! Has Won The Stanley Cup For The Los Angeles Kings!"
Thanks Kings for winning a kid who snuck into his parents room to watch the purple and gold on cable (1980-ON TV) two Stanley Cups. Now I’m happy!!!! #Royalty #GKG #WeGotTheCup
McNabb, Quick, and Martinez. All three were L.A. Kings back in that 2014 season. Now, it is 2023, and the Vegas Golden Knights have won the cup, with those three guys!! Wishing those three guys success going forward, except vs. my Kings. i live in Vegas, but i love my Kings! Hoping my Kings get back to championship hockey where they can hoist another Stanley Cup someday soon!!!! 🏒❤👍
Where was Bob Miller's Cup clinching call broadcast to? Nick Nickson had the local call, someone else certainly described the moment on national radio.
Taft Gardner it wasn’t...it was recorded for archive purpose for video like this, and they had to get permission from the league for that...just as in 2012. A lot different from 1993, their first trip to the Final, where the tv team was allowed to broadcast past Round 1.
James, when Mike Breen was part of The Imus In The Morning crew, he would occasionally play audio clips of radio analysts who would step on the calls of their play-by-play partners. Some analysts can't help themselves. I tell future announcers not do that since their audible exuberance mars an otherwise clean call.
Bob Miller - my deepest respect from Slovenia. True masterclass behind the mic.
Thanky you for making special every broadcast!
Go Kings, go!
"Royalty reigns again in the National Hockey League." Does it get any more classic than that?
I like Nick’s “After 45 years the Kings can wear their crown!!!!” When they got the 2012 cup. #GKG

These have to be the most emotional spine tingling videos about the kings so well done! bob and Jim are the best...GKG

Actually Jiggs left to initially broadcast for the Atlanta Flames. He then went to the Islanders.

I got teary eyed watching this

Nick Nickson:"Save Rebound.."
Bob Miller:"SCORE!"
Nick Nickson:"SCORE!"
Bob Miller:"Kings Win The Cup! Martinez Getting The Rebound! The Kings Have Won The Stanley Cup!"
Nick Nickson:"Alec Martinez! Has Won The Stanley Cup For The Los Angeles Kings!"
Daryl Evans:(Silently)
Jim Fox:"YES! YES!... CUP!"
I miss Bob Miller! 😢❤️
Everytime bob announces that i get goosebumps
So far this is the only one that made me tear
Chills 😁 GO KINGS GO!!!!!!!!

Great minds think alike! Good Stuff from Bob and Nick!🤣
I miss Bob Miller's calls.
Don't worry, boys. You both got it right. Great calls by a couple of great broadcasters.

they say that Jim Fox is still bouncing to this day...

I dare you not to cry. I dare you..
#GetBackOurCup
Anyone know the name of the beat at the beginning of the video?
#RoyaltyReignsAgain
Uh, Why do I see a buy or rent thing for a Ryan Reynolds film called "The Voices"? Just saying. Stupid algorithm.
sevciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii MISTRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Did not appreciate Jim Fox yelling over Bob Miller's call.
