    What a sweet, strong woman! For those asking the question about how she was attacked so much, it's actually not uncommon for girls who have been abused and/or raped to be re-victimized. Victims, especially when they are untreated, are very vulnerable to being re-victimized. That's one reason why it's so important to get good treatment. So please don't judge. Just have compassion and be as supportive as you can be. Thank you Cherie for being so brave and sharing your story. You deserve to be happy!

    SO modest and SO sweet and down-to-earth. Cherie is proof positive that a lot of times the people who suffer the most often come out on the other side as kind, honest, decent, real, and beautiful human beings. I love this woman's spirit, from this one interview alone. She is simply, WONDERFUL.

    I thought it was gross the way the interviewer kept objectifying her by calling her "smokin' hot" and all that. I cringed every time he did it. She handled it with grace but OMG, please, hasn't she had to deal with that crap enough??? Geez!!! This woman has exhibited Hurculean strength and you can only comment on her looks??? What about her STRENGTH? What about her RESILIENCE? What about her CHARACTER? He says nothing about any of those other amazing aspects of her as a human being. Typical disgusting self-absorbed guy.

Being kidnapped and brutalized by a crazed fan, being exploited and used and fed drugs by people who were supposed to be looking out for her. And she managed to survive it all. Most punk singers never sung before they were in a band. Cherie turned out to be a good singer for the band, she fell into the sexualized side of things and Jackie and Lita did too. Joan and Sandy didn't, ultimately it was their band and they didn't like that side of things. I think they would have been better or at least they would have lasted a lot more without the others. The runaways turned out to be a great band and if other people want to sexualize them that's OK, to me that says more about those people than about the actual band. That guy there is sexist as the press back then.

    What a warm, modest, and totally together person Cherie Currie is. I remember my teenage cohorts, Vicki Cannito, Chris Belusko, Ron Babinski and I parking on Heartbeat Road in our hometown, passing around a bottle of Boone's Farm grape wine, and listening with sheer delight to The Runaways' "Trash Can Murders" on the cassette player in the car. What a great memory! I had a chance to interview Cherie for Femme Fatales magazine at a Chiller Theatre autograph show in 2001, but my mother was very ill at the time (and would pass away soon afterward), and I was in such a poor frame of mind, I had to decline the opportunity. I wish I had done it, though, because I can tell that Cherie is a class act. In this radio interview, I right away noticed her warm demeanor and her kind eyes (that's the first thing I notice about a person). What a sweetheart Cherie seems to be! I think she's just great.

    I like the runaways movie, but in my opinion, had they really made the movie just like her book it would have been 10 times better. Her book is so anazing. The movie is supposed to be an adaptation, but its not very close at all.

    • @Spill_Eviction
      @Spill_Eviction 10 років тому +3

      The reason the movie wasn't like Cherie's book is because a lot of the stories in her book are false and or extremely inaccurate. Joan Jett got involved with the project because she wanted the movie to be about the truth. Cherie getting kidnapped and raped has nothing to do with The Runaways so there is no reason to put it in the movie. Cherie was on a lot of dugs back then so her memory and perception of events is very distorted.

    • @Spill_Eviction
      @Spill_Eviction 10 років тому

      Johnny Cade Jakie Fox tried to hault production of the movie even though there was no character representing her in the movie. Joan started a lawsuit in order to settle Jakie's threats to production. That is what I have read from interviews with Joan's manager, Kenny (who helped turn Cherie's book into a movie). If you want proof on Cherie's inaccuracy just watch Edgeplay. In the documentary Cherie claims all of the girls witnessed Kim Fowley perform sexual acts with a disoriented woman in a hotel room. However, in her book she states that it was only Sandy and her who witnessed it (Of course Sandy is dead so she can't dispute it). Also, Cherie claims she arrived early to the photo shoot the day she left the band. Yet BOTH Lita AND Vickie claim that she arrived late. I don't trust her memory especially when she brags about how intense her drug use was.

    • @cheriecurrie2893
      @cheriecurrie2893 10 років тому +12

      Austin Adams Barry Levine could have put that to rest. He was the photographer that day. He would vouch that I was there early helping him set up shots. Vicki chose to not talk to him. Lita and I have discussed this. I was there before any other band mate. Period. Sandy West before she died wrote her account of what happened that day in the hotel room. I have it. It was to protect the facts. Another man, Rick Cole was also there. I have his signed statement. It's people like you Austin, who know nothing try so desperately to be noticed. The facts are something you care less about... but I wish you well.

    Cherie, I just finished reading your (updated) book and had to see the woman for herself on UA-cam. You are an astounding human being, woman, role model, heroine. Absolutely everyone can relate to at least one aspect of who you are. During a time of great uncertainty and crisis for myself, you just showed me the majesty of human will and perseverence. xoxo

    Cherie is the closest I've seen to a woman made from granite. From what this lady (as a YOUNG GIRL....) experienced in life....I have no words that would adequately describe my respect and admiration for this lady. I sincerely hope that you are still as strong and still doing ok. The 70's were the years of the devil and his hounds....

    Wow. This really is worth watching if you were ever curious about her, the Runaways etc. She is very thoughtful, engaging, and has amazing stories to tell. I was playing clubs as a drummer in L.A. several years after the Runaways formed and am about her age. Had no idea what these girls went through only a few years prior. Great interview! Cherie is very interesting, and she felt comfortable enough with "Rover" to share quite a bit about her life with the Runaways. Very cool.

He is SO sick and SO immature!!

    • @johnnyplunkett8532
      @johnnyplunkett8532 3 роки тому +1

      So another site has her at 1 to 5 million. That seems more reasonable. I cant see how she could be worth more than Joan Jett unless chainsaw art is crazy expensive based on her name. She acts and divorced a significant but not super rich movie star. Joan toured endlessly and had huge record sales in the 1980s. Lita had a long hiatus and family drama. It would be ironic if Cherie came out on top of the money. The guy who does chainsaw art at the county fair is no millionaire.
