Durability test man. You aren't going to half ass a video scratching a phone with keys. This is supposed to simulate how strong the phone actually is under 10 minutes, not a year. But hey, to each their own.
Yeah it’s to make it water resistant for 30 minutes and makes room for more. The jack doesn’t do much beside carry audio signal, so it needs its own amplifier and digital audio converter which your headphones can do. So removing it would make more sense.
I wouldn't say it's the future of smartphones, but it is where the industry is heading. They weren't the first, numerous other phones have started doing it as well. Anyway, removing it would allow for many other improvements. (Better speakers, better water resistance, larger battery, etc.)
I take long haul flights and used to have bluetooth headphones but they do not last. I have Bose noise cancelling headphones now which you could not plug in while charging your phone on these long haul flights anymore.

A classic video. Here I am using my 7+ when it's nearly 2023. Replaced the battery a year ago and unfortunately cracked the screen last month. That will be an easier fix compared to the battery at least!
These are some interesting tests. I like seeing how the screen recovers itself from heat; it's quite magical. Another youtuber has confirmed the sapphire material for the screen using a mineral detector device.

Yeah it’s to make it water resistant for 30 minutes and makes room for more. The jack doesn’t do much beside carry audio signal, so it needs its own amplifier and digital audio converter which your headphones can do. So removing it would make more sense.

Killing the headphone jack is stupid yet Apple fanboys and girls will say it's the future of smartphones. Well it clearly isn't.
I wouldn't say it's the future of smartphones, but it is where the industry is heading. They weren't the first, numerous other phones have started doing it as well. Anyway, removing it would allow for many other improvements. (Better speakers, better water resistance, larger battery, etc.)
better water resistance? from what it did not have any. Also Samsung phones have better water resistance rating and yet still have headphone jack.
Similar to how people cried when Apple removed the CD drive from their Macs.
I take long haul flights and used to have bluetooth headphones but they do not last. I have Bose noise cancelling headphones now which you could not plug in while charging your phone on these long haul flights anymore.

Water resistant......every phone is water resistant as long as you dont turn it on when it gets wet ! And $700 for a phone....when the cost of producing phones has lowered drastically over the past decade! Same goes for SAMGSUNG, HTC,CRAPPY LG. I use to have this phone right before I upgraded to my 12. I loved my iPhone 7! It got me through my day with no issues and exceeded my expectations as a smartphone
Apple stopped the headphone jack to save money for itself and make the consumer spend more. Result = more profit for Apple. No other explanation needed.
I understand company's want all the profit they can get and apple can get you to pay almost anything for their products but I dont see how the headphone jack would be so much more expensive but it comes to how much you are willing to spend to get what everyone else has, it's funny how consumerism works!
I have been using Bluetooth headphones for years and they are way better and I appreciate that without it I have more speakers more internals

1. Apple removed it because it is old tech
2. The result of losing the chunky headphone jack made space for a bigger battery
3. It also made it possible to have a bigger Taptic Engine making the fake home button possible.
Many more reasons than just for profit.
Also, charging ports are replaceable for around $10 - don’t get a new phone.
