Is that the £30 argon regulator on hobbyweld argon bottle

Two things not mentioned. The pressure should generally be set to 50 PSI for the flow meter to be accurate. That will need your flow gauge (actually a pressure gauge) to be replaced for a gauge with pressure markings. Also the outlet of the regulator will have a very small orifice, this is what lets the flow gauge show flow and not pressure. At 50 PSI, you might not be able to access the full flow capability of the regulator without replacing the outlet connector with one with a larger orifice.

Great trick with the mark on the ball bearing. Also now I know my flow meter is in lpm not cfh, wondered why I was going through so much gas.

Will gas flow rate change as cylinder pressure goes down?

Confused about the fittings, are small Argon bottles 3/8 bsp?,, what about the medium and larger bottles?

Most bottles ( Other than disposable) should be 3/8 fitting

Depends on what pressure the flow meter was calibrated at, usually 50 PSI. It's sometimes written on the flowmeter.

you need the regulator open to what pressure before the flow meter?

Hi Paul, with a flow meter in place it isn't overly important what flow is set on the regulator as the flow meter is doing all the control, that said you ideally wouldn't want the regulator set wide open as this will create large gas purges on first trigger press. I normally have the regulator set anywhere from 10-20 Litres per minute. I hope this helps - Ben

Hello Ben, where do read the flowrate: At the top of the ball, center or bottom?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I take the reading from the bottom of the ball, Cheers - Ben
