Can’t thank you both enough for your method and trainings. I’m 69 years old and picked up the sport when I was 66. Du dance, less tension and follow through has been the key to my actually improving versus private lessons, and a dozen other on line sources which only frustrated me and hurt my body. My back owes you both, and for the first time, my back feels like it did prior to starting my golf obsession. Thanks again!

Also great to know it’s another back saved with a tension free swing. Good luck on your continued progress. All the best.
Excellent job Phillip and Shannon on "grip pressure" and how to attain "effortless power" through the hands, wrists and swinging the clubhead!" As an 85 year old golfer who has been playing this game for over 68 years, I am fascinated by this subject matter! One thing that I have found as I age, is that power sounds a lot better in attaining if it is effortless. Looking forward to good things to happen in 2024. Merry Christmas to you both!

Great video. i have always had trouble with my grip since i broke my lead elbow 20 years ago. I am now concentrating on as loose a grip as possible, which has helped with my strike. My concern now is i feel like the club is turning in the swing. Any advice would be appreciated....
We are really pleased to learn that this is helping you to improve your strikes. The hold should be as light as possible that allows you to have full control of the club. You do not want it to be turning or sliding around in your hands during your swing. Hope this helps.
Is it turning during the swing or at impact on mishits? If the latter that is normal and don’t worry your brain will work out in due course where the centre is. If the former you may need a little work on your grip or possibly your body movements are not connected well enough to the swing of the club. Somewhere within those possibilities I think you’ll find your answer. Good luck!
Hi John, as Peter says, Séan and I really enjoyed putting these videos together and we are going to film some more in the coming weeks, so watch out for more. We will also be introducing some of the other Easiest Swing coaches and ambassadors to our channel and hope you like watching these too.
They are ABSOLUTELY correct on this... just go out and see for yourself...try it with a tight grip and arms.... then the other way... its amazing how much better the light grip and NO tension swing is...
Thanks Pulldpin, this is often a 'HUGE' breakthrough for golfers to discover for themselves. Once reconnected with your own natural ability it's hard to go back.
I am a huge fan of your teaching. I followed all of Brian's videos, even bought his book, and continue to look forward to future videos. In trying to lighten my " hold " on my club, I sense myself " regripping " or increasing pressure in some parts of my swing. Any tips on how to keep a constant pressure throughout the swing?
Fantastic, thank you very much James! Don't worry that you can't cure this increase of pressure in your swing straight away. The fact that you are "aware" of this, already means your well on your way to solving it. Awareness is the best cure!
Yes indeed, we are planning a Florida trip in November keep an eye on our website or subscribe to our newsletter for details as soon as we have them. We are also planning a trip to the links courses here on the Kent Coast next spring/summer if you fancy coming across the pond?
Philip and Sean, I start with a 2-3 tension, but seem to lose it at the top of my swing and increase the tension on the downswing. Any ideas on how I can keep my starting numbers of 2-3 and keep them throughout the swing? I feel like I " regrip " at the top.
Brian would often say that just having this kind of awareness is already a great start. You don't want to force anything, but being consciously aware, your subconscious can begin to take over this task. Also worth working on lazier golf swings with less effort - 50% effort swings will help to reduce the increase in tension on the forward swing. Hope this helps.
Hi Guys, hope you are doing well. You demonstrated the grip pressure, but do you have a clip where you demonstrate how to set the hands on the grip? Thank you much, Dan

Hi. One, what is the setting on your swing caddy? Second is it about a not very tight grip or can we have a tight grip but keep the strain level a 2 on 10? Thank you.
Hi Mohanjit. 1. We tend to have the Swing Caddy set on the low end of irons (approx 100yds). 2. This is about having a light grip, which subsequently removes tension in the hands increasing feel.
Hi Mohanjit, If I understand your question properly, you want to know the setting I get with my swing, bearing in mind that all golfers are different and this doesn't necessarily mean you should aim for the same setting. But, my own setting, if I swing like I do with a Driver, is around the 97mph mark. Whilst I could probably get it up to the max setting I don't like to swing this fast as I know I lose control. In fact if I reduce my club speed and bring it down to around 78mph that feels much more "within myself" and I can improve my rhythm, balance and control. However, regardless of the speed I normally hold the club with about a 2 out of 10 pressure. Likewise my wrists are even lower, something like 0 or 1. It is a really bizarre thing that the more you bring those numbers down the more control you have. This is a feature we like to call letting go (of control) to gain control! Once you bring those numbers down you will find a smoothness to your swing and an increase in feel and an ease to the whole action. And bizarrely, an increase in power. Have fun with it! One other consideration, the Swing Caddy has distances marked on it and I would ignore those, I know Brian asked them to remove these as they are really irrelevant and for example I regularly drive the ball between 270 and 300 yards but the Swing Caddy would have you believe that at my speed I am hitting it 190 yards so this is a long way out. When you use your Swing Caddy it should help you to deliver more clubhead speed with ease but not strain, if you are straining to get to the highest settings you will not do yourself or your golf any good!
@@philipsparks8351 Thank you very much for an elaborate and detailed explanation. Even I am from a school which believes in “letting go”. Though we believe in a firmer ‘hold’. I got my swing caddy a few years back and I am able to drive the ball consistently between 235 and 250 yards. However whilst warming up with the swing caddy, anything beyond 58 mph feels strained. How can I improve on this. My 7 iron is 140 yards. Will try the 2 on 10 hold as well. No harm trying. 🙂
@@mjs0039 As I say Mohanjit, the readings on the Swing Caddy are not accurate and frankly I think it would be better to remove them altogether, which we have mentioned to the manufacturer more than once. If you are hitting 235-250 off the tee and 140 with a seven iron you are creating a decent amount of clubhead speed and whilst it is useful to find out how to produce more clubhead speed which you will naturally do with practice it is more important to achieve a regular and repeatable easy rhythm. If you send me your email address I can send you a document which details best ways to use and practice with your Swing Caddy. Let me know how you get on with the softer hold on the Club remember to reduce tension in your wrists too as one without the other doesn't work too well.
I have obviously been holding the club far too tight, this will help, so again thank you, BTW I have a swing trainer purchased a good few years ago from Brian & it is such a useful tool 👍
It clicks due to speed creating centripetal force. You can set it to click at a range of different speeds from 25-110 mph. It can be interesting if say your maximum speed is 70mph to learn how to get to 80 mph and what you have to change. For most people it is a recognition that they are putting in powerless effort and the soon learn to get effortless power.
what ever you're comfortable with. long drive contestants hold it very tight. on tour, they're all over the map, but I read that the average tour player has a grip of 7 +/-. They all hold it snug in the last 3 fingers of their left hand.
I can testify from personal experience that there can be deadly power in a golf club after standing to close to my brother as a child. My forehead got in the way of his follow through and I woke up in hospital. According to the doctor I was fortunate that it was the thickest part of my skull otherwise I might not have woken up at all. So remember keep your distance on the on tee and on the range , something I think golf instructors should remind people of more often.
That’s a very good point and I have seen several such injuries during my career. Also worth remembering the ball itself can be lethal and I know of two deaths from being struck by balls. I’ll see if I can weave the topic into a future video - thanks for the thought.
This could be as simple as your intention has changed once a ball is placed in front of you. Is your intention to swing smooth, powerful, flowing etc or has it changed to - I need to 'hit' the ball? Keep the original intention and allow the ball to simply get in the way.
