Nice review. For me, I traded in my 8 Pro for the 9 Pro XL as it was a net cost of $150. The updated modem helps for where I live and I haven't had a dropped call with the 9 so far. Cameras are pretty much the same, although the panoramic on the 9 is better, as is the video quality. If you can't get a deal on the 9, stick with the 8 until next year. 🤙🏼
I traded my 7 pro and got a pretty good deal. I haven't used that phone in over a year because I have the Pixel Fold. Now, the Fold is my backup phone and the Pro XL is my main phone and I couldn't be happier.
I went with the base Pixel 9 as I had the Pixel 8. In the end I sorta regret not waiting, but the Pixel 9 did fix a couple grievances I had; mainly with battery life. The Pixel 9 has done so much better than the 8 ever did with the battery, but that's about it. Sadly they did create another problem and that's with the camera bar and how tall it is. Cases for this phone don't look very protective from the back. One of my favorite cases brands Poetic, appear very flush and flat on the back of their cases. The only case I've seen address this is Dexnor, which has a sliding camera cover. (One that's magnetic roo, so there's nothing to click into place and I love that) I'd only upgrade if you have a 2-3 year old phone. The upgrades from the 8 to the 9 were either minor or cosmetic at best.
Thank you for the genuine insight, and perspective J! I enjoy your honesty and transparency with your videos, the topic at hand, and us content consumers lol. Keep posting these great videos of perspectives.
Great advice right here.....got offered £500 for my 128gb pixel 7 against the 9 Pro XL at £1100..... still a chunk of change to find so still hesitant but shiny new tech always tempting... that's the dilemma
It's taking me awhile to adjust going from the rounded sides of the P6pro to the Pixel 9 pro xl. Not sure which i prefer. It makes the P9 feel much thicker but offers a bit more grip.
@@Drakewyrmyes and no. Almost no one keeps a phone for 7 years, but there are plenty of phones in service for 7 years. People buy a phone that is a few years old and keep it for another few years. Now those people can get software updates throughout the life of the phone.
Thanks for the info about the screen resolution and battery 😊 didn't know it was such a big difference. Turned it down to high and now the battery is much better. Can't se difference in the screen anyway😅
We don't get any good trade in deals here in England uk,it's definitely worth the upgrade if you get the new pixel 9pro xl for £100 to£150 in exchange for the pixel 8 pro, but we don't get then deals from Google here in the UK unfortunately. So I will be keeping my pixel 8 pro.
That error you got = the realest Pixel experience 😉 I'm jk but for real tho I love my Pixel 6a but I'm not gonna upg cuz personally I feel like the 6-7 series had the best design. Love that visor! 😎
Not that you asked me, if I were you I probably would trade it if for the cameras & the pixel experience text to speech live translate, call screening very underrated feature. But the S24U is a beautiful device also. That's a hard one bro good luck with your decision.
Got the 9 p xl for "half price" traded in 2 phones pixel 8 and RAZR 40 😊 I know I could of gotten a bit more for them if I sold them but. The RAZR 40 i just got because I wanted to try a flip phone and because it was 70% of from Lenovo. Had the 9 xl for a week now and I am very happy 🎉
I remember ordering the 8 pro last year on day one I had tempered glass on the front and a good case and the camera visor got hairline scratches from being in my pocket and nothing else was in my pocket except the phone.
Pixel 9 Pro XL really looks like an iPhone. I think it does look good though, but I'm sticking with my 8 Pro. I want my Google financing on previous purchases to get back to 0 lol
My pixel 9 pro xl runs better than my pixel 8 pro but like people always say the upgrades are minimal each year but I do feel the 9 is preforming better and the battery life is better but it’s still early. But as you said if you have the money to upgrade and always want the newest tech then it’s pretty good upgrade.
I really like the new pixel 9 pro but I really love my pixel 8pro in bae blue so it is hard for me to get rid of it only thing that could make go for it might be storage
I'm upgrading because I didn't like the rounded back of the P8P, and I don't appreciate how you can feel the indented seam where the glass back meets with the side rail. I'm also going with the smaller Pro (nonXL) because I really like how compact the iPhone15 Pro feels in hand.
J talks common sense and logic, that's why we like you J
Thank you sir.

I'm just really happy to hear from multiple people that the battery life and heat issues have been much improved.

Appreciate the review bro I'm not upgrading from the 8 Pro I can hold for the 10
The finger print sensor alone is enough to upgrade for me!!
@@-22766 Don't forget the vapor chamber as well

How do u find Google compare to Samsung ?
@@brucelin5842 my Pixel is a lot more fluid than Samsung. I love the simplicity of the Pixel. To me, Samsung is just doing too much.

@jefflewis1513 the proof that 7 years updates are a gimmick.

3 years is a very reasonable upgrade cycle. Most people will probably upgrade about every 3-4 years.

Thanks J.for helping me save my money I'm sticking with my 8 Pro
I like the canera bar on borh, but I like the P9 bar a smidge better.
The screen might not be an upgrade for most, but as someone using it in direct az sunlight 40-50% of the time, it's a definite upgrade.
I have a 6, definitely looking to get a 9 pro.
Going to hold on to my 8 until either a crazy deal drops or the 10 or 11, no need for anything better aside from wanting a smaller form factor

Only thing that makes the 9 look like an I phone is the shape literally only so many shapes you can make of a phone
I feel like the curved back of the 8 pro makes it look cheap
