These engines really weren't intended to be cold started that often. The idea was they did a full weeks work and only got shutdown for inspections and minor repairs so never cooled off completely.
@@tobiandobito3736 No that's not how it works the air compressor is a genny under the body next to the full tank, the loco starts then the air on the loco is built up by the genny compressor, what I am saying is that somebody had opened the air cock while it was not running. Being an open day, somebody had a play with it, I am guessing.

I got to drive this at Bodmin back in 2016 , remember the cold start , it filled the whole yard with smoke 😂😂💨

How come the brake pipe was open on the front? I see a guy close it then climb on board.
The air compressor is probably run by the engine. Air pressure buildup would have made it harder to start.
