Little fact about her discovering the wings are gone: Angelina Jolie said the scene was one giant metaphor for being violated. The drugging, the pain, realizing what happened, it's all right there. P.S. I'm only wording it as such to get past the censors.
I love how they did “true love’s kiss” in this one, because just like with Frozen, it shows that true love doesn’t only come from romantic love. Also, it’s just an adorable take on the story and I love it.
I like how she did true loves kiss to show Stefan this was really just trying to curse him from all the lies he’s said and done, but using his daughter to get back at him. Though she shouldn’t have cursed aurora, I like how she wants revenge on the one person she ever loved romantically. Taking part of her body rather than killing her is worse. The wings were so important to her. It’s like losing an arm kinda. Stefan is the true villain
I actually really like the concept of this movie. It’s like the original Sleeping Beauty story, but it’s from the perspective of the villain. It actually sounds like a really good idea written down. Also, I do have to say Angelina Jolie as Maleficent was a pretty good performance. Even Elle Fanning plays a pretty believable Aurora. Granted, this isn’t exactly a Disney live-action remake, but but it still feels like one. Which is probably why we still put it on the list of Disney live-action remakes.
Actually, the old one we can interpret it like the story we were told, like the peasants think it was what happened. But this one is actually from the perspective of Aurora, the only one that can tell the story without biass, the one called the "Sleeping Beauty"
The whole sequence were Stephen drugs her and cuts here wings was supposed to be a metaphor for S.A. She was told to tap into that mindset for this scene thats why her scream when she woke up was so visual and disturbing. Appropriate reaction as it was so real. Say what u want about the movie but theres no denying Angelina really nailed her performance. ✨️Girly ate and left no crumbs✨️
@@johnsantos507even her in descendants, even to I think maleficent in descendants was more like a chaotic and pretty bad mom than a real villain, but she gives one of the bests songs of the first movie
The fact that the Three faires, who were supposed to take care of Aurora but they literally would have caused her death if it wasnt for Maleficent being there, I mean I really hate the faires in this movie, in the original they were clumsy, but also loving and caring, in the remake these people spend half the time arguing and the other half sleeping, The relationship between Stefan and Maleficent wasnt explored well in my opinion, I wish we got more scenes could have been like Ramses and Moses reminiscing about Good old days, and maybe have Maleficent say goodbye and have a satisfying conclusion against Stefan 5 or 6 out of 10 movie it has good effects and Maleficent is well acted especially by Angelina Jolie
This story is the finest fairy tale when Maleficent was betrayed, hatred on humans and never trust anyone. I don’t blame her. Until Aurora comes around, she changes her heart of joy, laugh, and resembling a mother and daughter relationship. 16:12 Fun Fact: The little girl is real life Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter
I remember seeing this movie when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I really like it a lot and the humor is very good, the fact that you see it for the first time is a good decisión! 😂
I really feel bad for the Queen, mother of Aurora. She married Stefan only to found out, he lied to her, never loved or even cared (he didn't even visit on her death bed) her and facade that Stefan kept was torn down was revealed front of other people and then Stefan took away their child... and we never get even her name.
You weren’t the only one, don’t worry haha I also thought the crow guy (Diaval) was going to be the one to break the curse. I watched this movie in theatres with my aunt when I was 12, and right after coming out of the theatre she told us she was our fairy godmother (she was my sister’s actual godmother). It’s been 8 years since she passed away and this movie reminds us of her ❤
What gets me about this 'villain made relatable' approach is that it starts with "here's a nice fairy girl who does cute magic with leaves, and her name means *EVIL* "
I've seen that before it was beautiful especially that Maleficent having wings and get to know her past. I can see how villains are they turn evil because of what happened in their past and everyone deserve a second chance they can forgive and forget and it be better. And she woke up Princess Aurora too. I still can't believe the king turned out evil.
Here's some interesting research I found on the actual story: Apparently the spinning wheel is a metaphor for growing up. The Curse was essentially Maleficent saying, "She will be given the chance to grow up." By burning them, the king was saying, "She will NEVER grow up!"
I thought it was gonna be the crow too on my first watch, specifically with the same theme of platonic love bc he nursed her, played with her and looked after her since she was a child😆
As kids Maleficent and Stefan played around with her flying and him holding onto her foot, but he fell into the water. Years later history repeats itself only this time he falls to his death
I loved this movie and the twist on maleficent. VERY unique having her end up being the one that cares for sleeping beauty. I the dark masters golem approves 😜(yes Timmy it's me 😂) now I'm off to finish my job 😈😜
A Disney Villain perspective film that no one asked for, yet it was pretty good, at least in my opinion. I still favor the 1959 version of Maleficent, but Angelina Jolie portrayed the character very, very well!
Everyone during reactions not wanting Diaval to be the one to waken Aurora😂 Poor guy can’t be the hero because he’s a crow and is like a father to her.
Day 240 of me requesting a reaction to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. {Sleeping Beauty}'s Maleficent: "I call upon the forces of Hell to impede the path of my quarry." {Maleficent}'s Maleficent: *A tragic mess*
I hate with a burning passion the "film" Maleficent. It goes out of it's way to take everything you loved about the original Sleeping Beauty and twist it and make everyone unlikeable. To go into more detail they took one of the greatest villains of all time Maleficent and turned her into a simple case of "Poor misunderstood" while wanting to do the Wicked story and to make her look better they made everyone around her into either an idiot or completely unlikeable. The Fairies who were smart enough, resourceful and almost successful in hiding Aurora for 16 years not only become whiny little idiots who couldn't raise a baby, but have Maleficent find her and SHE is the one who raises Aurora. King Stefan in the original was a kind man who only wanted to see his daughter again, pffft forget that we have to have him be this gruff deep voice mean man who has a history with Maleficent and make us want to root for her. Now if they had wanted to do a Maleficent origin story, maybe that could have worked, but it goes out of it's way to make her the hero, where the original was evil for the love of being evil. She doesn't even turn into the dragon in this one. It's her emo crow boy. It is in my top ten worst films I have ever seen.
The Three faires would have caused Aurora to die, if it wasnt for Maleficent being there. THE WITCH WHO CURSED AURORA IS THE ONE WHO SAVES AND RAISES HER!!!!! I mean WTF????
@@justsomeguywholovesberserk6375 Another thing that doesn't work about it is the fact of the character's name Maleficent has this as definitions: Harmful or malicious in intent or effect. Doing evil to others; harmful; mischievous. So either they could have done a completely different villain, have her be a villain instead of a hero, or renamed her which probably wouldn't have gone over well. Which goes to show this was a failed idea. You can't have a character be a hero who's name means to do harm.

16:16 That's Angelina Jolies real life daughter! She was the only one not scared of her in costume.
Disney turned one of their most well know and evil villain into a beloved and sympathetic ant-hero🤩
Well, she's different than her counterparts such as the cartoon version and the other one from Kingdom Hearts.

The part about the wings being cut off was the most violated acting scene for Angelina. It was meant to show Maleficent was like r*ped or something
Someone once said "It's interesting how people will push you till your breaking point and when you do break they treat you as a monster?"
I prefer Maleficent as pure evil, but Angelina did an amazing job portraying her.
