8:44 lol that surprised me XD It's the first time I see bones on hips like that, are they useful in achieving particular poses? Also, I really liked your starting meshes! Then you added a TON of vertices, but I guess if you use this character for training videos, it makes perfectly sense! The way you weighted them is also nice. I used to test my skeleton in setup too, but now I recommend avoiding it because it's a workflow very prone to errors, especially if you care about the art matching your Photoshop file to facilitate the addition of new skins or poses in a second moment. (for example, you forget to undo, or leave the bone very close to the original position, but it doesn't match, so now you can't reverse or easily edit your mesh anymore D: it happened sooo many times to me) The resulting test animation is really great, and the way you animated this character in the videos you're releasing is divine!
LOL that's what I get for not proofing checking my videos before posting 🤣 that was my desktop background at the time Yeah, I added a ton of verts just because it's not ever going in a game. I usually don't do that many, but I was also having trouble getting the line art to not look so chunky. I also am a HUGE advocate for testing animations using animate mode because I've screwed up my setup pose way too many times as well (something I plan on mentioning in my rigging tutorial in fact!). I think I was just being lazy here since setup pose didn't matter so much for me with what I was going to use her for.
@@Anipalooza I'd love to create a rig of my own for your character if that is fine by you! I'm currently engaged in an ambitious animation experiment, which would affect how I build my rigs from this point onwards. First, I just need to build a more simple rig of a character I could easily animate. Then, I'll later build rigs of various other characters!
