That’s terrible…. College is not for everyone- in fact Senator Jill Carter said most Baltimore high school graduates won’t go to college…. But the need for tradesmen is real.. Race to the bottom….
As a tradesman myself I can tell you this issue will not correct itself until it hits critical mass. People in the professional space do not know how to take the skilled trades seriously until something goes wrong like what happened in Texas during that winter storm. You also can't make youth/student learn. That will burn any program out.
Meanwhile: People who actively take the initiative and apply to apprenticeship programs on their own lose out to state sponsored applicants. Social equity in this state goes to everyone but the affected.
Baltimore City Public Schools, this year, received $1.7 billion from taxpayers, its largest budget ever. Despite the additional money, City Schools is still the lowest performing district in the state in terms of test scores and graduation rates.
Baltimore City Schools Dr. Sonja Santelises, "CEO" total compensation hits $479,000 she also collected more than $55,000 in “Deferred Compensation” towards retirement, which is in addition to her state pension. Plus, she gets a $9,600 car allowance.
Unless there are governent funds made avaialable, how can bureaucratic grifters get a cut. A "free" program supported by the trades cuts actually provides skills to potential workers and helps give kids guidance.....bureaucrats within education can never allow such efficiency, "progress," and achievement.
I thoughts that Wes Moore cared about At Risk Youth... Also wants more people to work and have state ran childcenters have our kids for 8 hours 5 days a week... All taxpayer funded...
Carver is a trade school, so this is confusing. We need more Black kids in the building trades. Tired of going pass construction sites seeing just Southern border citizens.
This is a travesty. Our young black men and women need these trades and as you said you go by any construction site and all you see is the immigrant class that has been allowed to flood this country with the help of the Biden Harris administration.
@@billybarnett2846 THATS all you can come up with instead of doing research and to answer your question NO not in republican ran cities PULL JUST ONE REPUBLICAN RAN CITIES SCHOOL REPORTS and we Republicans Will shut up. Good luck looking because most republicans PAY FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLING
And RepubliKKKans don't due better. The money for education gets removed to go into the military industrial complex. This has been happening since Ronald Reagan

And America has the nerve to wonder why.

The real program is to keep the kids and people failing to show that the system (administrators) need more funding.
The game is rigged.
