p.s. @SecretSleepoverSociety the whole 'non-controller charging' thing is a firmware issue. There's a *tiny* hole on the back of the PS5 controller that you can stick a pin or a paperclip into (next to to the sony logo with all the copyright stuff), reset the controller, pair it using a USBC cable to your PC, and it *should* charge.

Julia, if you are reading this, let me say. I used to feel like I had lost my brain, I couldnt concentrate, I cried randomly. What helped me was not powering through but reducing my workload to something my brain was capable of handling. I know you are in a position where deligating is difficult, but its not worth "just pushing through" unless you then put in place measures so you dont need to do that again. When you feel like that it is your brain telling you it needs rest. It is a impulse designed to help you, much like sleepiness, hunger or pain, and you shoudnt ignore it.
This applies to any of you who are reading this. I know many people are not in positions to get as much mental rest as they should, but I think at least taking it as seriously as other needs is a good first step.

Julia talking about burnout and not being able to handle things as she gets older makes me think about when I came to my own realization on that.
For me, at least, it's not that you're able to handle less, it's that you've grown up enough to learn what your limits are. It's not "why can't I work nonstop for days on end", it's "my body learned what it was like to rest and recover, and now that I know that, it's harder to go back to overworking myself."
Strange how getting to a better place makes it harder to go back to absolutely wrecking your physical and mental health.

I had assumed for too long that I was very high functioning because of the assumption that accomplishing a task was the same as being able. Like "yeah it took fighting against myself and all my energy but I got it done. On an unrelated note why am I sad, anxious, and tired all the time?"

Lore time. Julia makes several attempts against the widely-loathed Bloody Crow of Cainhurst in this episode. His nickname and crow feather garb mark him as a former ally of Eileen the Crow, the hunter of hunters. But why does she hunt hunters?
Madness is a major theme in Bloodborne. It seems like the more corrupted and beast-like people get, the more deluded they become, perceiving everyone else as a monster. Citizens will attack you while calling you a “wretched beast”, and Father Gascoigne muses about why you won’t show him your true face (shortly before transforming himself). Hunters in particular are described as “blood-drunk” and appear feral; almost every Hunter you encounter will attack on sight, and even the friendly ones are a little…overeager when they have an excuse to get violent. Eileen is unusual in that she doesn’t seem to enjoy her work at all, dispassionately eliminating characters like Henryk, Gascoigne’s old ally.

After the break, Julia explores an optional area, the Upper Cathedral Ward. This is the domain of the Choir, the Healing Church’s most powerful and secretive agents. The Choir look after the “holy medium” that was found in the catacombs and became the basis for blood ministration, and they share the School of Mensis’s interest in communicating with higher beings, although their methods differ, as we will see.
It’s interesting that the key to the UCW is on a body in a cell in Yahar’ghul. The Unseen Village is the domain of the School of Mensis, who also serve the Church. Did their coexistence become a rivalry? Has Mensis’s retreat into the Nightmare caused Yahar’ghul to fall into complete chaos, or is it under new management? Is the body that holds the key a captured Choir member, or some other agent of the Church?

    • @Nonregional

How could I forget? Julia also defeats Mergo’s Wet Nurse in this one. According to the umbilical cord item descriptions, the children of Great Ones tend to die, causing them to “seek a surrogate”. This provides some background for the various women that carry weird alien children - the ones we know of include Arianna, the imposter Iosefka, and the woman in white.
What’s her deal, anyway? The catacombs I mentioned earlier are the remains of a civilization known as the Ptumerians. One of their monarchs was Queen Yarnham, presumably the namesake for the modern city built atop the ruins. She bore the child of a Great One named Oedon, and that child was named Mergo. When you kill Rom and dispel her illusions, Queen Yarnham appears at the lake, and from that point forward Mergo can be heard crying from anywhere in the city. His cries are silenced when you defeat the Wet Nurse, suggesting that you have killed Mergo himself as well.
But why is Mergo still an infant if his mother’s civilization is in ruins? Is the life cycle of the Great Ones just very slow? Does time not pass normally in the Nightmare? In case it isn’t obvious, Miyazaki likes to keep things mysterious.

Julia has died to "The Bloody Crow of Cainhurst" 22 times so far. That's more than double any of Bloodborne's actual bosses and over half the total deaths from all bosses COMBINED!
Incidentally, it's also more deaths than Granny Smith had to ANY of the bosses in her Dark Souls playthrough.
Latest full Bloodborne boss death stats below:
    10 - Martyr Logarius
    9 - The One Reborn
    6 - Shadows of Yharnam
    4 - Father Gascoigne
3 - Rom, The Vacuous Spider
    3 - Vicar Amelia
    3 - Blood Starved Beast
3 - Micolash, Host of the Nightmare
    1 - Amygdala
    1 - Darkbeast Paarl
    0 - Mergo's Wet Nurse
    0 - Cleric Beast
0 - The Witch of Hemwick
    Total - 43
    Average - 3.3

Your Clara "This is my mom, she's 16" reminded me of a story with my daughter. I'm waiting at a bus station with her, and she's 2 or 3, and this older lady is walking down the station stairs, and my daughter shouts "THAT'S my grandma!" like she was so relieved to have found her! Except the lady was black, with african dress and headwrap and my youngest is the palest, blondest child on the planet. And there was a moment of people clearly thinking "That's unlikely... but what if she just got the whitest genes it would be rude to laugh" and then the not-Grandma started laughing so hard she almost fell down the stairs. Apparently this was the funniest thing that'd happened to her all year. Anyway something about kids declaring entirely untrue things with absolutely confidence. It just tickles me.

Awwww, maaaan! I was NOT prepared to hear such relatable and heart-breaking work-life-balance storytime with Julia this stream! :( Even though she's several years older than me, I still feel very much like MUST PROTEEEECCC... T_T
I recognize every single impulse like 'take on a task no one else seems jazzed about doing' and 'assume everything is a serious statement until told otherwise' and 'if I put myself thru a lotta pain, I'll gain just as much resiliency, right?' But I've also been in therapy for years and years, and I've learned that it's straight-up NOT TRUE that pain brings rewards. Sometimes, pain is just suffering. And sometimes, the right thing to do is ignore it. But sometimes, the right thing to do is respect it, and just fkin go to bed. And deciding which kinda day it is today, is a whole life's work...
I want Julia to know that she IS fun to just BE AROUND, that she don't gotta DO anything - other than talk, maybe - to be interesting, and worthy of companionship, and even worthy of having fans throw money at her, and by extension, the whole Drawfee team!
Y'all joked about having us fund your pension on some recent stream, and while I sincerely hope you are actually truly saving for retirement (plz, do it for me, I cannot yet) as a company, it's not even A QUESTION that plenty of fans WOULD sincerely show up to fund that... And part of the reason I love and respect you guys so much is that you WOULD NOT take advantage of that, you would feel SO BAD about doing that, it would prevent you from even asking! (I mean, Karina would ask, but it would be a joke, and IDK what she'd DO when people really did it, lolol)
And that's the true 'good guy curse' (none of that reddit bs) - the resistance to asking for help when it is really needed, to avoid being a burden. You stand up for other people so often, Julia - I'm SURE you can learn to stand up for yourself in your own head! (encouraging emojis here) You've got so many people around you that love you, and I'm SURE they tell you ALL the time... The hardest thing in the world is believing that they're right.

im so thankful for whoever does the subtitling on these vods because captions are super important in terms of accessibility and stuff but, god damn, ive never seen captions have so many misspellings. like multiple each vod, I dont think ive watched a single SSS vod without noticing at least one misspelling or misinterpretation, especially of in-game words/names. including many of the last bloodborne streams and even right up top on this one: "havel" instead of "hovel." its not the worst issue but its important to have accurate captions if youre going to have any. but still, goodness its great to have captions at all. a wonderful part of these streams is being able to read along with not only actually written out captions, but having them color coordinated to boot. thank you to whoever does all that hard work. I hope me pointing out the misspelling issue didnt come across as too rude or unappreciative or whatever, its just something i noticed and felt like i had to say something.

I apologize for the misspellings, I check the transcription once it's been generated for accuracy, but there's a lot of in-game words or even real life word that I'm not quite familiar with. I do appreciate people pointing them out so I can fix them. Having to finish the subtitles on top of everything else that the channel needs means that I don't get to give it as much polish as I'd want.

Okay i know this is fully no one asked but... yeah nihilism being seen as negative has always kinda bugged me. The most common form of nihilism simply states that there is no grand overarching meaning to anything, which to me is the most positive viewpoint one can have. If there is some arbitrary thing enforcing meaning, then that meaning is shallow; vapid. Only by there being no objective, universal meaning can there *be* true meaning, as we're then free to craft our own. Only by things being "pointless" other than for their own merit; only by things being arbitrary; possessing only that meaning we choose to place upon them; can we be free to decide on our own values. And only by there being an end, divorced from a moral dessert, can we be liberated to simply *be.* To exist as we wish; as we decide; to try to make the world better, in whatever sense *we choose* to prioritize. Nothing matters, so everything matters as much as we decide. Everything ends, so the journey is what's important.

@@RobertIsLostInTheWires I think that's the vast majority of nihilism. Do right because you care, not because something says it's right. Listen to yourself; what your heart tells you is important; because that's all there is.

They weren't wrong but even when feet are one of your biggest tools its weird to say (especially to a room of minors?)

1:14:08 Yeah, agreed with Jacob here. I usually don't actually watch these streams, cuz the content is a little too icky for me, but I love listening to yall talk about random stuff, so I love having these streams on in the background. It also gives me a way to get the plot of games like these without having to play them myself. Don't worry about the content, Julia. I'm pretty sure yall could do a Just Chatting stream and it would still do numbers.

It's Rickenbacker (because the founder changed the spelling of his name, fun fact). It's a brand of guitars (including bass guitars). Quite expensive, well-regarded ones. Their 12-string guitars in particular are pretty iconic, and were heard all over the place in the 60s. If you think if a jingly jangly tone like Turn, Turn, Turn, by the Byrds, that's a Rickenbacker 12-string you're hearing.
Edit: And also i did not see this was already answered, having not refreshed. But ah well, some extra context i guess.

You think Arsenal fans have it bad, the nickname for members of the SomethingAwful forums is "Goons" (and has been since the forums started). My personal theory is that "gooning" got its name from some weirdbeards that got banned from SA and spread the term specifically as a form of revenge/harassment (much like what Dan Savage did with Rick Santorum), which sounds crazy, but bitter assholes who get booted from SA have gone to some pretty insane lengths to get back at the community. Hell, even 4chan got its start when people got really mad that SA's anime subforum instituted rules against sexualizing little girls and went off to make their own website (before you ask the obvious question, they just didn't think an explicit rule about that was necessary, and then it became necessary).

I feel like Julia's point of view of her struggle with an enemy as boring, not entertaining content is kinda wrong. imo people who watch souls-like content are aware of what these games are, that its journey to victory kinda the game, not results of fights. It would be pretty boring and not rewarding to just win on first attempt everytime. These games are all about learning and improving yourself, but it feels like Julia fears that she need to be perfect immediately otherwise people will boo her of stage, which is simply not true.

My experience with “fuck around and find out” is as the slogan for the Hell’s Belles TikTok series. The show itself is super healing for my religious trauma, and is very healthy. But the slogan is that way for a reason, Hellp Desk in hell will happily become violent to those who deserve it. But in retrospect, non ironically wearing that slogan (or like this for a show) is absolutely a red flag and a half

Jacob talking about being a positive nihilist just shows he actually understands nihilism. The philosophy specifically says that anyone who encounters nihilism and gives up and says everything is meaningless is weak willed. The point of the philosophy is that nothing has *inherent* meaning but meaning clearly exists which means we are the arbiters of meaning. Its an empowerment, not a fatalist whining that faux intellectuals pretend it is and it's always annoyed the hell out of me...
