@@broviola this weekend was slow. Marked hundreds but only a couple bites and no big fish. I was out with my father in law two weeks ago though for his first time ever smallmouth fishing and he landed a 6.45 and a 5.6.... I don't think he understands that is insane and he's likely never gonna have a day like that for a long time

Clayton, I have a question for you if you don't mind. I just got into this sport 2 years ago. Could you please explain how you can release these fish from that depth and their fine, when people catch crappie and bluegill at 30 ft and they die. I'm not trying to be negative, I truly want to know what the difference is. Thank you Sir!
Lake trout have the ability to burp :) When they burp they can release air out of their air bladder :)

Do you knock them over the head or just bleed them? Last winter i would smack fish in the head to kill them (less suffering) and then cut the gills as the heart first stop right away. No idea what is correct just wondering

My favourite Lake trout video hands down. I used the 100 tantrum myself last season and was in awe how aggressive they hit. What a great lure by frostbite

I really liked the angle and placement of your hole camera under the ice. How far did you have it from your actual fishing hole?
The under water camera view is FIRE! Nice touch with filming. The tantrum rocks. I've caught nice largemouth on them. What kind of light do you use for the camera lighting?

Completely agree on bleeding out the fish you plan to eat. It makes them taste SOOO much better. Not only that, but it helps to keep the meat fresh longer, and allows you to keep fish in your freezer for much longer before they spoil.

I’m a BIG fan of those glow fire tiger rattling baits for Lakers… actually, anything in a fire tiger colour is good for lake trout! Can’t wait for lakes to freeze enough to head out ice fishing.. going through my gear this weekend and getting things ready!

Was using a 2oz tube jig, should be able to find the lead head at Pokeys Tackle shop :) They have a website as well.
Grabbed a couple rods, a couple different rattlers and dinnerbells from frostbite when they opened the site up last night cuz of you aha

What length and action do you prefer in an ice rod for lakers?
I like longer rods, and it really depends on the size of baits I will be using and how big the fish will be. I like 43-46" rods and more of a moderate action.

I found some nice Jackall TN80’s last year on eBay, I started using rattlebaits also quite abit last year Clay, one of my favourite lures and was stoked when they would go after it just as much as a tube.
