It’s not on par with Bantamweight (by far the best division) but it’s definitely not lacking in talent
personally i find a point fighter like leon and strickland more boring than a high level grappler like khabib

100%. I find grappling so fascinating, personally, even though I’ve dabbled in more striking martial arts in the past. I also think that on the ground there is far, far less random chance in the mix, so we can draw more reliably accurate conclusions about two guys’ relative merit. But if that’s true, thats probably another reason why most would prefer standup, coz of the unpredictability.

Colby had 3x the control time (and elevated takedowns), just as Usman had 3x the control time vs Leon in the 2nd fight (when Leon's coach told him he was 'getting bullied'). It was a garbage fight, but Leon won it by barely outstriking Colby (by only 3 significant strikes in the first etc), not by outwrestling him lol. Also all 3 judges had Colby easily winning the 5th, not sure how you're hyping up Leon's efforts in the last round

I think you forget that Islam gets to fight at 170 too against Leon. No hard cut to 155. Leon would still be bigger but maybe not as much as we think. Also, Colby and Usman don’t have a submission threat, and Islam submitted one of the best submission artist ever. Leon gave up his back a lot against Usman. You can’t do that with Islam. It would be an amazing fight but I’m not sold on your logic for picking Leon.

I was think about all of Daniel’s fights and was wondering how Daniel was able to get a title shot.
Hot take: How did Daniel Cormier get a title shot at heavyweight in 2018, when he didn’t fight at heavyweight for 5 years. I know he was able to be strikefore champion, then that was great at the time. Daniel went to the UFC in 2013 and had 2 fight at Heavyweight then dropped down to 205. I understand that he didn’t want to fight his team mate at the time or whatever it was.
How does having 2 fights at heavyweight in the UFC justify a title shot 5 years later?

5:04, let's be real. People who dislike Islam often do so because of his faith. If you check the comments, you'll rarely see his fans start the negativity. He's been winning and winning and proving himself, and the insults usually come from those who hate seeing him succeed.
I'm not saying everyone hates him because of his religion, but many do. Look at the comments under big videos, and you'll find attacks on his religion, his culture, his people or comments like 'Christ is lord.'
It's an uncomfortable reality, but people like this will always exist. But then there are people like DC having the funniest moments with him or people with a brain like Poirier, Charles or Volk who understand that he's not a bad guy at all.

I don't think Leon is the favorite coming into Makhachev. Makhachev has the best takedowns in the ufc and if he successfully use them, Leon's grappling is poor and would get submitted easily. He needs to keep his distance and hurt him bad soon during the fight if he wants to win.

1. Leon beating Islam should not even be a hot take- it's a fact. My name would suggest I am a massive supporter of the Dagestani crew (and in fact, I am), but Islam isn't beating Leon. Whoever thinks otherwise is just biased.
2. Kind of half disagree with the notion "people that hate Islam probably don't hate him, but his fans". There are actual Islam haters, and they just don't hate Islam- they hate Muslims in general. I won't ramble about how international politics work, but a significant portion of Westerners have been conditioned into hating Russians and Muslims, mostly via the media.

With Belal ragdolling Leon in their second fight, I do think Islam stands a better chance now. My only concern is whether or not his chin can withstand Leon's strikes, considering he got dropped by Volk in their first fight.
And as my name suggests, I am a Muslim and an avid supporter of Team Khabib. But I also need to be as unbiased as possible when predicting matchups. Throwing around the word "casual" anytime someone has a different opinion than yours is just peak casualness.
@rahmansharar Islam is a terrible matchup for Leon. Leon gives his back all the time but never got punished for it because Colby and Usman don't go for the back and don't really try submissions. And Islam is an expert at getting to the back. Also Leon never gets KO's. Only 2 KO's in like 10 fights. Usman KO was one in a million. Not to mention Islam's chin will be significantly better without as much of a weight cut. As well as Islam having the lightweight skill over Leon. Terrible matchup

Nearly every Muslim-majority state in the world have laws dictating either imprisonment, corporal of capital punishment for blasphemy, and many regions like Dagestan/Chechnya also do. Also I would suggest you look at some of the polling in of Muslim populations in Europe regarding whether they think it should be legal to insult the Qu'ran or the Islamic Prophet etc. I'm referring to a super-majority globally, so saying that the bulk of the Muslim mma fanbase would have people arrested for 'speech crimes' is a statement of fact.
