I took out my 29 year old Grady White Adventure today. Went out Clearwater Pass Florida and headed up the coast about 20 miles to Anclote key and back. The boat is powered with a 1994 200hp Saltwater Series Yamaha. The rig runs like new and practically looks new.
I take my 1989 Grady 24ft from bellair boat ramp near Clearwater to anclote just about every weekend. Right now I’m hitting the tower area for scallops.
1984 Grady White for sure We had a 1973 Grady White 21' Chesapeake Cuddy Cabin from 1973 to 2016. The hull lasts many decades no issues. Tow with a 2005 Chevy Tahoe LS Vortec 5.3v8 with trailer towing package and 4x4
Of all of those boats the Grady is best buy, by a long shot. I used to do I/O work on the side and once i learned how to maintain them, they are really cheap and easy boats to work on. I wouldn't want to get into an I/O if I didn't have that experience though. I would be more concerned about rotten wood than the engine, but if you had a good hull and suck 2k into making sure the engine was running right and had new cooling components, you would have a very solid 30+ mile offshore boat
What’s crazy is, after I posted this video a good friend of mine called me and told me he sold this exact same boat, same engine, and same year last year for 20 K
@@jiggingjerks Good Friend of mine listed his beat up 21 Carolina skiff with a blown yamaha 4 stroke last summer for 8k. he got HUNDREDS of calls from all over the east coast. I think he ended up getting 6k for it. But that would have been a 1k or 2k boat in 2019. Used boat market is nuts the last few years. But I think its going back to normal soon.
Saw couple aluminum boats for sale. One east of Laurel post office, in front of nursery. Another in Jamesport, east of traffic light. Both on north side of main rd.
The Grady white looks like it has a omc cobra outdrive nightmare to get parts for if you could find them another one is Volvo outdrives are another very expensive out drive to own you cannot beat good old Mercruiser
We paid $700 for our 85’ 24 offshore pro but without a motor, a rotted floor and stringers! Lol. We’ve spent a little more than $6300 to rebuild her. If that floor and transom are solid and the motor runs that’s a great deal! Nice hardtop too!
Thank you for sharing your video friend. I am a big enthusiast of boats and fishing. I really enjoy seeing how these boats remain solid despite the years. I am a big fan of Wrady and Boston Whalers👍✌️
Nice content during the crappy weekend it was. You chartering may 6th weekend. I'm launching my boat Saturday on the north shore stony brook for first fishing trip of the year. Have a great season !!
Didn’t get notified on this video. I would have had that Grady surveyed and if the stringers and out drive were okay, I would have bought it. Probably gone by now. Thanks for doing the videos.
Buy that grady! Even with a shot transom 7k is a good buy. Ideally add a bracket and replace the transom and stringers and have a solid fishing machine with more cockpit space than most 27’s
Great Audio. I had a Venture trailer for my last boat and just like the one in your video those plastic fenders were just a pain and always getting cracked/broken. Just like a boat trailers need TLC as well, just seemed like the Venture needed a lot more TLC. I also had the Solas 4 blade prop and it was the best prop I ever had. jmo As for a I/O in salt water. I would pass on that.
Used to have a Venture too but luckily had aluminum fenders. Trailer held up fine in the three years I had it. The outdrive tilts all the way out of the water, though, no?
There’s a 94 Grady Offshore 24 with a rough looking 225 Yamaha at Harbes farm--saw it yesterday. They want $19,999 for it and it was in way rougher condition than the one you found for $6300.
I actually saw it driving to Riverhead but didn’t see a for sale sign on it. This was may be a week ago, so possibly added since then. Thanks for letting me know!
The Sea Ray is a good boat in the wrong location. Move it inland, especially the Lakes, and it would at least go for double the price IF it’s running, especially with the trailer. The stock seats are gone which is a negative and it definitely needs some TLC but nothing that can’t be fixed with a little work. The stern drive is probably an Alpha which are cheap - used ones go for about a grand - but they’re pretty easy to work on and generally indestructible in freshwater environments. On the other hand, the Grady would scare me because it doesn’t look like a Mercruiser so it’s probably either a Volvo or worse, an OMC, both of which are much harder to find parts and knowledgeable people to work on. Both are probably great ways to get started and will probably give you as much fun as the $60k boat.
Thank you for teaching me about aging a boat with the serial number. My flagship is a 12' Sea Nymph. It´s powered by a 250lb horse´s ass outboard. I wondered the age of the boat. It´s one year younger than the engine.
I would look at the Grady White even with the I O ,I am not a fan of inboard outboard, but you can't go wrong with a Grady I bought a 24 foot GW Explower last year has a 225 Yamaha on it , I love it. I live in Washington state so I crab ,shrimp , salmon and halibut fish( salt water) I really enjoy this boat.
Yes, popular among the commercial crowd. My buddy owns a Pair Marine which is a revival of the Sea Ox name until Sea Fox sued and they were forced to change their name.
The $6k Grady seems like a good deal that will get you in the water relatively quickly. Also, your new mic is 1000% improvement, I personally would not have gone with Rode but be that as it may, your audio is vastly improved. Good Luck this year Captain!!
@@jiggingjerks I bought my set (2xT / 1xR) in 2021 and was on a pretty tight budget at the time. I went with a company called Lensgo who, at the time, offered the best connection range, a charging case, and onboard recording to a micro sd card so if the receiver, or the wireless connection failed, I still had the audio and could just sync it up in post. I think if I were in the market today and had a little extra money I would go with the DJI set. That being said, Rode is the standard when it comes to streaming or vlogging equipment and sometimes I just feel like you pay a premium just because their name is printed on the item, not because the item deserves it. I'm not suggesting that there's anything wrong with their equipment, quite the contrary, but I just feel like many times there's a better value for your money out there. I own some Rode stuff because sometimes there's no denying that theirs is just the best option, but with wireless lav mics there were just too many quality choices available. Just my 2 cents...
@@throughmyeyes... gotcha and thanks the detailed response. My previous wireless set up was similar to what you described and was not impressed with the audio. I guess it’s always a crapshoot when you go with an off name brand
It's full of rotten wood, stringers and transom likely gone and probably the aluminum tank is corroded out at that stage. Would cost as much to fix as it would to buy a new one.
There are literally hundreds of boat dealers down there. If you are new to Boating, and judging by your question, I have to presume you might be, I would Google boat dealer reviews near you and visit one with good scores.

My first boat was an IO, never again. Audio is great, could do with fewer commercials, love these road trips. Thanks.
Sound is good 👍
That GW would sell for at least twice that in the Charleston market! Boats here are expensive!
The market is crazy here in New York too. I am guessing this person may not know what they have.
Audio sounds great now!
Awesome video! Love the road side finds!! 👍
These grady 24 offshore io's are great candidates for a bracket with twins restoration
Agree!!!
Audio is a great improvement! Can't wait to see more content with the new mic 👍

Finally!!!!!!

Nice looking boat, as long as the motor is in good shape.
Great Video, Fellow Long Islander (Seacliff) !
Seacliff is beautiful! My cousin and her family live there and it’s so nice
I've been doing the drive from Philly to Cape May for work this week and saw a few good vessels along the ride

Good observation. I am using two cameras and the camera attached to my windshield is solely going off the GoPro mic

Anything with good honest to good stringers are double priced.
