The Lowcountry is the most interesting region. In my book, it extends from Fernandina Beach, FL to Wilmington, NC. The Gullah people have their own festival each May in beautiful Beaufort (where "The Big Chill" and other Conroy-inspired movies have been shot). Greenville is also nice, along with the mountains and lakes of the Upstate. I thought Charleston was bigger than Columbia, but perhaps that has changed. I am partial to Charleston, but the whole state has very friendly, well-mannered people, and it is a sanely-run state - an important consideration in this era of blue state tyrants and Woke b.s.!
Charleston overtook Columbia and is now the largest and most populated city in South Carolina. This video must’ve been recorded a few years ago.
So orangburg is low country and ppl from orangeburg are Gullah?
@@spirituallygangtress3492 Orangeburg is geographically Lowcountry but not all residents are Gullah. “Historically, the Gullah region extended from the Cape Fear area on North Carolina's coast south to the vicinity of Jacksonville on Florida's coast.” Today, the Gullah are cloistered mainly in the SC and GA Lowcountry, specifically the region extending from Georgetown to St. Simon’s Island.
Lowcountry is Georgetown SC to Jacksonville Florida
Orangeburg and Calhoun is part of the midlands not the Lowcountry.
Anything below the fall line is low country to some folks. Where sand and Spanish moss hang and alligators are which is defiantly the modern day midlands to the coast.

Orangeburg and Calhoun counties are part of the midland region, not the Lowcountry
