Amazing interview and very insightful.
Chris liebing never ceases to amaze me
Thanks PB for this and other tuts. You guys and Chris are amazing.
This explanation on his DJ live setup, and the last question/answer, i've been waiting forever!!!
thanks for this video.AWSOME !! A very good interview !!
Sweet video, very interesting set up and approach. Love those macbook covers too
This is actually the first intervieuw i completely watched till the very end. I have been a dj for 15 years with vinyl, and i had to move it aside for 6 years now (workrelated sadly).
I am just picking it up again and boy did things change so fast... Buth i am glad i watched this. Creating your own sound on the go with bits and pieces... I really think i am going to give this my attention. I love his mindset and his creativity. such an awesome guy. Love to sit down with him i a coffeebar and listen to his chatter, although i don't understand 50% off what he is saying...
thx for the vid and your inspiration!
Excellent MasterClass , he is a real musician , he is the king of techno music 😍🔥
Midi controllers, mixers and software are just tools to enhance your 🎶performance.
Having a solid foundation in technique and knowing your music will not only define your style, it should always take precedence above all else👍
Thank you guys for videos like this!
Brilliant! I love his setup!!!!
Legend! One of the best to do it
Ahahaahhaha this guy!
I remember first time I saw him performing live @ Black Box in Sofia in 2005.
Always ready to drawn you with his giant smile and kindness :)
I miss you my Friend Chris, Hugs from Brazil
Down to earth; calm and balanced. Seems like a great guy.
absolute genius!!!!! too much love!
this guy was one who got me into techno. i used to play his whitelabels bootlegs etc in early to mid 2000s.
His philosophy to djing sounds very zen based. Nice!!!
Beautiful.
Great advice in here. Time for me to buy some K2s and try this set up out.

Chris KING Liebing
Excellent ☆
5 years have passed on since this episode, but he's still the best DJ in the world!
awesome artist and last week hi did a Q&A on Antilope too and that was more about music production.
Though I don't have the personality to quite appreciate the purity of his latest developments, I find Chris Liebing more interesting as a performer than probably the next four or five runner-ups. Most of these Techno DJs have a LOT of gear, but they don't take advantage of it. Chris breaks that stereotype, he's the poster child for taking advantage of traktor's potential outside of short, battle-style routines. Few have as much respect for the bottom lines of the artform as he does.
You forgot Ritchie Hawtin, mate
Hello anyone knows the mapping of controllers that K2 uses xone Chris Liebing?
He have so big soul, I just fell it!
All i learned from this video is that music today is all about Reverb and Delay effects
peace
My favourite dj in the world!
really nice!
it is universal!!!!! hahahaha
At 16:46 you can see everybody shaking their bodies enjoying the groove haha
and I have to confess, I was doing the same thing watching the video...
Chris Liebing Rocks!!!!
Techno rulz!
i just wanted to say the same thing and then i saw this comment... I was shaking my ass too behind my desk...
great course :)
How does he connect the second laptop (with NI Machine) to the return channels?
He got an Audiointerface for the first Laptop. And the second? Is there a connect to the first laptop or does he have a second Audiointerface?
This is gold
Does he route his traktor outputs via ableton, so he can use ableton effects and record in ableton? + if anyone does this, how does it affect the CPU and latency of the audio interface?
what app is he using that has the blue cube on it, that syncs de ableton and the traktor? any help?
i really would like to know, what you have set up latency in Traktor?
Great guy,!
Very friendly 😊 artist 👌🥰
He even go people sitting down to dance @ 16:48
Of course ...
Seems like his gear is:
- Allen & Heath Xone 92 Mixer
- Native Instruments Maschine Mk3
- (2) Allen & Heath One K2s
Soundcard
- RME Fireface UC USB Audio Interface
Software
- Traktor Scratch Pro
- Ableton
21:39 - Chris Liebing refers to Cal Poly: " It's a constant Learning By Doing."
Does anyone know how he routes his UC(X) with 4 stereo channels into the Xone 92? Since the UC(X) only has 6 analog stereo outs (not counting the headphone out, which isn't used in this video)? Maybe 2 decks in mono, since most systems are? Or is some other card used?
+Roadhouse It's probably linked to the second UCX via ADAT, 3 decks from UCX(1), 1 deck from UCX(2) and 2 returns (Maschine and effects) from UCX(2).
Quiero esta entrevista EN ESPAÑOL !!!!!!!!!
perfect
Can anyone explain to me how Chris is triggering a software reverb with the send/return on the xone92? Im totally lost on how he's done it.
lou2bozzy sends the sound into ableton using the send on the 92 and back through the return on the 92. Ableton is being used as an external effects unit. You can set up which effects you like. Best to have a soundcard with minimal latency though. Also you need a soundcard with multiple in/outs for this set up.
CLR on Pointblank, better and better!
Great interview. I've been struggling for a long time now to use my XONE 43 send &returns through ableton's effects, but I get loads of latency. It's just impracticable. Any suggestions on how to fix that except for changing my sound card :D ?
Change the soundcard...
Get some actual decks and forget about effects?
How I would like to know what this man knows. He is an inventor and the rest follow him.
Dj Mau Mau Rocks!
JAJAJAJAJAA COMO VAN LAS COSAS,VERY GOOD MUY BIEN ANIMO CON ALEGRIAS...
7:50 for tech runthrough
Looking at his "comments" and how he tags tracks. Anyone know what the "UD1, UD4,UF1" is for???
Anthony Jimenez I do ;)
it is just the name of the folders that I put the music in... a number letter combination, so it makes it easy for me to search for them in traktor..
Chris Liebing thank you sir ;)
23:24 "The Jesus Pose" , i lol'd
Whats that for a mini fader knob thing? Anyone the manufacturer?
faderfox
How make Key in tracklist colorful for me is very interesting :)
Electric Fish You have to sort the browser by the Key and it will add color to the key. If you sort by anything else it will not color. Hope that helps!
Thanks :)
Richie Hawtin Is another dj with a similar style in playing live.
How u can sync 2 computer, one with traktor "in time-code" and the other one "using maschine" with ableton or maschine 2.0?
+Frank Fra These two MacBooks are wired via LAN and one of them (the Traktor one I guess) is sending a MIDI clock to the other. This feature is already integrated to every Mac and is called Audio MIDI Setup
😉😉💪🏻💪🏻
"Crikey! I spotted a rare Albino Black guy 17:26
Honest.
Not sure if you can blame crowd on a bad gig...
22:59 did someone just fart lol
Chris always says in interviews he is lazy .. lol .. he is absolutly not hahaha
Hi. This is an amaaaazing interview and demo from Chris. He's my techno idol. :)
This might sound as a silly question... but... I wonder how Chris carries all those equipments. Does he use any special kind of bag? Is it custom made?
I ask this because I carry a lot of equipment as him (maschine, x1, stands, computer, soundcard, cables, headphones, etc) but can't find a good bag for it all. :)
Anyone?
Luiz Zen UDG do great bags for producers / DJs on the road! www.udggear.com/by-product-type
Point Blank Music School Thanks, but none of the bags (trolleys) from UDG carries this amount of gear. I have tried all of them already. :/ They seem to be made by vinyl users or those who carry CDs or just a small setup with computer.
The only bigger ones are this: www.udggear.com/udg-ultimate-slingbag-trolley-set-deluxe-black but then it would not be possible to carry everything inside the airplanes. So.... My question still remains :)
Luiz Zen Mono also makes some nice bags for on the road DJ's/Producers!

+Luiz Zen (Cheap Konduktor) Rimowa Pilot
There's two types of DJs. There's DJs who do hearts with their fingers and there's Djs who don't.
A disease.
MUCHO CACHARRITO pero a mi me suena todo igual
