- In this video, I build upon a recent essay that I published on my website in which I discuss my ideas around the development of photography portfolios and developing themes and photographic styles within the art.
In this video, I discuss:
How the process of reflecting upon our photographs and experiences can help to deepen our work, discover portfolio ideas, and find new artistic direction.
Following our intuition and souls' guidance to discover our true path as an artist.
The process of self-discovery and self-creation that we embark upon through our creative journeys.
Communicating from the soul through out photographs, portfolios and messages.

Thank you Brad, as ever a thought provoking video. I have recently been giving more thought to my 'why'. I am starting to think that my why is wrong and needs to change. If I am honest with myself I am taking pictures to document events and sights. A recording process which is more practical than creative. Many of my pictures record beauty but that is not the same as creating beauty. I am also looking for approval or recognition, which is not an ideal creative driver. On the positive side I have never followed the herd or tied myself down to a style or genre. So I think I need to dig a bit deeper. Move beyond these motivations in order to discover the core of the creative urge within me. I used to think I was not good enough to call myself a photographer, but I believe I am now. However, I still do not think of my photograpgy as art, and that is something I want to work on.
