I’m glad Stephanie brought up the how many of the songs today are about the persons hardship opposed to focusing on the one who gives freedom. He is the well of living water.
The Psalmist does both. Personal testimony, lament, prayer, and god-focused praise are not mutually exclusive things.
@@bryanvickers Yet we make them mutually exclusive once we give priorities to the others and stop singing christocentric music.
That's been my problem with Christian music. Not enough actual worship of the King, too much focus on our issues.
I have to disagree. If I tell you my friend is kind, I might give you a good impression of her. If I tell you my friend let me live with him and even sold his new car and gave me the money to help me out when I was struggling to make ends meet, then you will know for sure that my friend is kind. Giving examples from struggles and experiences we relate to not only makes it more concrete and easy to grasp, but it shows thankfulness and also gives God glory.
saftis - The thing is these songs don’t turn the corner to get to that person who did all of that. It’s “I was broke. Without a home. Totally broke. No penniless. Without any money. Poor. I was sad, too. (SADsad) Oh God I was very sad. So so sad. I was in despair. Without a hope. Not a friend. Not a place. The cares of the world weighed me down. My face saw no smiles. My heart knew no joy. My mind knew no peace. I was lost. Life for me was pain. Then I met Jesus. The end
These songs don’t turn and shift to be all about Him. Yes, there’s a place for hardship/ pain... much like a psalm of David where it’s “I’m in despair” for 13 lines... but in never ends in that. After the despair comes BUT *YOU* O LORD ARE A SHIELD FOR ME, *YOU* ARE MY GLORY AND *YOU* ARE THE LIFTER OF MY HEAD.” and “I WAIT FOR YOU” “YOU ARE TRUSTWORTHY” “YOU RESCUED ME BEFORE. I *KNOW* I CAN DEPEND ON YOU”
"Come back to ONE" That is the most important jem from this entire session. Everything that we are as worshippers hangs on this one statement.
This!!! Right!
True worship is obedience to His commandments & surrender to His will.
well said brother
Many unknown worship leaders are parents who worship at home with their children. A mother who lays down her life to RAISE her children for Jesus....Singing sweet children songs and hymns at bedtime and teaching them God's Word.
"That's not the reward. The reward is when you come home and his presence washes over you in the secret place, and you stop caring if you ever leave that place." YES.
Watching Steffany from the time she first came to our church, my heart would leap when she came onto the stage. She would dance, kneel, lay on the floor, turn her back to the audience and the one thing that was obvious was that she was worshiping Jesus, not the spot light, not the audience but Jesus. She walks in worship, lives in worship and that’s why she leads so well.
"We can be moved by something and not changed by something. There is a markable difference. If we're staying close to the flame, if we stay close to His presence, then we can feel the difference between high energy and high praise."
Yes
What a quote for our day. Thanks so much Steph
Now this is something to chew on....God give me discernment
As I am listening to this interview, I'm hearing the words; coming back to the first love, foundation, and simplicity. The end of the interview was truth and profound.
yess! “i’m not here for blessings i just sit here at your feet” lord let this time be all about you🙏🏾
Ah, the church of Ephesus!! Awesome!

She speaking straight facts and conviction , these messages need get Preached more
"The fruit will always speak of the root." This young woman has such Godly wisdom.
Bethel music kept me close to God as a young Christian. It really ministered to me. I strayed from God for years but came back to God full throttle this year. I hadn't listened to worship music in years so as I was searching I remember how I was really into Bethel. I still like some of their music but I recognize a lot of the songs are just as Stephanie mentioned! Like a feeling or about themselves. The songs I once loves don't minister to my heart anymore. Growing up in Spanish Pentecostal church, I heard old worship songs as a teen I didn't care for them hence why I really liked Bethel but now as an adult and fully encapsulated in God , the old songs sung have such a beautiful, meaningful and biblical truth that truly allows you to worship the Lord God with all your heart, soul and mind ❤
Bethel is vile and wicked
That was beautifully said.
The old Gospel is just that - built on The Gospel (the message of truth), while some of the newer music is about emotionalism. On the surface it's inspirational music but it doesn't contain The Message/The Gospel. Inspiration is good when you're going about your daily business and want to be fed with good, clean, heaven focused music BUT worship and ministry is completely different. Ministry that calls to the deeper place requires The Gospel. That's why you notice the difference now rather than in your youth (and don't think there aren't youth who have gone deeper than some elders), you've gone deeper. You're more discerning and that's a good thing.
listen to Hymn Medley - Maverick City Music. 3 sound hymns put together in one song
I can relate to your journey Raquel. 😊
Married to that gifted musician you speak of,
He loves the spotlight
The compliments
The recognition
The supply
Does he share his faith ?
Does he read and know the Word?
Is he a shepherd to his family?
Does he understand repentance?
Is he filled with the spirit and bearing fruit?
Is he humble ?
Is he a giver?
NO!!
It’s ALL about him.
Everything must revolve around his talent and his gifting.
It’s been a very difficult marriage.
Wish I heard this convo 23 years ago.
I didn’t have a clue. Just knew how talented and charismatic he was . But image is much more important for him.
God knows and He sees!
Pray for our family 🙏🕊️
🙏❤️🩹❤️🔥
Repentance is a gift. May it be recieved.
Sad to read this
Praying for the Lord to convict him of these things and to transform his heart, in Jesus' name!
If I where to give my own $0.02, I would say seek God in this yourself and focus on loving your husband back to the Lord.
Your husband won't be own by bitterness. But perhaps if he discovers that your faith is genuine behind the scenes when he isn't looking, he might come to take his eyes off himself and put them back on God in his private walk.
I know bitterness and unforgiveness can hold us back so I guess all I would suggest is try not to let bitterness towards his false displays take you away from loving him. God loves him. God loves you. And He doesn't want a root of bitterness to stop your growth, methinks.
When I hear a "not so polished" worship team that are anointed and bringing you into his presence, it is so refreshing to me. I'm not putting down anyone who strives to perfect and multiply their gift as a musician. But are we emphasizing sonic perfection over Holy Spirit and engaging our Lord and Saviour.
Amen! Pure worship, Holy Spirit Led, the BEST ❤!
Absolutely ❤
Absolutely! When someone gets up with not an amazing celebrity vocal talent but just sings their hearts song to God it is even more easy to see the beauty at times
YESS WELL SAID
Love when people preach the truth! She did it in love, but didn’t waiver!
Stefanie was one of the worship leaders who helped me to cultivate my love to worship. So thankful for her and all Jesus does through her.
I listened to her answer the first question. Stopped it at 2:56 and am just blown away by the Spiritual wisdom! Many pastors never get to that level of deep. I’m a pastor. So amazing.
This woman is a real worshiper.
And she understands we should worship the giver of the gift.
Yes yes yes yes 🔥🔥🔥
Agree 💯you can definitely feel the shift when it goes from Him to “Me” songs.
Thank you Stef. I have had a hard time singing these songs at church that are i me-centered and not Christ-Centered and call it worship. I find myself just closing my eyes and singing to Him with my own words. Mainly just saying Thank you and that He's worthy. I really appreciate this video.... I felt really alone in this until now. Thanks for putting into words what I felt in my spirit.
Agreed
try Kehilat Ha Carmel , they have learnt the secret of Praise / warfare in worship ..
I’m not a worship leader can’t even sing haha… but this spoke so deeply to me as a Christ follower. We need to get back to the word, be in communion with our God before we even go after our “calling”. Just love him first be with him first. All else will be added. Jesus is everything
Its always been a pet peeve of mine to be apart of worship but the songs weren’t about him, but about us. Love this.
That’s why Stefanie has always been my favorite worship leader.
"This is about ministering to the Lord". ❤️ Ministering to the Lord... Not to the masses. I think we (myself included) so often lose sight of that.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I’ve been saying for so long we need to really worship during our services and stop with the me songs. Like you said they’re not wrong, they’re just not worshipping Him. Thank you so, so much for posting this.
Agreed. In a way, I get tired from gospel fm radio and most of the songs are “poor me, poor me”! Why not just focus on him!
I can hear her heart, in what she speaks about worship.
I’ve only been a worship leader for about 2.5 years so I am constantly looking to experienced leaders who can articulate the importance and the reasons for what we do. I am forever grateful that Jesus would choose me to be an instrument for His glory 🙌🏻😭
As a worshipper & former worship leader I found it helped to study what the word worship means in the Hebrew by looking up a concordance. It had a profound impact & influence on me.
This is very interesting. Just recently I started reflecting and yearning for songs that focus more on praising Him which leads back to older songs.
Same. Same. Same!
The Lord pressed upon me to pray for Steffany the year she moved. What a wonderful blessing she is. I grieve over the “what can I get from Jesus” attitude that is all through the songs of worship. And her speaking this today just made so much sense to my spirit. Glory to God.
Is this why she left Redding?
"We think because we have favour we have blessing" 💯
Stephanie is a definition of the type of worshipper so many worship leader nowadays should listen from. She is only focused on ONE. Stephanie you should pls mentor people. Forever your Fan 💜🔥
The danger is not only for the "creatives", i.e. our poets, musicians and artists; it's also true of those who are gifted in the "Five-Fold" gifts. A truism that applies is, "His/her character could not support the anointing (gifts)." Also, I love Steffany's comment concerning some of the songs, "It's not about Him; it's about what I get from Him!"
This has been in my heart for a long time. Most of our songs in church are about God moving mountains, working miracles, fighting our battles etc. Seldom do I walk into a church and hear love, adoration, reverence for Jesus. Its, disheartening. But I sense that this might be changing. I think it starts with repentance, and a returning to the heart of worship (its all about Him).
She is so much so deep in the HOLY SPIRIT - thank you JESUS - for her vulnerability-sensitivity for ABBAS heart and for people 🙏🔥🩸❤️⚡️
Yeah! Preach it! All we need is GOD!!!
Everybody on any kind of worship team should learn from this. So good! Such truth!
Love steffanys intimacy with the Father❤️
Wow- Love her voice and songs but never heard her speak before. So true - I can tell when people are living on old anointing and talent and not the secret place. So glad she recognizes that.
Wow… the depth of this teaching is powerful…❤😢❤ Thank you
I feel His presence from my inside out as am listening to this
really!! when she said her daughter said His presence was “heavy but not bad” mannnn i come undone
We are clarity, peace & love.. Thriving & truth, creativity, wisdom, understanding, success, good nature, freedom, compassion, sanity & kind. We are joy! We are Pure Positivity!🌟 We are PERFECTION.💖
❤❤❤ love all of this
This is definitely something my husband and I discussed even before persuing songwriting and releasing the music God put in us. It is all about Him. And we are much older than the average new artist, and I'm sure that was intentional from the Lord. I'm not sure I would've handeled it the same when I was young, maybe, but maturity in the Lord is so very important (which can also happen at a very young age). Truth and Intimacy with Jesus. The lover of my soul; my first love. Thank you for sharing 💝
Can you send me links to songs?
@@dannyhulk11 sure! We are on all streaming platforms @lifelaiddown thank you for asking :) 🙏🙏🙏
This is SO important. You can totally tell when a “worship
Leader” has been in the secret place. It all comes back from our personal revelation and intimacy with Him. That’s when the real
Worship comes out
We can be “moved” but not “changed”
Wow!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
You know what I hate… I hate that I’ve been listening to Steffany so long and feel like we’re kindred souls and I can’t text her and say thank you.
Dead on target and eye opening. Thank you Steffany. Winston like that come from sacrifice, mistakes and being in the secret place. I’m grateful to the Father for you.
HOLY SPIRIT WILL ALIGN EVEN the songs to bring the message...AMEN thankyou
This is so so good!!!! The lack of knowledge of and love for the Word has permeated our charismatic Church culture for years and not just with some worship leaders and teams. I am thankful we are becoming aware of that lack of balance in our walks. He is worthy and so is His Word. HE is our focus!!! I just love everything that is being said here and have shared this video with many people, including worship leaders who are friends of mine. Thank you so much for this message. It was shared with humility, love and honor for all.
Steffany said 'You come back to One' and that's absolutely right. It's an Audience of One we are worshipping. And when we can worship firstly in the secret place with an Audience of only One, we can then worship in front of thousands of people. When we don't need to worship in front of many people, and can be happy worshipping only in the Secret Place, then worship becomes pure and much, much more than a genre.
Speaking the truth in love... you can tell her heart hurts when she's thinking of those that she's speaking about, without even mentioning their names. Such maturity... GREAT interview!
"If we could yield to that place (with being with the One)...
We wouldn't find ourselves asking the Lord to bless what we're doing
we'd find ourselves doing what He's blessing."
Total agreement in this. Yes there’s a time and a place for more “blessings” songs, but in reality we are called to minister to Him.
Great video!
"You can tell when some-ones been in the secret place.." Wow Steffany this is such a profound truth..
Thanks for your honest and courageous assessment of what true worship is.. even though you were once a part of the me, me, me, worship and church movement.
God bless you All as you live for Him.. as He lives through you and in you.. 🙏🏼
6:02 "The fruit will always speak of the root." 😭🙌🏼
This is so powerful. I don't want to come across judgemental, but a lot of today's worship is all for awards, sales, fame, etc. Always pray, ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit.
aww God bless Stef! I was one of those people who heard bethel songs and refrained from listening because they were a bit unbiblical, but this chat reminded me that we are all works in progress. We all have sinned (and done things that we wouldn't put out today) and we all fall short of the glory of God. As a fellow artist, I recognize that my work years ago is not a reflection of where i am today, and how the Lord has refined me. Ahhh ❤
Absolutely incredible. This is the stuff I’ve been pondering for a while now and she hit the nail right on the head for what I’ve been thinking about 🔥🔥🔥 needed this video. Thank you for sharing!
I love everything Stephanie. She is a Sheppard in her faith. No one worships with the spirit as she does.
It's called being in love with Jesus,Holy Father, Precious HOLY SPIRIT they are so awesome 🙏🙏🙏
Great discussion. Jesus calls us to himself first. Great perspective about the audience of ONE!
Oh, Stef... my goodness, this is relatable and so so so beautiful. I feel a kindred spirit with you. Thank you for this. 💕
One of The BEST Interview and REALNESS!!!! The LORD Is In THIS!!!! Thank YOU, Gospel. We hve Forgotten ACCOUNTABILITY!!!
Stephanie you need to preach daily on your youtube channel. You are truly his child
Mrs. Gretzinger is an exception in the Worship music industry. The industry has become the thing above music or worship and worship has turned into entertainment and about that dopamine rush.
She speaks the Word! I’ve always loved her and her music and her fruitfulness I’ve seen
100 real right here! Love you Steph!
I have chills right now! The Lord is so good! This is so refreshing to hear and important for my generation to know! Thank you for sharing the wisdom God has given you!!
Love this. Also funny how Steffany's mic awareness went out the the window in this conversation
"The fruit will always speak of the root"
Fall in love with Jesus and the rest will follow and flow out of that. And by fall in love I mean be head over heels in a relationship with HIM! The best thing I did in my walk with the Lord and as a worshipper was to dive into the word and daily journal about the revelations of Jesus that I saw in scripture and what God was teaching me through the process.
Yessss! Come on Steffany! Yess He only called us to Himself! Yesss! ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Steffany, this is SO POWERFUL and I am so THRILLED AND BLESSED to hear you say this. 100% PURE TRUTH! Thank you!
WOW !
This is the most fundamental information in the body of Christ. I have been asking the lord what do you want me to do? All I need is to go to him. Thank you for sharing
Its the “Im entitled” ego and self healing. I can def tell the difference when I listen to worship music, which has been my constant go to. May we feel led to pray for those in culture, may we pray that we too remain centered in Christ. Fine tune our senses Father🙏🏽
Wow, they get it! Praise God! This helped me and confirmed some things I've been thinking..
I love this!! 🙌🏼 God help us be good stewards of what you have given us and go back to You every time! Thank you for this, thank you Steffany! 🥹
Gold nuggets throughout!
I definitely think there’s a season or times for focusing inwards… but we do have to get to a place where we’re more excited about ministering to the Lord! Help us Lord 🙏
PREACH!!!
There was so much Biblical wisdom in this video. Thank you for bringing worship back to what it truly should be about - Jesus.
I want to say words. But im speechless lots to think about here..
You're version of reckless love with bethel was absolutely beautiful both live one's..it definitely pushed me closer to Jesus and I'm thankful.
Excellent interview. Very much agree with the notion that worship songs are to or about God. NOTHING wrong with songs about our own experience but that are not worship... Wonderful to write and sing but they belong in a concert setting or even in a "special music" where it's meant to share with the congregation, etc.
This girl has a RELATIONSHIP with JESUS….and through that her GIFT flows….can we get back to THIS place😢bless you STEFF
we won't find ourselves asking him to bless what we do, we'll find ourselves doing what he's blessing!
We need more of this, with her specifically. I only turned on this video because she was the one conversing about worship. If it were anyone else, I wouldn't have even noticed this channel. Praise God for clarity❤
Oh man ... Just the first couple of minutes... Mic drop
Thanks Will, for recognizing the good fruit too. I've watched worship music spread over the last 20 years, into corners it wouldn't normally. But so many right now believe it's all tainted and needs to be shut down.
Audience of One. Yes. ❤
This is simply correct. Thank You Stephanie
Jesuuuuuuusssss!!! Thank youuuuuuu🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
This is the truth! Thank you for sharing!
I love her she is a perfect example of a lover of Jesus and a true worshipper of Christ.
It's amazing how we can do things with so much passion thinking it is inspired by the Spirit but after some time you consider what was done or said and you recognize it was from the place of the soul and inspired by flesh; but it takes humility and maturity to notice and openly confess those things which both of you have done, it speaks volumes and serves as good advice for those young in the faith and seeking to draw closer to Jesus. Seek ye first the kingdom.
This so true 🔥🔥🔥
I love her heart and desire for worship. I wish she would demarcate a little clearer than just feelings for where the line is between worship and not worship. Also if two people can sing the same song and one can usher in the Presence because he or she has been in the secret place, then how important are the words? Thanks for sharing your heart!
"Then how important are the words?" That's an interesting point. I have heard songs where the "ooh, ooh " parts seem to be the most annointed. Just thinking out loud here.....maybe we don't even need words sometimes?! Could it be that the worship leader sometimes would just hum in the Spirit? We are so used to "cookie cutter" worship (e.g. 5 songs-first two slow pace, last 3 fast paced....that kind of thing), that maybe we have just put God in a huge box. What if leading worship would just be like a Holy Spirit jam fest-with a really good leader in tune(with Jesus enough to do this) enough to lead the people in a truly Spirit led way?
That’s a good point! One scripture that I thought of was in John 4 where Jesus said that true worshippers would worship “in spirit and in truth.” I think the words are more connected to the truth part…and they matter. But if you’re not also filled with the Spirit of God through intimacy with Him, then that is the other huge piece of worship missing. I think that both are essential, and that you can see the fruit of it by the way that people are led to Jesus through the worship and how spiritual growth and impact accelerates in that place of hosting His Presence.
She said that two people can sing the same song and the words are true but one can usher in the presence because they’ve been in the presence. I think the words do still need to be true but there’s a stronger presence when the person ministering has been in the presence and understands that the worship is for God, by God, and through God.
High energy VS high PRAISE❤
This is so true. Praise God.
Praise God!!! Thank you both for this truth...I love to worship and praise but my heart has been broken because so many times it has become about "us" in songs...and it should be true worship and praise of Him!!!! ❤
God , this lady is wonderful. You can see the fruit displayed in her life !
Worship is a genre...THE ORIGINAL GENRE!
Hit the nail on the head ❤️🌸🙏💯💐
"The fruit will always speak of the root". This!!! 🔥
Thank you for your transparency and authenticity!
Steffany, May God bless you for this Truth and Insight on True Worship❤️🫡..this is meant not just for Worship leaders only but for everyone who is a follower of Jesus 💯❤️
This is such a great message. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insights.
