martin, all exhausts get water in them from moisture in the air but it burns off when you run the truck. gas trucks had stacks way before diesels. its a matter of opinion so no need to be a douch.
doesnt matter if its for diesel or gas truck, all you need to figure out is pipe size and increasing your trucks pipe size from (if its a stock cat) 2.5" up to the (most likely) 4" y pipe up to what ever stack size..
@1alecxg The real term is exhaust stacks. They have been puting stacks on gassers decades before Diesel Pickup owners decided it would be cool to sound and be like a big rig wannabe. I have stacks on my gasser, but I drive a Freightliner Coronado for a liveing. I run stacks on my real diesel. Not some little diesel pickup thinking im a big rigger because I can blow smoke.
You are 100% correct. At least somebody other than me knows that stacks were being put on gas trucks decades before anyone in the diesel world decided to do this. LOL, this is not an exhaust setup started by diesel pickup owners, yet alot of them like to run their mouths and say they did..
You arent loseing anything in torque or hp. There is a reason why performace exhaust are 90-95% flow through. The quicker you can expel the hot exhaust gasses, the better the engine will run and will add a little to your hp& tqe. I did the same thing with my truck and pre and post dynoed it and the results are true. It performed better than with the stock exhaust and the numbers were better.
get a flowmaster, a 40 series or even a super 44 would sound nice on your truck with the high flow cats. and if you want to stick to race mufflers, get the super 10!
Awesome Truck!!!!!! I actually had a truck that looked identical to this one. I sold it last summer and bought a jeep wrangler.. I'm still sick over it, lol... I miss the big red dodge....... So what size lift do you have on your dodge? Its an awesome looking truck... Thx for posting.
other then what sounds like an exhaust leak I think it sounds great with that magnaflow I didnt care for the other muffler you had on it in the other videos but thats just me!
I dont get why people think its dumb to put stacks on gassers. It looks an sounds badass . Jus bc it doesnt blow smoke its stupid? Lol i like it man im puttin some on my 2500 here real soon
Followmyruts stacks are louder then any other exhaust because there right behind the cab, even louder if your back window opens, just run no muffler and a high flow cat and that's retarded loud. Unless you have an exhaust that comes up through the floor in the cab... that might be louder...
Ya that was it, my dad took it to autozone. It got a bit louder but still super deep and resonates for a long ways away. Its got the bullet on it again for now. I just found out flowmaster makes super 40 up to 6" inlet but its in the race section, that's what ill try next.
@MagnumPI4 actually you are wrong. Farmers actually started this in the late 1930's. In order to keep the hot muffler and tail pipe from setting fields on fire. They were done more in the 50's with the hot rodders. died off some then dodge did it to the truck you were talking about. They had dual 4inch turn out stacks and cherry bomb mufflers.
I like your truck!! im still a bit to young to drive but my junior year of highschool my dad told me that i would be getting a truck. still debating if i want a dodge cummins or a ford powerstroke.. i saw that your license plate said vermont.. do you go to vermonster with your truck?
They are not quiet with the right set up .my buddy has a 1990 454ss truck that has an ls1 swap. hes got long tubes with 3 inch pipes all the way out the back. true duals with these mufflers on em. Truck is loud as hell. Sounds like talladega. Nice truck by the way. thanks for sharing
I love it man. I've got a 2010 Ram 2500 TRX edition with a 6.1 Hemi straight Piped! Been running it 14 months, loud as all hell and zero tickets yet! These Hemis are beasts & although I still prefer a cummins in a bigger truck, these Hemis are beasts and sound way better to me than a cummins with stacks that simply just rolls smoke anyway. These guys dont understand these stacks add horsepower when straight piped with the right air intake anyway. Awesome truck. Keep em coming fueley brother!!!
Hey man, great video. I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 myself its got straights. What kind of lift kit you got on that thing? and what kinda tires are those? thanks.
and im not trying to start a fight here on whats better.if I buy another truck it will be diesel, but I'm keeping this one and I'll supercharge or sts turbo it eventually.
Sometimes they have a kit with the T pipe but it costs $100 more (hard to make). You'll also need 7-8' 4" pipe and a 4.25" hole saw... ill prob make a vid of everything you need and what to do.
The stacks are dynomax I got from summit. Chevyboy119 thanks, ill have some bids of the chevy soon. Im putting a mild 496 stoker big block in at the moment...
so thats a high flow cat? by magnaflow.. i just got super 44 flowmaster on my 2000 dodge ram 5.9l v8 and im not happy// its no loud or that aggressive sounding.. ive seen high flow cats but they sound raspy i want a deep sound does that cat throw any codes at you? check engine at all? thanks
a "Hemi" stands for hemispherical describing the cylinder heads and pistons if you google it and look at pics or google "how a hemi works" and youll find a website that will tell you the difference in depth..
i like how it sounds a lot. i have a 2002 dodge ram and its also gas but I'm gonna put stacks in it after i saw this video. @ martin Hagerman, i dont know what planet you live on but on earth, when water is inside the pipes and you run the truck for 10 minutes or so, it get hot enough to where the earthly water evaporates...! send me a card from wherever you are!
I used spray tint for taillights. I didnt lose low end torque, I plan on doing long tube headers, 1.6 roller rockers, maybe a cam, and supercharger if I win the lottery lol
im not sure how much difference it makes on a newer truck but I started out with a straight pipe then put a high flow cat and it was fawking retarded loud... then I had to put a muffler on it. That sounds like a bad ass truck, where's your vid?
@raychevy400 Sounds good dude. I put 6inch stack's on my 08 silverado with the 5.3 V-8 in it. Mine has no muffler on it, but has the wider stack's to give my exhaust a lower deeper grumble. To all those who hate gas truck's with stack's, I say fuck em!!! They have been putting stack's on gas truck's long before anyone with a diesel pickup thought to di it.
alright people im tired of the negative comments so all comments will need to be approved first. everyone is entitled to there opinion. but if you dont like how the truck looks, sounds, or just the fact its a "gasser" and doesnt spew black smoke, then WATCH ANOTHER DAMN VIDEO!!! i dont want to read "drrrrr your stupid drrrrrr why'd you do that???"
just so everyone knows stacks were originally from gas jobs not diesels. so this truck is way cooler. in my opinion
most beautiful sounding gas burner with stacks ive ever heard

@SouRGamingNA cuz it makes sense, the exhaust from a gaser is lighter than air, so stacks let it flow out faster, it looks good, and they sound good.
get a flowmaster, a 40 series or even a super 44 would sound nice on your truck with the high flow cats. and if you want to stick to race mufflers, get the super 10!

i like the black chevy in the background
Followmyruts stacks are louder then any other exhaust because there right behind the cab, even louder if your back window opens, just run no muffler and a high flow cat and that's retarded loud. Unless you have an exhaust that comes up through the floor in the cab... that might be louder...
I think it sounds GREAT!!!
@MagnumPI4 It was actually well popular in the 1950's with the greasers and their hotrods.
Ya its deeper but it did get a bit louder with being broke-in. Should be even better when ever I manage to get long tube headers on it.
nice ram, lucky to have such a good truck man. cool video
Ya that was it, my dad took it to autozone. It got a bit louder but still super deep and resonates for a long ways away. Its got the bullet on it again for now. I just found out flowmaster makes super 40 up to 6" inlet but its in the race section, that's what ill try next.

Love your truck and the old chevy back there
and im not trying to start a fight here on whats better.if I buy another truck it will be diesel, but I'm keeping this one and I'll supercharge or sts turbo it eventually.
You should put a flowmaster super 44 on they give a good sound while still keeping it loud.
I put 33s on my 99 ram 1500 before i put a lift on it. they rubbed a little bit when i turned hard though.
How much did the whole exhaust system cost you? I really want this for my ram now
Wait, so you can get pulled over for being too loud? My driver instructer never told me this???
i havnt entered in yet but i go and watch. im hoping ill be ready for vermonster in the fall!
Sometimes they have a kit with the T pipe but it costs $100 more (hard to make). You'll also need 7-8' 4" pipe and a 4.25" hole saw... ill prob make a vid of everything you need and what to do.
sounds sick dude!!
@CSXtrackworker yea but without dodge doing that stacking trucks wouldn't be nearly as popular as it is today
Where in Vermont do you live because I'm pretty sure I saw a truck identical to yours near Mount Sow
what size tires are those..i really like them are they 33s or 35s. what is the width?
The stacks are dynomax I got from summit. Chevyboy119 thanks, ill have some bids of the chevy soon. Im putting a mild 496 stoker big block in at the moment...
whats the biggest tire i can put on my 99 dodge ram truck with stock suspension
It sounds good but I wouldn't put stacks on a gas truck, just my preference.
so thats a high flow cat? by magnaflow.. i just got super 44 flowmaster on my 2000 dodge ram 5.9l v8 and im not happy// its no loud or that aggressive sounding.. ive seen high flow cats but they sound raspy i want a deep sound does that cat throw any codes at you? check engine at all? thanks
There a 33x14.5/r16 interco ssr. Awesome tire, a little on the heavy side...
Use a coffee can to cover them when your expecting rain. Or you can put a cap on it.
the first pick up truck with stacks was a gasser back in 79.
a "Hemi" stands for hemispherical describing the cylinder heads and pistons if you google it and look at pics or google "how a hemi works" and youll find a website that will tell you the difference in depth..
@SouRGamingNA Cause they sound good on gassers to,
It looks good and sounds good!
why put stacks on 1500? is it worth it.... im redoing my exhaust
magnum p14 I dont know they made a midnight express... must just be a different color or something. either way badass
yes its worth it, you can put stacks on anything.
i like how it sounds a lot. i have a 2002 dodge ram and its also gas but I'm gonna put stacks in it after i saw this video. @ martin Hagerman, i dont know what planet you live on but on earth, when water is inside the pipes and you run the truck for 10 minutes or so, it get hot enough to where the earthly water evaporates...! send me a card from wherever you are!
Did you tint your headlights with spray on?
Sounds pretty good to me!
I used spray tint for taillights. I didnt lose low end torque, I plan on doing long tube headers, 1.6 roller rockers, maybe a cam, and supercharger if I win the lottery lol
i thought they only put 5.7 hemis for the gas engine in the rams??????
i dont know why you would ever want to put stacks on a gas truck
people need to realize that there were quite a few gas trucks that came with stacks from the factory
Do you have back pressure?
That sounded bad ass
im not sure how much difference it makes on a newer truck but I started out with a straight pipe then put a high flow cat and it was fawking retarded loud... then I had to put a muffler on it. That sounds like a bad ass truck, where's your vid?
Just get the glass pack red hot then spray cold water on it do that several times and it will be loud
IT'S GOOOOOOOOD! :D
sounds good Bro.
sometimes I wish I did but once I do some more engine mods Ill have planty of power
street legal?
how much did it cost you for the stacks??
I got a 2001 ram 1500 quad cab with a 5.9L v8 magnum I wanna do stuff to but what's the difference between a he I and a magnum
Sounds good!
Tracy1375 that's what I said, just do it anyways. Its your truck and its badass
I think this is the best model
@raychevy400 Sounds good dude. I put 6inch stack's on my 08 silverado with the 5.3 V-8 in it. Mine has no muffler on it, but has the wider stack's to give my exhaust a lower deeper grumble. To all those who hate gas truck's with stack's, I say fuck em!!! They have been putting stack's on gas truck's long before anyone with a diesel pickup thought to di it.
nice i am putting stacks on mine true duels no cats just glaspack
do you ever enter your truck in vermonsterr?
How did you run the exhust because going to do it on my 1999 dodge ram 1500

How much was the whole exhaust setup you baught?
no, and if u have a fire kit u have to have stacks so u aint burn little rice burners hoods
well.. im going to say cummins, but thats up to you lol. thats pretty awesome that your going the truck rout!
awesome because it IS a gasser!!
Darkflavor because its badaaaaass
1alecxg stacks have been on gas trucks for a long time so dont be a dick to me just because my truck doesnt spit out unburnt fuel.
Im going to make that next weekend but then I have to find a working computer to upload...
fuckin awesome nice
radicalbuzzkill id say stack it unless you want to put about $5 into the exhaust.... then that might not work lol
i want my truck to sound like that
alright people im tired of the negative comments so all comments will need to be approved first. everyone is entitled to there opinion. but if you dont like how the truck looks, sounds, or just the fact its a "gasser" and doesnt spew black smoke, then WATCH ANOTHER DAMN VIDEO!!! i dont want to read "drrrrr your stupid drrrrrr why'd you do that???"
