    This girl on backing vocals she talks about was Kim Walker Smith before she was famous. I heard she telling the same story on worshipU.

    I heard this talk the first time live in 2018 and I still come back to it and listen to it again and again. So many truths and so many core values for us worship leaders. Jenn, thank you for these words. They stuck with me. - "God will bring you the right people." ♡

    Hey guys, I could really use some prayer rn. I'm a student worship leader at my Youth group and I've been having some resistance as a leader and having anxiety. I believe I do need to change my mindset on a lot of things, especially with having people who are in sync with God and not just having a musician there because you need them. I want God's anointing and His goodness and glory to fall on our youth group, but Idk if there's something in my heart that's hindering it. I know I haven't been as sensitive to the Holy Spirit, the congegation, and even my own band as I should be. I pray that God would show me and teach me how to be the steward and leader that He's called me to be. That there would be unity in our church as a body, that we would be all in for Jesus in everything we do. I pray for wisdom and peace, that we'd be confident in our God no matter what. That all pride and shame would be abolished through our worship of our one and only true, and sovereign Lord.

      Hi Rebecca....what you wrote sounds like a powerful prayer you can say out loud to The Father! Prayer is a mighty weapon that will transform the situation, so communicate to God in Jesus' Name and I stand in agreement with you on these things! - Check out "God I Look To You" by Francesca Battistelli...I think Bethel has an arrangement too. It will bind anxiety and minister peace and wisdom unto you! God Bless you, richly! 💛

    Oh, don't mean to be a real downer here, but I suspect I am. Praise teams are wrong, just wrong. They are composed of kids that are there to gather all of the praise to themselves. They are not thinking of God, but they put the focus on themselves. How do I know this - couple of clues. Praise team members do not change, there is no constant recruiting to see if perhaps someone from the congregation might want to participate in this ministry. Point #2: Praise team members are in the building only for their song, then they leave, only to show back up for the closing song. #3: They sing to overwhelm the congregation singing, making sure their voice is front and center. They attempt to sing the song professionally, with all of the variations a professional might use, leaving a lot of the congregation scratching their heads.
    Much better if you let one person lead the singing so it can return to what this is supposed to be - a congregational singing and praise time.

      Your ignorance is embarrassing. You clearly have never talked to a worship team, or made an effort to understand who they are, what they do, or the capacity it takes to accomplish what they accomplish. Be quiet.

    • @jctell1014
      @jctell1014 10 місяців тому

      I'm sorry if that's been your experience with praise teams, but the one at my church is just the opposite. We are always looking for new members, and the more congregational participation, the better. We know it's not a talent show.

    • @arthurels5832
      @arthurels5832 7 місяців тому

      No sir you are mostly wrong. What you point out is your perspective and your own experience, which I am sorry that you had to experience a spiritually weak praise team. Some teams consist of elderly and sometimes even a mixture, to say like it applies to all team is just wrong. But everything else you've said is correct in the sense of "if a team does...", a team like that needs to repent and reevaluate themselves.

  • @nickaldrich1664
    @nickaldrich1664 Рік тому

    The first sentence of this video is FALSE! It should be submitting yourself to the word of God. God doesn't need your courage or bravery, he wants your attention. He needs us to close our mouths and listen to his word, so that we can learn what is holy and pleasing to the Lord. Other people don't need your courage, they need Christ. Our ministries and our worship should reveal Christ to be a great savior, not to reveal yourself as a courageous and brave worship leader. We are so quick to go into these big leadership roles and serve, but so slow to go to God's word first and learn how to lead biblically

    • @jctell1014
      @jctell1014 10 місяців тому +1

      I'm sorry, but I must disagree. She's not saying that you should be courageous for other people. She's saying that in order to lead, you have to listen to the Holy Spirit more than you listen to people. You have to be courageous enough to disagree and to obey God, even when people don't get what you're doing.

    • @nickaldrich1664
      @nickaldrich1664 10 місяців тому

      @jctell1014 Bethel church is tied to lots of false teaching, including the theology in their music. Sometimes their lyrics are solid, but lots of times it is theologically confusing or false. Another example is the title of this video "Pastoring a worship team". The bible is clear that there should NOT be women pastors in the church. But bethel doesnt seem to care about that. A big part of the problem today is that we live in a culture where anything is christian. That's why you have pastors calling jesus a stripper, thats why you have lgbtq churches, thats why we have female pastor led churches, etc. Yes Jesus welcomes all into his grace, but he also tells us we must turn away from our sin. We contributed nothing to our salvation other than that we have sinned and we have fallen away from God. He is the strong one He is the mighty one who is able to save, not us. So why do so many of the modern christian songs portray us to be these strong bold worshippers of god? We are the ones in need of saving, God is the one who is great. Worship in the modern church has become the quickest way to the stage, the quickest way to the spotlight, the quickest way to fame etc. Worship in the church has become about creating a feeling and an emotion rather than an offering to God. Worship is no longer this humble act of bowing down before the Lord. It is now this bold courageous work that we try to perform. But really it's just a filthy rag. Worshipping God isn't just music either, it's every part of our lives (as we see it defined in romans 12) but often the only time we care about worship is on Sunday mornings. The way we worship does matter to God. We see this alot in the old testament when people give unauthorized offerings to God and they are punished. Or when God turned over the tables in the synagogue when people were conducting business in the holy place. Or when people's hearts were on themselves instead of God. The way we conduct church worship does matter and the theology does matter. In today's church culture, we can't just follow wherever it takes us just because it's called "church". We need to be wise and see how God's word designed church and worship to function and stop making it about us. We need the gospel preached in the church way more than it currently is, because people don't understand what it's all truly about. If we can't open our bibles and submit ourselves to the word of God, then we have no place stepping into church leadership roles.

      @@nickaldrich1664 I am fully aware of what's been going on with Bethel Church and am in no way endorsing the church. My comment was solely about that one statement. I was not analyzing everything she said.
      Thankfully, I have always been a member of churches where you were taught to examine what you're taught and make sure it's true and lines up with the Scriptures.
      On a side note, it might be wise to shorten your responses, at least in the comments section on social media. Writing an entire essay probably means it will not be read.
