Please keep making Gulfstream videos! I love every second of it. As a tech who works on the G650, there is a sense of pride working on these planes. They are amazing machines.

My first type rating was on the G-II/B. I flew the G-II, II/SP, and II/B and III from 2000-2006. I never flew the tip tank version. Now 20 years later, I'm typed on the CL604/605, DA50 (Falcon 900B), DA7X, and Lear 60/60XR. Currently flying the Falcon 7X.

In 1987 I was a Reno/Tahoe limousine driver. Another limo and mine would park on the tarmac at Reno Jet Center, as one of Allen Nueharth's FIVE G-2's would taxi up to us. Mr Nueharth controlled Gannet Publications. He started the Newspaper USA Today with his own money. Up to his four story mansion high above Lake Tahoe.

Flyer Killer. Another factoid about the NASA G -II is that they used cascade thrust reversers instead of the target type. They could be deployed in flight to simulate the sink characteristics of the Space Shuttle.

The deep stall (super stall) problem of these aircraft was due to design foolishness. It cost many test pilots lives. Two rear engine high T tailed aircraft that didn't have this problem were the VC-10 and IL-62 due to their high sweep and anti stall devices on the wing tips. The idea of the High T tail originates in WW2 with Hans Mullhops Focke-Wulf Ta 183 Jet fighter. This aircraft was designed as a 'tailless' aircraft with elevon control but the high T-tail was to be used for trimming purposes only. One reason for this position was to avoid shock wave impingement. By having enough sweep and by having anti stall measures at the tips (to overcome span wise flow and the premature tip stall it causes) the swept back wings provide sufficient forward pitch to overcome a super stall. The IL-62 and VC10 both used saw tooth leading edges about 70% wing position to generate a new flow or they had slats. Furthermore these aircraft also tend to stall their engines due to airflow blocking them so can not power out of a stall, they need engine auto light to restart the engines. The High T-tail was chosen to allow the rear engine layout and keep the body close to the ground for the purposes of avoiding stairways. It has many disadvantages but in the case of aircraft that need to be low to the ground it can work with anti stall software controls. Aircraft like the B27, BAC-111, F28, DC9 all had super stall issues because of a lack of sweep. They had stick pushers, a sort of MCAS.

Same solution: engine on top of the wing to give prop clearance, a pod underneath to stow the undercarriage so that it could be kept short. Fuel in the wings to either side.
