    Due to muting the video at the end, PiG missed a bit from uThermal saying that he actually won this challenge even _before_ attempt 19 (the one shown here), but felt that he'd received a little too much help from some glitch or other and felt it was an unfair victory. So the absolute madman went in and won a second time without accidental glitch assists, and still managed it all in under 20 attempts. "Mad props" doesn't even cover it. Supreme props to you, my friend.

    Units lost: 94 vs 2144 roughly 22x efficiency (slightly higher)
    Resources lost: 9770 vs 293,405 roughly 30x efficiency (slightly higher)

    I think the problem with Ghosts is just how many enemies there are. Ghost dps isn't that great when you're facing stuff like Immortals and Archons. Their range is also not high enough to avoid death vs that many units, and you probably can't afford to make units that don't shoot in a challenge like this. I did a few attempts of this myself and tried Ghosts a handful of times but it was just too expensive and didn't provide enough raw damage in the end after energy starts running low.

    My favorite part is when Pig starts every video with "I haven't seen this or I've seen a small bit". Then, proceeds to pause and explain everything the person he is watching does or knows what's about to happen... This man sees the future in almost every video he has never seen. Phenomenal!

    i set my brother up on one of these. all easy AI which he didnt know. he turtled for 25 min then moved out with mass Thor and was talking how he was a god until the end screen showed up lmao. he wasnt proud but i was hahaha

    I think still the best one so far was Heromarine as he did it against random opponents, not all 1 race. And he got all races involved. uThermals idea of force mixing the opponent is on the one hand nice that he can keep challenge high (although I think you cant have challenge easier than easiest all 1 race one, at best you can match it with randomly selecting all protoss, but even then you have to prepare for other races as well, ruining optimised build), but also easier as he have constant challenge to prepare for, with all random you never know and cant make specific strategy for specific composition. Still, looking forward to see his run against all races
    Goblins was somehow strange as all protoss AI just bugged out, but still its the only non-terran win out there, which makes it way more valuable.
    Terran is just way easier than other races as they have sh*tton of super strong options of unit compositions with good HP (relatively easy to save units to repair), incredible DPS and great range, often the only disadvantage is mobility (which isnt that relevant in this challenge as you defend 99% of time and AI dont backstab you or try to spread you around or basically any strategy other than 'mass units, a-move'). Even worker vs worker in the beginning would be way harder with other races or against terran as SCV have more health. So wins with other races are generally more valuable IMO.

      Thing with Hero Marines, UThermal already laid massive groundwork of *how* to do it with Terran. Also, even if he did random, the Terran to his right bugged out hard, and the initial 2 toss waves, or maybe even 3, also bugged out massively. Giving him a huge edge. This isn't to discredit, he still did what was considered impossible; just stating some facts.

      Yeah it's a bit to what Uthermal said about getting a lucky roll.
      I'm not sure how it balances out. While randoms give you more issues to deal with, you don't get as much of each issue to deal with. a 6 protoss deathball may be harder than 2 sieges, 2 pressures and 2 deathballs.
      It'll certainly be different: against randoms you may need more quick reactions, while against fixed race you need more of a game plan executed flawlessly.
      Anyway as you say: mad props to HM for doing it, and I wonder if Uthermal can manage it himself.

    I agree with all the analysis, and agree that attack upgrade affect battlecruiser and marine more than other units, but it's not because of their high ATTACK SPEED. This is mostly a co-incidence, not the cause and reason.
    It is DPS increase that matters.
    Marine get +1 per upgrade, from its base attack of 6 So, it's 16% damage increase per upgrade.
    Marauder get +1 per upgrade from its base attack of 10 So, it's only 10% damage increase per upgrade.
    Tank get .... so on and so on.
    Imagine an imaginary unit that have 50 base damage but attack very slow. (1 times per 3 seconds) If the game says this unit get +100 attack per upgrade, do you think attack upgrade benefit this unit more than other units. Again, only DPS that matter, which is a result from percent of increase compared to its base attack, not attack speed.

    With the efficiency, it's not actually 30x efficiency because that's only the units that were lost, not including repairs.

    One thing to consider - BCs share the same upgrades as BCs, Thors don't.
    But motion wise, one BC costs as much as one Thor and one medivac combined and it's the same supply. That would be dank but still it seems like BCs are just better

    Betting he does build ghosts. EMP wipes out shields, letting you kill the protos quicker, so you will take significantly less damage from any attacking force. Even if you can only EMP once every few waves, it's probably worth.

    7:08 see, back in BW Siege Tanks, and everything really, do "full damage" to shields. due to the way damage works in BW, damage only ever gets reduced from the advertised damage on the unit based on what attack type the unit has, Normal (no reduction ever), Concussive (reduction against Medium and Large) or Explosive (reduction against Small and Medium), but shields always took the full advertised damage value from all sources, so Siege Tanks did a full 70 damage against Zealots and Archons instead of the 40 they do in SC2. but to top that off, in BW you also had Vultures and Spider Mines which are *extremely* good at keeping Zealots off of your siege tanks, aside from Zealot Bombs. this is one of the main reasons why mech doesnt work very well in TvP at all in SC2 anymore.

      Tanks only do half damage to "Light" units in SC2, so Zealot and Archon can "tank" the Tanks shot. As for why Mech doesnt work against Protoss in SC2, its also because they are BAD against Robo unit in general. Immortal with Zealot/Archon meatshield destroys TAnks and Thor, Disruptor and even Colossus are very good at taking out the battle Mech of Cyclone/Hellbat/Helion. Thats why in order to play Mech against Protoss, it has to be Sky Mech with BC/Vikings/Libs.

      ​@@tigera6 in BW, Siege Tanks did a full 70 damage with every shot to Archons (even against HP, not like that matters much).
      in SC2, the shield thing does not exist. Shields properly take damage based off the size of the unit, so if a unit is Armored and has Shields it will take the 70 damage from Siege Tanks (unless you're an Immortal in WOL/HOTS lol) but if its not Armored it only takes 40 damage to its shields. so damage is considerably reduced against Zealots (tanks took off a Zealot's *entire shield* with 1 shot in BW, and then some).
      Vultures would also help considerably against Immortals and Colossus, a lot more than Hellion/Hellbat does anyway that's for damn sure lol
      not much can be done about Disruptors in SC2 tho, they just straight-up hardcounter Siege Tanks because even if you start unsieging before the Disruptor shot is ontop of your tanks, im pretty sure the siege time is STILL slower than the time it takes for it to travel to the tank from max range (i could be wrong on that tho).

    Wouldn't the best way to go about it be to destroy the entire's AI economy until it can't rebuild anything anymore, but refuse surrender and keep a building alive so that you can poke it to basically use it as an hostage but without the issue of the AI being dangerous and swallowing ressources? I feel like that'd be the best of both worlds

      How would you do that though? Place 6-7 different units across the map? You'd have to react and monitor all of them to make sure you don't lose a single one, on an already intensive micro challenge, not to mention how limited your own resources are. Any loss, and more attention split can more than likely cause you to lose more then keeping a solid foundation. And let's say its not individual units, but instead the b.c army as shown in this (most mobile, cant see it working with other units) by the time you get situated to do so, they'd have nearly mined out anyhow. Or at least enough where it would hardly matter.

      @@marrdreg7025 No I meant the hostage AI, like, they see theiir option as either "ignoring the AI" or "killing it entirely" but I think you can probably have it in like a zombie state if you refuse the surrender, make it unable to act against you or collect ressource but still ask the other AI's for help.

      @@ZerglingLover That's 10 month old so I'm going off of memory but as far as I remember he used an "hostage" AI to bait the other AI's into wasting ressources defending it but he kill it eventually and accepts the surrender and I was saying that it would be more effective to refuse the surrender and keep it technically "alive" so that it keeps baiting the AI but unable to rebuild so it's not a danger but still provides the benefit of being a bait.

    So lets all be honest with ourselves... A.I in starcraft was a term created in the early 90's to represent the computer player. This is not A.I, and there is nothing insane about it. It's not thinking for itself at all. Any real Artificial Intelligent Starcraft player like "Deepmind" for instance will annihilate any human player on planet earth. Fact. Can you imagine what Deepmind can do today 3 years later? Nevermind, if you could actually somehow beat Deepmind, imagine playing 6 of them? lol. Yeah right.
