- cleaning barn with Patz barn cleaner on a Wisconsin organic dairy farm. The barn is 120 foot long, uses 300 foot of chain and has 18 inch gutters. The system is from about two years ago.
Very well done. Proud of the Patz Barncleaner.
Thanks for watching Harold! Any relation to Paul Patz?
farmcards yes, my father.
We are honored that a member of the Patz family checked out the channel! That's pretty cool! Thank you.
Nice system...Patz does it right in my opinion. Keep the vids coming
Thanks! I'm glad you like the videos!
Same as our silage drag system except the paddles are different. I bet that's fun to work on when the electric motor needs swapping out. Our drag system has a 3HP Baldor [farm duty] motor which probably weights close to 150lb. and not much fun to carry by hand especially out of a manger with tons of paddle to trip over 😉
Very interesting video! Thanks again for the videos.
I'll try to keep making more. I got some time next week and I'll hopefully do something like a February farm update or something.
Thanks again for watching and commenting!
We have an old badger chain that we used in an elevated trough to feed corn silage. Worked great!
before we had the pats we had a badger
These things were a God send. Noore shoveling !!,,😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
All you had to do was push a button
Definitely!
I bet you just loved it when that was installed!
absolutely! made a big difference!
Patz barn equipment was the absolute best
We put it in 13 years ago. One of our best investments.
Did the grates on the gutter custom made or did you make them yourself
Hi Chase. Thanks for checking out the channel and commenting on the video! The grates were bought used but the seller said they were standard 18 inch gutter grates. Hope that helps!
Please don't forget to subscribe!
yes,thanks
Yeah have heard the same thing liquid fertilizer and you can tell it winter the manure if thick in the spring and summer runny as all get out lol.
What kind of corner wheels not a patz never seen them like that
Im a patz dealer out of Minnesota just was curious never seen corner wheels like that
Barn cleaner is in great shape keep it well greased will run forever them!
The corner wheels are Jamesway. They are made for hook and eye chain, and they were used because the old barn cleaner was a Badger. The new corner wheels could be installed without breaking any concrete for the corner wheels.
Is this from the sandbeddingbarn, Great vid, tanks from sweden
Thanks Erik! It's great to hear that you are watching this video half way across the world!
This is from the sand bedding. Some sawdust is still being used on the walk way and the corner box stalls for the calves, but all the bedding that the milk cows are laying on is sand now.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Must be like a grinder with sand on that chain. Wears 5 times faster than sawdust
So far it has held up pretty well. We will see.
I was told, "yeah it looks slow... here is a shovel, find out how fast it actually is."
That piece of equipment probably moves more tons than any other piece of equipment on the farm. It’s amazing really.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Looks like beef stew!
I would not recommend it.
Hopefully they used stainless steel manure is very corrosive.
Farming doesn't pay enough to afford stainless steel 😉
On top of that, most stainless is softer than hardened steel so your not really gaining much in the way of wear. Hay & corn silage are also corrosive but the paddles hold up pretty well over time and not being stainless makes them easier to weld without destroying your lungs with Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] which is what stainless steel welding exposes you too 😉
