- Is the outside of the old Rolex clasp on the 5 digit Submariners and other sports watches better than the new ones? I think the camoflauge one is pretty gnarly. Yeah. I typed gnarly.

Great video, Christopher. As I’m sure you know, the 5 digit GMT’s had an even slicker clasp than the 5 digit Subs. Just like my Explorer 114270....what’s not to like?!
I own the Rolex Kermit (2008) and the bat girl. I think the camouflage clasp does not pick up scratches compared to the new version. The new version seems to pick up small scratches however well you try to avoid them. The only hassle with the camouflage clasp if you need to change the size it can be hassle having to use a pin to adjust the strap. With the batgirl you have the 5mm extension. Much more practical no pin needed. And I no that the newer versions of the sub have the glide clasp giving even more adjustments over the 5mm and the camouflage version. But the quality is still there with the camouflage clasp. The new version a bit more shiny.
Well after 5 years of collecting Hamilton and Steinhart, today my wife surprised me with my grail for our 21st anniversary. A Seamaster Aqua-terra chronometer with all the bells & whistles, the caliber 9605, in blue no less. Just yesterday I was completely content and satisfied with my modest collection of ETA tool watches, THEN THIS. It feels great but overwhelming, I mean where do I go from here?.😅 😆 😁 😂 😄 🤣 Cheers from Miami

Love the batman and I love my batgirl. The only thing I don't like about the hidden clasp is the holes on the side. Otherwise I think it's a cool look... But I also like the polish on the batman!! Either are a winner... Cheers Chris! Hope you are doing well!
I've always really liked the so called camouflage clasp, I've only had the more recent style clasps. I like them both... but will say that camo always made me want a sub so bad & loved the design, today...even though I have never owned one... other models have grown on me. Nothing bad to say about it in my opinion.

on the 5 digits the clasp is thicker on the subs than the gmts
I have a Sea Dweller with the tin can clasp and I always felt it was cheap - when you closely inspect the flip lock you can see the granular work hardening of the steel at the folds. Not great - but at $3,300 new at the time of purchase in 2001 it was fine. Not acceptable today.
Stealth camo in mgs4 looks the best imo :) no seriously I really like the 5 digit ones, but ….. the non removable links on the 6 o’clock side is a big minus.

Sorry, dude, but the 5-digit clasp just looks like a cheap bent-tin clasp made for cheaper watches. Back on the day I really wanted to like the submariner but found that clasp just looked so cheap compared with my mid-90s Omega Seamaster with a milled-out solid bracelet and clasp. Omega were over a decade ahead. I love my 6-digit Rolii now though.
Agree the 5 digit clasp LOOKS great but FEELS like a cheap piece if garbage found on a $50 watch.....and yes I own a 5 digit sub and a yachtmaster 40 with the new clasp. New clasp for the win by a mile.
Was good enough for mountainers, like ed with the expII. But sure, for the office guy it isnt
I got one negative. I have a 5 digit 2 tone and the clasp is the old version but not 2 tone so it looks a little off with the rest of the watch being gold/silver. Watch was my dads. He got it in '93 and it came that way when he purchased it.
