I got mine appart on our 5088 IH to replace that dang o-ring and when i put the rotor back in the top I cant get that mark to line up when the one by the gear is lined up! When i turn the engine to 18° the mark lines up behind the pump drive gear but its like an 1/8 inch off inside the pump! I dont get it!! Wish I could get a response by tomorrow but I doubt anyone sees this in time..
Hello , I will do what I can to help. You need to make sure the gear in the port at the pump is lined up, the harmonic balancer lines up, and the mark on that flywheel lines up back back at the cab, it will.say around 18 degrees if memory serves me correct. I would assume the 5088 are pretty much the same, just newer. My inspection window was just under the pads side cab mount, kinda a 2 bolt weird looking cover. As you are trying to get the hydraulic head dropped back in, have someone lightly rock that motor back and fourth so the head gear meshes properly. Sounds like you aren't on that compression stroke , as long as you didn't pull the pump from the block it can be timed this way and pretty simple. My email is in the about section of my channel homepage, send me an email and I can give you my cell number if you need some further questions answered. Hope this makes sense and good luck, let me know either way how it goes my friend . Thank you for the response!!
@@Pennies_on_the_dollar wow thanks for the response already. But I can't get the two marks to line up at the same time on the pump regardless of where the marks are on the engine. I took the gear ⚙️ off the front of the pump and when you hold that mark on the pointer up front then the mark in the window will always be 1/8 off. If I pull that head back our and move it one gear tooth then the mark is 1/8 on the other side from being center.. it was 1/8 inch behind center when I took it appart. I know it will run like that but I want it right.
@@lovetofly32 The two marks you mean are the pointer to the cam gear and the head mark in the pump window? If so best I can remember, set all your marks engine wise to the correct settings, and as long as that line is in that 1-1.5" pump window I think you are good. So that might be your 1/8 off. But.....it's been several years, and I will go back and watch my videos to see if it rings a bell. But I'm pretty sure that's the case. Maybe I am way off, but I know when that cam gear mark lined up, harmonic balancer and the flywheel at 18 I slide the pump head in, while rotating the crank a little to seat it, and she had been running strong ever since. Please send me your email or something, I can send that link to the ambac book it helps a lot
@@Pennies_on_the_dollar yeah I know all that and that all makes sense but mine will-not-line-up together. Yes, the one behind the gear up front and the one in the window. They won't line up simultaneously. If the one in the window is lined up then the one behind the gear is 1/4 inch off the mark.. If I turn it to line up then the one in the window is 1/8 off. Had the darn head out of the pump so many times I'm gonna wear out my new o-ring lol
