I graduated awhile back. I didn't make friends in the dorm, but I hung out at the Student Union so much. I made so many important, real friends that way.
The music department with Mr. Frank Pooler, many years ago, provided the training I needed for years to come. We were so blessed to have Mr. Frank Allen, Mr. Phillip Ellithorpe, Mr. Wayne Gard, and Mr. Frank Pooler for music classes, choirs, and glorious friends for years to come!
Transferring from El Camino College to CSULB this Fall 2021!! Super excited! Thank you for the tips! I definitely agree about not listening /too/ much to the advisors. During my time at El Camino College (a community college), I took 4 required classes for my General ED and took at least 1 other class that would distract my mind from the stress. A few of the classes that help to not feel so much workload would be classes like Boot-camp PE, A language class where you wanna learn a new language (I took Japanese), and even classes that revolve around another major you're interested in (I took Theatre 103, which is introduction to acting. I took 2 more acting classes after that. I fell in LOVE with acting even more. It made me discover that, yes, I would like to pursue a second career out of it-- my first major is Criminal Justice). Please, please, PLEASE take at least 1 or 2 classes that will distract you from your homework (if you're not working-- but if you are and you believe you can manage, go for it!). You will thank yourself later and you'll find college just a little bit more fun. Wishing you all the best!
I wanted to ask you some questions.Since i also want to transfer to this unviversity. How did you transfer? What documents are required? And did you get any scholarship? Thanks in advance.
Back inn the dawn of time - the early 1960s - I spent a very happy year at LBState (if was a college then, several years from becoming a university). I had a great time and learned a lot. I didn't go back after the 1963-64 school year because I got married (so glad most young people don't do that now but back then, a LOT did). Several years later, I finished my BA and MA at UCLA. But, I have to say that Long Beach was my favorite of the two schools. I got an excellent education from professors who were not under the publish or perish politics of UCLA type schools (or they weren't then) and they were more accessible to the students.
I am planning to apply for the master in computer science for spring 2021. My bachelor's aggregate percentage is 78%. What are my chances? Any suggestions in the application .
I would not recommend students attend csulb unless they are studying a STEM field. The career center caters to STEM and sometimes accountants. That is it. Everyone else is basically fked. I would say this as someone who graduated with multiple degrees from csulb and knew people in several diffent majors. Some got out and could make 65k but most it was $25k a year. I am not making that up. Out of all the people i knew in various majors only two are making over $150k, and that is 15 years out of college. Most are still making under 100k (even business majors). The others are even lower.
yes that is true, its so impacted. Please I wish I would have gone to a different csu my advisors have been not very helpful. It's gonna take me 5 years to graduate now. However, they are super helpful with financial aid and we also have a food pantry for those who cant afford food. The dorms are an issue, but many students get apartments with friends they met in long beach. In fact there is one ENTIRE apartment complex just full of us.Still, its so so packed. So if you want to graduate on time, its going to be super hard. Especially if you are S.T.E.M major.
Maribel sauce yes. I had to get straight A's as a transfer student from Northern California to get it. So cal transfers get 1st pic of their grades allow it
I am double majoring with Film and Communication. I am graduating on the 5 year track because I worked my butt off with classes. If I only had one major I would have graduated in 4. But the trick is, starting when you are a freshman, is to go to this university and community college at the same time. There are some classes that are intro level at the community college that can transfer (make sure they transfer first!), that I took. At CSULB each semester I did 15 units, plus one class at community during Fall and summer. Maybe I am over the top, but that is how I did it.

Class of 1995, here. The shuttle service from lower campus parking lots to upper campus was a lifesaver!

When you transfer do they look at SAT and ACT tests? I never took them and I’m just wondering because I plan on transferring too from my two year.
If you don't live in the residence halls, it's almost impossible to make friends.
Fortunately, I'm a grad student and don't have to talk to that many people.
I was thinking to apply for this University, but I need some financial assistance. Can anyone help me out!!!
