    Thanks for making this video. My wife is now a candidate and doing research on a device.

      Is this going to be her first time with an implant? My son (in video) is very happy with this new processor, we can all tell he can hear better, especially over the phone.

    Thank you for the review. You hit all the major parts for me as I consider my next option. I enjoyed both clips and you two are great. Bring back the mustache!

      This is my son, Kaiden. He has a full beard now. He grew a moustache for his little brother's wedding. All the groomsmen has porn staches so the pictures would be funny for all time.

    Hey Mike that was a really sweet review. Im currently same boat L side and im using the Nucleus 6. My biggest concern is the thickness cause i wear a hard hat cause i work on oil and gas, battery cause i need lots of batteries and magnet strength. Im so torn on this. I wish the Kanso 2 was thinner, had a removal battery option. But thank you for the reivew i really enjoyed it.

    I enjoyed watching this review thank you. I was wondering about the magnet strength since I am a professional ballet dancer as well as an aerialist. So the strength is important as I cannot afford to worry about the processor falling of when performing spinning turns as well as when I am high up in the air.

      there's a website called retentionsolution they have cases for kanso 2 for better case with hair clips and it’s great I tried it and I tested if they fall by jumping and shaking my head nand it’s still stuck to my head so don’t worry

    G'day Mike, thanks for the review - it's great. I've been told I will need a CI, and my appointment is next week with Cochlear. Can you provide an update, in that overall are you still happy with the Kanso 2 , and with you moving up to a stronger magnet, did this help with stopping the Kanso 2 falling off your head?? In essence I believe the choice for me with Cochlear will be between the Kanso 2 and the Nucleus 7, where aesethetically I like the Kanso 2 because I'm sick of thins behind my ears, BUT if it keeps falling off, that's definitely not what I want. Cheers!

      It's actually my son, Kaiden, with the implant. He is very happy with the implant still (sorry for the late reply). He just finished grad school and the tech has allowed him to interact with patients much better than the old implants. He also hears on the phone significantly better even while driving.

    The magnet strength is my only issue

    When you upgraded, did they charge you? Or did insurance cover the upgrade? I'm thinking of Nucleus 8 with the new Scan iQ 2 technology, but leaning towards kanso 2 after watching this vid,I like the wireless aspect of its utility I'm a huge fan of newer tech.

      My son didn't have to pay for his upgrade when he got the Kanso 2, but most insurances do charge. Cochlear does give some credit when you trade the old processor in, but you'll still need to pay thousands for the new processor. He doesn't have experience with the Nucleus 8, so I can't really comment on it. My business partner's daughter is about to upgrade to the 8, but it's still a few months away before I know how well she does with it. My son does like the K2 processor, but there is a downside, the battery. Since the battery is built into the K2, you can't change batteries when the built-in one runs out of power. They do provide a booster that you can plug into the K2, but it's not really convenient from what my son has said. He has had the K2 for several years now and it's dying a hour after his workday ends. Fortunately, Cochlear knows of this issue and they replaced his current process free of charge even years after he got the K2. I will let you know about the 8 once I get feedback, but the K2 has been very good. My son lives on the East Coast, and we live on the West Coast, so we talk on the phone with him a lot. He hears soooo much better with the K2 even while driving.

    Kanso 2 is too heavy and magnet is too weak. it came with +4 magnet. I got +5 and still not strong enough. +5 is high as you can go and there is no way one can be active with Kanso unless you have a strong headband. Even the headband that came with, Kanso 2 moves around in the pocket. It falls off and doesn't stay on my head. With Nuclear 7, I attahced a stronger magent on the outside of the receiver and it works way better. Nucelar 7 is also lighter because of the ear piece. But for Kanso, anything thicker than, say 0.5 mm or .020", there is no connection. So Kanso 2 is a great idea but not very practical.
    Also I can use over the ear headphone with Nuclear 7 so I can hear through both of my ears, I only have one implant. With Kanso2, I can stream from my phone but can't use the headphone. Also Android phone doesn't recognize the Cochlear implants as "bluetooth" device so streaming to multiple devices simultenously is not possible.
    Kanso 2, false marketing/advertising unless Cochlear make it as half as light or make the magnet minimum 50% stronger than +5.
    Sound quality is somewhat similar to Nuclear 7.

    Not sure if useful but samsung phones let you stream music through bluetooth and speakers.
    or different things through bluetooth/speakers

    How would you wear the headphones?

    • @mikemiller2059
      @mikemiller2059  8 місяців тому

      You mean like Bose or Beats? My son doesn't since the implant has Bluetooth making listening to music more enjoyable as well as talking on the phone.

      @@mikemiller2059 I mean beats. What if you need to put on headphones to hear something on PC or PlayStation?

    • @mikemiller2059
      @mikemiller2059  8 місяців тому +1

      @@Ricky-El I can only tell you what my son does, others may have a different approach. He doesn't hear well with headphones and uses the Bluetooth function and hears significantly better on his phone and other Bluetooth enabled devices now. Since the Kanso II doesn't go over the ear, but is up and behind, I don't see how headphones would work (at least for him). For gaming, I don't know why the PS5 doesn't have BT yet, but I believe there are adapters to add BT capabilities. Our family are not big gamers (last system bought was a PS3), so I can't comment on how good the tech is for hearing gaming sounds.

      Kaiden (my son) got meningitis at 18 months causing him to lose his hearing. The meningitis caused his cochleas to ossify so he only has about 7 of the 22 electrodes that work. I know other kids (now adults) that didn't have the ossification problem that sound closer to normal.
