    The Chesterfield County Sheriff promised to do everything he could to end the prosecution of Robinson’s son, including using his connections inside the S.C. Attorney General’s Office to make Squirrel’s charges go away. The sheriff told us he was simply asking to have Squirrel’s case reinvestigated, despite the recording telling a different story. What?! The police have a job that they are supposed to do to investigate fairly. Their job is not to pick a suspect and then try everything they can legally try to put that person in prison. If investigation was done wrong do you want the sheriff to just continue the railroad down the tracks because somebody previously started in that direction?b

    As a resident of Chesterfield County I can tell you we can not find a reputable Sheriff for the county. Looking back over the years you will see story after story with the different Sheriffs doing bad things. They also last month opened an investigation on 3 deputies in the Sheriff's office. I am not a person that looks down on law enforcement. It is a tough job. We have some bad people elected and being investigated here in Chesterfield y'all.

    👮‍♂️ ~ You could agree with the sheriff or not, but I see people making all kinds of crazy comments about “corruption“ and believing that. Is it a cop supposed to follow the evidence the best they can? If the previous cop decides that someone is guilty does that mean every other cop just asked about down and follow the plan that one single detective started? If the investigation is wrong you’re not allowed to disagree and try to make sure the right thing is done? It’s like people don’t use their brain. Because if the sheriff just blindly went along with a bad investigation they would be criticizing him for that. I don’t know that we use critical thinking enough today. Well, actually I know that we don’t.

    • @morgansummers6786
      @morgansummers6786 2 місяці тому +1

      Following the evidence is fine but it’s wildly inappropriate to go to the suspect’s home and all but promise to make this go away and bad mouth his own employees working on the case. By your own logic, why does he get to make the decision that the case should be dismissed? who gave him the authority to single-handedly Keep the people who are working on the case from submitting it to the district attorneys office for review and possible prosecution ? There are many steps that need to be taken by many different people before someone is charged with a crime, but you’re saying one person can step in and say no you’re wrong and all those other people no longer get a say? Make that make sense

    • @iMatti00
      @iMatti00 Місяць тому

      @@morgansummers6786
      I appreciate your thoughts. But the first few comments you said Seems to me they wouldn’t really be an issue if you agreed the person should not be charged. Like if he was bad mouthing employee that turned out to be wrong. We’re saying he was going to get these charges dismissed or get someone out of prison because he was sure DNA would clear them. So I don’t know so much that is what he does there’s a problem.
      As for one person standing in the way of charges, there’s always one person standing in the way of a charge and that’s usually the district attorney. But in this case the sheriff isn’t really directly responsible, my guess is he’s more speaking colloquially about planning on having them dismissed by providing updated information to the prosecutor’s office.
      So I don’t know if this guy is guilty or not, if the investigation was good or not, or whatever. I just see people losing their minds over the sheriff when if the situation was a little bit different they would be jumping up and down praising him.

      The Murdaugh case is really interesting for what never came out in court. Or even the news. You would think they would want to report on all the really shocking details. But they didn't.
      That whole Murdaugh family has a long history of being on both sides of the law.
      It's really interesting the stuff that just didn't get reported. A long time ago Murdaugh was involved with a man who was a known cocaine smuggler. Ironically both his beach property and the land his house was on were transferred to Murdaugh from a known drug smuggler for next to nothing. Together at the very same time.
      It being the former property of a cocaine smuggler is why it had a hanger and a former airstrip.
      The reason why his wife was there that night rather than at the beach house where she was staying was because someone broke in, dumped diesel fuel all over and tried to torch the place.
      But that wasn't enough evidence for the judge. He didn't let the defense even mention the attempted arson. They were forced to call it a fuel spill. A fuel spill in the house that was broken into because that makes total sense.

It is not his position to decide who is guilty and how people are charged. That isn't his position. Whether he plans to do it or not, like he said it may cost him votes because he knew it was wrong. He also went to the solicitor so he had plans. He just realized early on that it wouldn't work. Now he's making accusations about the recording being sold to create a strawman distraction. Normally a sheriff, or a police chief, operates as a CEO and the management of the investigative division should be involved in reviewing the work of their detectives. In this instance it appears the sheriff jumped over all those other mid level managers and took control of the case. My Q is why.

Now, if he was right or not, that's a whole nother topic, but with that statement, it seems like he truly believed there was more to the story and wanted the suspects side of the story. I would want a sheriff that if they believe there is more to the story, they make sure it comes out. It's not corruption. He did nothing illegal!
