When this video hit, EVERYONE was blown by the whole transformation. Video and song are standing the test of time. Love and spirituality are timeless - two of Madonna’s consistent themes (throughout her career). She nailed it with this song, and with the album.
The best one.. Besides that... She looks extremely beautiful... Her hair... Her face... Her body... One of the most beautiful womans In the world... She was stunning that night...
At some point, you should react to the video for "Ghosttown" from the Rebel Heart album. A great "recent-era" Madonna song and video, that is among her best. It's a shame that she no longer gets the radio play and video attention that she still deserves because the industry treats her and many other living legends like Janet as too "old" to be popular.
I remember hearing this song growing up butI don't recall seeing the video when it came out or when I was growing up. It's a very distinctive song in her catalogue - I love the instrumental middle section, it's very atmospheric and cinematic. Love you guys and love seeing your reactions on Madonna journey!
The whole tour is fire. Better that they watch the music video first. If you're gonna recommend a performance from Girlie Show, start with Vogue, then add on Justify My Love and Deeper and Deeper (both of which incorporate remixes).
@@got2bjosh well, I'm not crazy abour those performances thst you just mentioned. To me Fever, Bye Bye Baby, Why's it so Hard and Like a Virgin are the highlights from that show.
@@NocturneSoul Vogue took a month to fully choreograph during tour rehearsals and should be duly honored. Justify My Love (Remix) is an ode to Ball culture as well as a fashion extravaganza. Express Yourself features her descending on a disco ball, a harbinger of her Confessions Tour opening. Deeper and Deeper (Remix) has yet to be outdone by later tour showings. Yes, the Girlie Show is great because of the balance between spectacle-laden set pieces and character driven performances. No doubt you forgot to add I'm Going Bananas. Her growls elevated that performance above the studio version.
“You only see what your eyes want to see...” That’s another point to get your gay card back. Do Material Girl next. Wear a blonde wig like Madge and you’ll get an extra point. ;-)
Pat01 I wanna give them their gay card back but they (at least Dan) needs to atone for not knowing who Vanessa Williams is. Quite a bit of a ways to go... after Madge it’s Cher!
Seeing the premiere of this video in 1998 I was just blown away into particles. I thought at this point in Madonnas career she's done everything, boy was I wrong...Instead I just witnessed her second coming.... Forever frozen in time
I Remember when I was a kid and I saw this video for the first time, I was so in love and hypnotized. Then my mama watched it and she said that it was a satanic video hahahahaha The song and the video are pure art, so beautiful. And her performance on Madame X Tour was beautiful as well
That was when Madge pulled off another amazing stunt. All the girls wanted theses henna tattoos back then. In Germany they showed it first on the News, really on the evening news.
That was fun to watch with you two...little bit of history behind the release of this song & it’s video. Madonna, at that time, had not recorded an album in like 10+ years. Madonna started taking vocal lessons in preparation for her role in Evita (1996), which is why critics say this was her best vocal performance on an album ever. She would also give birth to her daughter, Lourdes, later in 1996. These events inspired a period of introspection. So, this was a highly anticipated album. When the video premiered on MTV, critics went crazy over it! Then the album was released and the critics went crazy over it! To this day, the “Ray of Light” album is her most critically acclaimed album of her career, and it earned her 4 Grammy wins for the first time, on any previous albums. For a long time, Madonna was not given the credit where credit is due for her artistic and musical talents, especially when it came to lyrics. As a lyricist, she is likely one of the best in the music industry. Teaming up with William Orbit, one of the MOST popular electronic music producers/performers in the industry still to this very day, was likely the best decision she ever made when recording/writing/producing the “Ray of Light” album. After the success of this album, she continued to collaborate with William Orbit on her next studio album release which was the “Music” album. Once again, another massive hit for Madonna. To me, I feel the time she spent with William Orbit, is and will ALWAYS be the best years of her musical career. In my nighttime prayers, I even pray Madonna & William team up again...kidding, but seriously, I really wish she would team up with him again. William Orbit is a GENIUS, and Madonna is a genius gifted writer...the two of them together are like chocolate & peanut butter, they always go great together!
I love how Madonna makes Easter eggs on her songs. Open Your Heart: "open your heart to me, baby. I hold the lock and YOU HOLD THE KEY" Frozen: "give yourself to me. YOU HOLD THE KEY" Turn Up The Radio: "buzzing around LIKE A MOTH TO A FLAME. I'm so sick and tired of playing this game." To Have Not To Hold: "LIKE A MOTH TO A FLAME. Only I am to blame."
This song was the highlight in her latest tour Madame X: she was singing on the piano and her daughter was dancing on big visuals screens remaking the video. 😉
You guys are hilarious! The way you see Madonna as a legacy oldies act makes me realise just how old a queen I really am! Late 90s you both must've been babies. Even Brittany is now a legacy act! They are just the latest in a long line that stretches way back to Judy Garland, Doris Day, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli Donna Summer
9:35 Did they not watch Human Nature, Like a Prayer, and Nothing Really Matters? Dark hair in each of those videos... Also, there's The Power of Good-Bye music video (from her magnum opus, Ray of Light), the American Life era where she was brunette at times, and now Madam X.
Nice reactions! Love to see.young guys discovering Madonna! Its interesting to see how eager to understand and point every little aspect of the video, as if should be an obvious story or something. Sometimes it's just about the feelings, there's no need to a storytelling (sorry my English).
LOVING your videos. For someone who lived through all these Madonna releases, it's very interesting to see how younger people react to her incredible body of work. You MUST react to Beautiful Stranger, which she did for the Austin Powers soundtrack, following the huge success of Ray Of Light :)
You guys gotta do a double video viewing of "Take a Bow" and "You'll see" The story in the videos continues from Take a Bow to Youll see. Both are ballads but are awesome.
one of her best times....the album, the videos! I did get up at 6:45 am to watch the first screening of the day at 6:55 am on a famous music channel....and then i went to school...mhhhhh...I luv yr reactions!
Madonna was brunette in Nothing really Matters & Like a Prayer.. which you have watched! Enjoying being a new follower of your channel 😃 My vote next would be Oh Father or Bad Girl.. Give the ballads some love!
How ON EARTH Dan hasn’t watched or heard THAT SONG MY GOOOD!!!!!! it’s really embarrassing...im a latino from Chile and i listened to it when I was a little kid
This may be my personal favourite Madonna song. It sounds so different compared to her other work and her look is intriguing (sp?). Plus, this song is older than me, lol.
One of my all time favorite song. Thanks for doing this. Another one that I like most is the song “You’ll See” from the album Something To Remember. Prepare to see fabulous outfits, drama and the “matador”! Love you guys!
"Frozen" is a radio classic, just like "Beautiful Stranger." The special effects on this video were some of the best of the time. You need to react to The Confessions Tour!!! Or at least the Future Lovers/I Feel Love intro, which is incredible!!!
You guys make me feel old and I'm in my 30's. All of these "this looks so old"...like how have you lived on planet earth and not heard these Madonna songs lol.
Ray of Light, the album, was worldwide a huge success and was in the charts almost two years. This was the first single, n. 1 everywhere except in the USA.
Boyzzz you should Give a shot to Madonna's Give It 2 Me!!! What are you waiting for, nobody's gonna show you how!!! Like, it's one of Madonna's biggest EUROPEAN HITS from last 10 years 😏 And she gave us looks in that video - OMG you need to check it out like rite now - you will be wet 😉
Frozen is one of my faves from her album Ray Of Light. Please react to Madonna's superbowl 2012 and Living for love at the Grammys Awards. Her latest live performance of Medellin feat Maluma at the Billboard Music Awards 2019 too is great!
Gonna start calling Dan "thumbs" for now on. He's always holding up both thumbs at same time and moving his hands around. Doesn't matter if it's a slow song, fast song, banger, instrumentals, or anything. 👍
The whole Ray of Light album is fabulous and she worked with William Orbit on the sound, which gives it the trance vibe. This was a big comeback album for her as Bedtime stories was criminally underrated at the time. It was also her first album after becoming a mother and getting involved with Eastern Mysticism and Kabbalah, which also heavily influenced the album. As a girl at Uni in 1998 this album came out at a really difficult time in my life and became a sort of anthem for me especially Frozen and Power of Goodbye. Still to date Ray of Light is my fav of her albums, but she’s done so many great albums and I love her advocacy for minorities and willingness to court controversy over what she feels is right and her commitment to living the way she feels she wants to regardless of society’s disapproval so long as she is doing no harm.
Hey Dan, just wanna tell you some little things about the song. Madonna said herself that this song was a big change for her in terms of her music. It deals with a person, who is emotionally "frozen" and not able to get back or forth. Madonna also gave birth to her daughter and became interested in mysticism, the Kaballah and other eastern ideas of mystery. I would say that it always will remain as one of the big defining moments for her. The three Madonnas could be a reference to the holy number of three / the trinity (in many religions, trinities are found - and if i remember correctly, all of them are female, except for christianity). I think its great you go on a search for the roots of Madonna and experience her music. But i dont if its helpful if you use terms that are not in line with that specific time. "Emo" (as we understand it today as a visual appearance) for example was not even a thing at that time. I think its absolutely great that you two are looking into Madonna and her history, but please inform yourself beforehand about the songs you are viewing and giving reactions to as a kind gesture to the artist.
U guys should really react to "don't tell me". Total bop, she serves choreo, the song is pure Madonna genius: high quality, alternative-but-make-it-mainstream pop.
I love this song and video. She was brunette in the Who's That Girl, Like a Prayer, Rain (in a wig), I'll Remember, in a little bit in Bedtime Story, this video, Power of Goodbye, Nothing Really Matters, some part in Hollywood (in wigs) videos. And in brunette wig in the Geisha section of the Drowned World Tour and the Morna section from the Madame X Tour and in concert video backdrops and interludes: Paradise Not For Me from Drowned World Tour, Vogue from the Reinvention Tour and in the World of Madame X documentary and in the 1st video interlude of the Madame X Tour.
When this remix played in the clubs..... everything went pitch black and you could only hear the bell and its echo.... and when the song started everyone went wild
Another recommendation..... paradise(not for me). Technically not a video but was meant as a backdrop for her drowned world tour, but the video is very artistic and beautiful.
She was entering her most spiritual/mystical phase with this single and the Ray of Light album too and it was ahead of its time for sure. I think there is a live performance of this song on UA-cam, from a japanese show if i'm not wrong where she wears this same outfit. I've been following your Madonna journey after the Rusical on Drag Race. I think your next step should be one of her live performances from any tour, that's where you see she's a force of Nature.
You guys have to put yourself in the place in where we never had these type of visuals and music before. Your reactions are so simple . Everything in each period in time is a moment to learn from. Gays were not accepted like they are now. Music and visuals are always changing. At this time, she brought in to reflect within , introspection and finding your light. Hearing you guys comments are annoying but I thank you for checking out the Queen 👑👑👑
Love your reactions thanks for doing madonna keep doing it please. The videos are beautiful but the live presentations are also amazing, a mean the way that she remake her own song is just art. Video suggests celebration!!
Did you guys know that Madonna recovered from having the coronavirus? With that being said, you guys should do either "Fever," one of her more underrated MV or "La Isla Bonita," one of her more ICONIC looks.
Respect Madonna the queen of pop she inspired your generation of pop artist like Gaga , etc etc Madonna was ahead of her time that’s why she will always the queen of pop
This video was shot in color. And she did perform this song live in numerous TV shows in Europe and in America like Wetten Das and Rosie O'Donnell Show. Check them out and react to them on your own time or post them here on UA-cam.
Thank u guys for doing this Madonna Journey! enjoying it so far. I just wish u wouldn’t try to find a literal meaning/story for every video and just enjoy the asthetics of it and the feeling is trying to portrait. U guys would enjoy it way more lol
This song is a masterpiece. The lyrics and the production are pure class.
Stream #FinallyEnoughLove
This is one of her best songs. Period.
Agree best album as well..... totally ground breaking
This is also the period of her best songs.
Amen
She has dark hair in "Rain", "The Power of Goodbye" , "Nothing Really Matters" & "Like A Prayer"
... also, in "American Life", and at least in a way, in "Who's That Girl", and partially in "Medellín", "Open your heart" and "Hollywood"
And also in I'll remember
Rain is a great song
Please react to MADONNA - AMERICAN LIFE (UNCENSORED), one of her most controversial videos!

OMG YES
Also with black hair! 😂

It's time for live vocals ¿right? "Sooner or Later live at Academy Awards"
Yeah, one of her legendary live performances, EVER.
The best one.. Besides that... She looks extremely beautiful... Her hair... Her face... Her body... One of the most beautiful womans In the world... She was stunning that night...
React to "The Power of Goodbye" she has black hair in it and she looks in my opinion the most stunning she has ever looked.
Ever. She was gorgeous. She even complained about how good the cinematography made her look.
That blueish green color of the Ray of Light album is so pretty
Agree
YES
Just a great song! 😍
“The power of goodbye” is the video you will see her in black hair, BEAUTIFUL! And the song is just one of her bests!
Ghosttown is AMAZING! The video and song are perfection...💖
Please don't call it "emo". That description hadn't been coined yet. Thank goodness.
Future Lovers/I Feel Love-The Confessions Tour!!!
How did this not take off. You guys are hilarious.
The video for American Life (unsencored version) features dark haired Madonna.
Her performance of this on her Drowned World Tour was the best live performance of it.
I remember hearing this song growing up butI don't recall seeing the video when it came out or when I was growing up. It's a very distinctive song in her catalogue - I love the instrumental middle section, it's very atmospheric and cinematic.
Love you guys and love seeing your reactions on Madonna journey!
React to the Drowned world tour live version of this song if you want your wigs to be snatched. Also to sky fits heaven live from the same tour.

Guys!! Guys!!! You need to reacto to either "take a bow" or "cherish" . Two different music styles but totally awesome!!!
Cherish is not even the best music video by Herb Ritts. That distinction belongs to My All. Stunning.

Darlan Pereira they were not born yet lol
I was aking the same...
I know, wtf
They said they know the song
They have… they are just delusional and have the Peter Pan complex.
Please react to Die Another Day, if u wanna see madonna fighting with madonna

The video... The song... Her voice is just Pure Art...

I forgot how much I loved this song. Thanks for reacting and for the reminder.

In Germany they showed it first on the News, really on the evening news.
Ur correct! Everyone looked into what henna was about after this! And got one!
I think it's time for "Living for love" Brit live performance, of course by Madonna, You have to go through it like the rest of us.......
@arshi oink totally !! I hope they are going to react to it soon

I’m loving the content y’all r posting keep it coming 🥰🥰🥰
A great pair of videos of hers is "take a bow" and "you'll see" the songs and videos tell a story together.
The next one should be either Rain, Take a bow or I remember (From the with Honors soundtrack)
Yes. She was also dark hair in Rain and I'll remember. Take a bow is really nice. And "the power of goodbye"
I vote for the next one being RAIN
I am one of those non-Madonna fans who liked Frozen and Rain only.
"Frozen" is a radio classic, just like "Beautiful Stranger." The special effects on this video were some of the best of the time. You need to react to The Confessions Tour!!! Or at least the Future Lovers/I Feel Love intro, which is incredible!!!
H E N N Y! Y’all need to be checking out “Open Your Heart” - Madonna! It’s ICONIC!!!
Check out this version of Frozen from the Drowned World Tour 2001. Sky fits heaven is to die for. She’s on bungee chords flying around.

Gonna start calling Dan "thumbs" for now on. He's always holding up both thumbs at same time and moving his hands around. Doesn't matter if it's a slow song, fast song, banger, instrumentals, or anything. 👍
Of all her personas, looks and songs, this is my Madonna! I've loved this since it first came out. Amazing!
One of her best songs ever!! Pure perfection in terms of lyrics, music, style and I could go on and on

It’s not for everyone but I love this Madonna aesthetic
We danced at the clubs to remixes of this that lasted 15 minutes...talk about sensual vibes. Clubbing in the 90's was so much fun.
Her no 1 comeback single in 98 after she had Lourdes. One of the best she has done
U guys should really react to "don't tell me". Total bop, she serves choreo, the song is pure Madonna genius: high quality, alternative-but-make-it-mainstream pop.
My favorite from the Madame X tour!!! she sung Frozen while her daughter Lourdes dance on the video background. Flawless !!
I agree with you, some museum should do an exhibit on Madonna's costumes and fashion
I’ve seen this several times live. The best was the recent Madame X Tour.
Amazing interlude with her daughter Lourdes...the Drowned World Tour version was amazing!
When this remix played in the clubs..... everything went pitch black and you could only hear the bell and its echo.... and when the song started everyone went wild

I remember Madonna won 🏆 like 7 or 8 Grammys for these magnificent work just ❤❤❤❤beautiful album from the beginning to the end !!!!!
This is one of my favorite songs ever. The lyrics is amazing
Love you and hate you for not reacting to Sooner or Later at the 1991 Oscars. I'm not asking anymore!!!
It’s against the gay rules that you have never saw this video OMG it’s so iconic
Aquaria doing this song in werq the world was one of my fav moments
This song, live from the drowned world tour, will blow your minds guys!!!
Look at these cute babies hearing Madonna for the first time.
I saw her perform this live in 98 when it came out. Look at her Japanese live show from 1998.
pls react to “take a bow” and “you’ll see” together they tell a story. it’s was during her “Evita” time.
“Madonna invented The Grudge”. Quote of the day.
This video was shot in color. And she did perform this song live in numerous TV shows in Europe and in America like Wetten Das and Rosie O'Donnell Show. Check them out and react to them on your own time or post them here on UA-cam.
My favourite Madonna song EVER!!!! Just stunning 😍
Thank u guys for doing this Madonna Journey! enjoying it so far. I just wish u wouldn’t try to find a literal meaning/story for every video and just enjoy the asthetics of it and the feeling is trying to portrait. U guys would enjoy it way more lol
