I'm surprised you hiked by yourself rather than with your wife
Those bricks as definitely an old Cattle Vat. Very hard to get a permit to build on or around an area where those ones were used because of the toxicity of the pesticides that were used, that is underground

Awesome video. I've been in florida 45 years and never saw a squirrel like that one. Nails from the 1800's were square kind of like miniature railroad ties.
I thought so too about the nails. Looked definitely newer than 1800s. Thank you

cool preserve never knew about it...always great to have an encounter with a Shermans fox squirrel they are endangered due to habitat loss
Currently watching and know already it’ll be the highlight of my St. Paddy’s Day! So far I’ve seen a squirrel, a black snake, so many cool abandoned structures, and I’m just halfway through!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Love the backgroads and forgotten places. You mentioned Zephyrhills, my favorite water, ever. When I visit Family in Florida, I always get a few cases to take back home with me! And I always grab some good orange blossom honey as well!

If you haven’t made it out to Orlando wetlands yet, it’s a great place to take a hike kind of a long drive. It’s on the north side of Fort christmas, but it’s totally worth it. Go early and when you get there, make a reservation for the free swamp buggy ride. The park is free parking is free. There’s a nice restroom, but bring your own water, a shade hat,and bug spray if you wear it.
