S&k Collection - (low effort ""fix"") Carnival Night Act 2 MIDI

I hate people that make covers from midis without crediting the original source/author
It's especially great when I hear mistakes from the midi still not edited out
I had to stop myself from correcting the notation of everything
It really just needed the square to make it sound better, but whatever improvised drum track this guy made was a weak estimate of the og
Idk the entire thing being bongos and having more prominent pedal hats made it feel a bit less energetic and a bit smoother (that's 100% not the right word but you get it)

I find this to be pretty cool, you’d think the square to be inconsequential compared to all the FM instruments, but it’s actually got more power than you’d think (in my Sonic music remasters I always leave the squares as squares and only change the fm instruments to be what I predict the intended instrument to be)

In this case it's less what the chosen instrument is and more of the rhythm it produces
When looking at origins in particular, those arrangements would've been fine if they weren't just ripped from a proto cart but actually have their sound drivers tweaked
Act 1 in particular I swear psg1 is doing double duty. It's like the driver is telling it to play the backing medley and also the lead echo which is why it almost sounds cut off
This, act 2, and the competition menu also suffer from the two squares almost phasing themselves out?

You know what’s funny? The PC collection put so much emphasis on piano and basic synth sounds, but the first and last third of the melody is actually played by a distorted guitar on the Genesis version

@@GamingGardevoir well I'm guessing a handful of the tracks implemented were in some early state, with the origins / super proto tracks being given basic instruments just for transcription's sake before it got touched up
