Let me now reply to this video as a fan. I love your channel for 3 main reasons: 1. I feel you created a very healthy fan base community. Where fans from all over Europe (and not) can access and comment about their teams. 2. There was a gap that you guys successfully figured out and manage to fill. Even during the social media era, there were only official media channels -mainly handled by big TV operators - that won’t ever give space to the fans to express their opinions about their teams and the game we all love. You managed to give a platform for us fans to express ourselves and enjoy the game all together. 3. Young people with fresh ideas. I feel like i am watching my friends speaking about basketball. Only that you guys are well prepared and have actually knowledge on the subject. Unlikely than my friends, where we usually fight about Olympiakos-PAO 😅 4 (bonus reason): all the above plus the content you share is not pay-to-view, but instead you created a user friendly monetisation model for the “hardcore” fans only, and for those who wants more. All other people can still follow you for free. Now what I don’t like are some of the clickbait takes and articles but I guess you also need that in order to generate some traffic 😊 Keep the good work! Greetings from an Oly fan 🙌🏽
I have to agree on the gap. EuroHoops long has had brilliant written content but with limited socials and marketing in Europe we were screaming out or at least I was for this type of platform and BN have filled in perfectly. Equally the community it feels healthy not just usual Europen Ball comments of Oly v Pana, Partizan v Crvena just insulting each other the content is of a high enough level you can have contrastive conversations. As a neutral a Brit living in Netherlands and now Hungary where the EL has 0 coverage in all 3 BN feels like almost the global provider for European Ball in written and visual content and strikes a perfect balance of bringing in new fans, accommodating to current fans and appealing to Basketball Nerds/neutrasl like myself. They really have changed the game and really landscape of European Ball when you have Americans in the media referencing the channel
@@alastairwood7277 props to you my friend for being a Brit and loving basketball. You’re the first one I “met” 😃 As Greek myself I used to follow Eurohoops (is greek-owned) but as you correctly said, they were lacking on some things. Personally, I always found it anonymous, and even though the content was good, was not very elaborated. Given the passion and the drive of the guys here in BN, I strongly believe they will reach a wider audience in the near future, and maybe expand on other sports as well, cause as we know (unfortunately) European basketball doesn’t bring you money. So they may have to review their strategy if they want to make this thing sustainable enough.
The Belgian , Dutch , Norwegian and Slovak basketball championships have either been continously in utter decline or disappeared from basketball after the 90s , the British just recently reappeared , the Polish only have 2 good teams eligible for Europe in Eurocup ( Arka Gdynia aka Asseco Prokom and Slask Wroclaw ) , the Bosnians only appear in international tournaments outside their country - same for the Kazakhs , Georgians , Moldovans , Romanians , Swedish , Danes , Slovenians , Czechs , Estonians and Latvians . One country who I would really like to be back in the Euroleague is Croatia . It just doesn't feel right with Cibona away from the competition . Generally if a country in Europe wasn't hit by the basketball boom of the 80's ( ie Greece , Spain , Italy , Germany , France etc ) or formerly being part of the former Yugoslavia ( Serbia , Croatia , Montenegro , Bosnia , Slovenia , FYROM ) or being a country pouring great amounts of money towards basketball from the 90s onwards ( ie Türkiye ) or have a basketball history of at least 60 years ( ie Russia , both as the Soviet Union and independently) , it's highly probable it doesn't have much of a relationship with basketball as a sport . The Swiss I don't know if they EVEN HAVE a basketball league . Also , let us not forget about countries like Luxembourg and Liechtenstein . I don't believe such countries have the credentials or population to create competitive basketball teams or championships . Monaco is excluded from this category since it's victories count as French and not independent . For further information , anybody interested about the history of basketball in Europe can also look up the history of our continental competition , the Eurobasket . For example , my country Greece won it's first medal in Eurobasket not in 1987 but in 1949 ( bronze ) .
Living in the UK I’m rarely able to see NBA games due to the time difference but this season I have decided to subscribe to the EuroLeague app and watch the matches on TV. Basketball in the UK is nowhere near the level that you have in mainland Europe but it is good to see the London Lions in the eurocup.
Great idea to try both leagues out.. You can always try to get the NBA league pass and watch whenever you want if not live....this is something that a big league like the Premier League lacks as it forces you to subscribe and pay so much money to see some of the games lol
@@Pavvy88 I prefer to watch sports live or just the highlights if not. If I’m going to spend the amount they want for NBA league pass I definitely want live matches at a time I can watch. The Euro League works for me in that respect.

Great video! I just started following Euroleague this year. I love your channel. I got hooked from the FIBA WC. Much love from Canada. The team I chose to follow this season is Valencia Basket. I also speak Spanish so I can watch all their content domestic and Euroleague. I also like underdogs. I didn't want to root for a powerhouse team. They also won the Eurocup last year woot woot!
Hey! Great so see a foreigner supporting my team, Amunt Valencia🟠!! Btw, we didnt win the Eurocup last year, we were back in Euroleague. But yes, we have 4 Eurocup titles and we won the ACB in 2017, you should follow the ACB too.
Another way to pick your favorite team is to see if you favorite soccer team has a team. Examples: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Olympiacos, Macabbi Tel Aviv, Fenerbache, Panathinaikos, Red Star Belgrade, Bayern Munich, AS Monaco. Clearly theres a bunch of tears to choose if you use this method
I‘ve been watching EL (and European Basketball) for about half a year now and for the most part i really enjoy it. The games are always intense and the atmosphere is pretty crazy. It has probably become my second most favorite sport to watch (coming from a Handballplayer/-fan which is obv my favorite sport to watch). I enjoy it more than the NBA bc all games are taken seriously and it always feels intense. Also the F4 format is my favorite thing in sports bc it makes for the most intense high stakes games imo. But there are a few things i‘m not enjoying too much: 1. is definitely the semi closed League system the EL has going on. I think participation in the best European league should be granted by your success in your domestic league and not by the size of your wallet. Bc with the current system if you have a surprise domestic champion most of their roster will just be bought up by the big European teams and the team becomes irrelevant again. Open the league and maybe give first time Participants some financial boost so they can hold their Star players. 2. probably one of the most annoying things are definitely the toxic fans on social media just hating everything. You can still be passionate about your club without hating every other club and insulting everyone disagreeing with you
Unfortunately semi closing the league was best decision they did. Problem with open league was that many teams would overspend, win local championship, come into league broke and underperform, next year there would 80% new teams. This hurt teams because they could not negotiate long sponsorship contracts. The organizations are growing, league is more competitive than ever. You still can qualify and compete for Eurocup title, which is second best euro competition. I am also not against the fact they opened doors to some french and German teams, proven stable budget teams with big untapped market and that is working out very well strategically. Hopefully one day UK can also do it. But at this point having open league no thanks, I have seen too many clubs go off the map after some rich billionaire decides to play basketball fantasy for a year or two.

I have a question, just curious. Is there any videos or channels talking about the Domestic Leagues in Europe? Excellent training video for all the newbies out there that covers what you need to know!! There is no such thing in the US so they wouldn't understand that, heck i struggled to understand that when i moved from the US to Cyprus 😂
Been following European hoops since the mid 80's. Live in Indiana which made it difficult, but back then I was in college and could read the newspapers from Italy at the library Also used to get the old FIBA Magazine
I liked this presentation very much. It would be even better, if you elaborated on which other teams are strong, but are not included in the Euroleague. Also, you could mention the other European basketball team cups, like Basketball Champions League.

Thank you so much for clarifying this! I want to start watching Euroleague to see real basketball and not the NBA so much with their gimmicky basketball and their political agenda.
As a British fan of game I was naturally more exposed to the NBA. I still follow the league but it’s getting worse each season and the Euroleague just can’t be beaten, football like atmospheres and tip offs at decent times.
Euroleague should have qualification based on domestic league position. This way it can be a true European competition where teams from all countries could theoretically qualify
Football superleague created so the big clubs could upgrade their supercar from their old Ferrari to a new Lamborghini. European basketball clubs, before closed league, hadnt even legs to drive a car and now trying to walk slowly. The old system was a disaster for basketball. Different sports, needs and situations.
Wild card is bought by teams that don't have long-term or so called ,,A licences" (like Spanish, Turkish, Greek teams for example) Qualification for Eurocup is based on performances in domestic league - I can speak for Adriatic ABA league - Budućnost and Cedevita Olimpija completed the top 4 last season of ABA playoffs (behind of course Red Star and Partizan)
Best teams in Euope? By no means... it is a closed circus where only the same teams play again and again, with some teams with connections (like tony parker's team) get also accepted etc. Two examples AEK in 2018 in 6 games against Euroleague teams won 3 (50%) for the Greek Cup and Championship. During that season, AEK won the BCL and Greek Cup, yet AEK was not in the Euroleague. Same in 2020, when AEK won the Greek Cup again, was a finalizt in the 2020 BCL and had 50% record against euroleague teams... Teams from the BCL like Kinder, Monaco etc have proven that there are good teams outside of the Euroleague. Therefore the euroleague should at least allow the 6 spots to be allocated through play-ins...
How about the degaradation system? If Real Madrid goes to botton of the league are they going to play in eurocup next season and get replace by eurocup champ?
There are few other international leagues where team becoming a champion receives wildcard to play in Euroleague. 1. Adriatic Basketball League A.K.A ABA League. In this league playing Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Montenegro and Bosnian teams. 2. EuroCup. International league controlling by Euroleague. Champion of this championship receives a wildcard. But sometimes a team who didn't won championship and but reached semi-finals or Final they have a chance to get wildcard too. But it depends of their finances. Good example russian team Saint Petersburg "Zenit" in 2018/2019 season reached semi-finals in EuroCup, but received wildcard to Euroleague because of big budget (16-18 Million Eur) and having coach with good CV of results.
BC Wolves is participating in Eurocup so they can get an invitation to Euroleague next season if they make it to the finals. They can reject it, like Gran Canaria did, if they don't want or don't have enough money for the jump in competition.
come on us guys, wake up early and watch the games. you'll figure out how europeans suffer for live nba games. :) wellcome to club. (last night i woke up 3 am for rockets preseason game, slept again 5.30 am or something and woke up 8 am for work.)
I can tell you what team to follow. OKEY, first you CAN'T follow any team you need to find LOVE for that team. Once you fell in love with team, supporters, culture around that club , it will get you easy hooked up. IF you are looking for great team, Boston Celtics of Europe and Serbia - BC Partizan. IF you wanna old euroleauge winner looking to take back their rightfull throne - BC Partizan. IF you wanna enjoy madness of 25000 people singing "Da volim crno bele" - BC Partizan. IF you like number one couch in the World, the one that Greg Popovich did learn a lot - BC Partizan. IF you have a need to hate yourself after loss and cry out of luck after every win - Basketball Club Partizan Belgrade. Easy, you can chose anyone of those five teams!
@@mda990 not sure what you mean, plenty of people naturallu love rooting for underdogs. Of course if your character type is glory hunter, the yes, it is not for you.
Yes and the pricing is different depending on the country you're watching from. For example, In Greece we are piss poor but for some reason its 90 euros/season, which is one of the highest prices in any country (to my knowledge), just because the demand is big. I'm in Japan right now where I can confidently tell you that they are waaay better off than Greece, and the price here is (with the current conversion rate) around 40 euros/year. Imo this is pretty scummy but it is what it is.

Nah, the teams that have the long term licenses stay in the league regardless of their position
Finally!
I thought the format was similar to the Champions League
where do watch it fr
About the wildcard, do teams qualify for that or they just have to pay? Like for example, is there a chance that BC wolves can be a euroleague team?
If you pay enough, you can get whatever you want in this league.
@@LinksmakalnietisOk, but screw Russia, I really don't care about them.
@@Linksmakalnietis thanks! That's very interesting
(last night i woke up 3 am for rockets preseason game, slept again 5.30 am or something and woke up 8 am for work.)
waking up 3 am for a Rockets preseason game is most masochist thing i heard for a long time🤣😂😂
@@mda990 sleep is overrated :)))
Easy, you can chose anyone of those five teams!
this is soo weird i have subscribe to you like 3 times already and everytime i check again im not subscribe…bruh YT TRIPPIN
Strange...
BellularGaming's long lost brother.
I only watch my team's games💪
Underdog (under budget) + passionate fans (only country in europe where bball is number 1 sport) - zalgiris kaunas.
Good start.
good start to suffer as a fan
@@mda990 not sure what you mean, plenty of people naturallu love rooting for underdogs. Of course if your character type is glory hunter, the yes, it is not for you.
@@mda990 kratos of euroleague
Do you have to pay for euroleague tv?
around 30 euros for the whole season
Yes and the pricing is different depending on the country you're watching from. For example, In Greece we are piss poor but for some reason its 90 euros/season, which is one of the highest prices in any country (to my knowledge), just because the demand is big. I'm in Japan right now where I can confidently tell you that they are waaay better off than Greece, and the price here is (with the current conversion rate) around 40 euros/year. Imo this is pretty scummy but it is what it is.
Euroleague should be an open league
I mean probably any good team could get in. But so far we saw many new teams failing in the EL and it gets really not interesting 🤨
Know that Real Madrid is a candidate even if they are not one in paper
You forgot something that panathinaikos is the best team in Europe.
El should be closed..juts needs to be bigger like 20 or 24teams... add 3 russians(cska,zenit,lokomotiv), 1lietuvaa(lietvus), 1 israel(hapoel), 1turkey(galatasaray), 1france(paris or limoge), 1spain(unikaha or huventud)
Keep Russian teams out, they don't deserve it.
It would be better if there was another Greek team instead of a Spanish team
@@nickraptis9183 yes it would Aris or Aek butt they are week compare to Spanish Unikaha or Badalona
Dubai? London Lions?? these are more possible than Russian teams' return
@@mda990 hell no..dubai is not in europa, england sucks ass in basketball should never ever have team in El..we want strong El not political correct

It's easy guys.
Follow Olympiacos and be happy! 😘
EuroLeague is better than the nba.
1 thing you MUST do: Become an Olympiacos fan.
Just follow macabi
No, keep Russia out, they don't deserve it
Agreed, but why are we keeping Israel while they're doing the same crap?
Here is a tip if you are gay, follow Partizan and you will fit in. ;)
I will still support my Catalan bros for both football and basketball 💯 go Barca!!
